Hashimoto Keita returned with three notebooks and no apology.

That was a good sign.

Not a safe one.

The notebooks were wrapped in brown cloth, tied with plain string, and carried in both hands against his chest. He stood outside Oda’s archive at second bell with his municipal pass visible, his shoulders too rigid, and his eyes fixed on the floor because he had apparently learned that looking too directly at the room made everyone count him harder.

Daigo opened the door.

"Accepted"

Daigo stared.
