Chapter 51: Sealth for the Fey
Frenley woke up with the cold, hard floor beneath him. A soft, sad sigh left his lips; he reminisced about feeling Risa's body heat pressed against his. Soon, a tingle of something pressing against his right arm caused Frenley to look down. His eyes went wide as a smile painted his lips. Risa was right next to him, sleeping in the position he remembered her having back in the real world.
Risa's eyes slowly opened as she felt the cold, hard floor of the building. Her eyes slowly focused as she looked up at Frenley; she showed a large, breathtaking smile. Frenley smiled back at her with equal affection. He leaned in as he kissed her forehead.
“Happy to see that I will wake up next to you guys if we sleep together.”
“Yep, Mia and I noticed it yesterday. Oh, we forgot to tell you, didn't we?” Risa said with a soft realization.
“Yes, you guys forgot. But don't worry about it. Now let's go find ourselves our woman.”
“Call for me?” Mia's voice caused Frenley and Risa to look left.
Mia was walking with a swagger, her hips swinging as she flashed a beautiful smile at her resting lovers. Mia arrived at their spot as she got down on her knees and planted a soft kiss on Risa’s and Frenley's faces.
“Hello, my darling. Hope we didn't keep you waiting for too long.” Frenley said as he started to stand up
“Nah, it was all good. I was talking to some other parties to see if anything had beaten the main boss in the region yet.” Mia said as she gave Risa a hand, helping the girl get on her feet.
“What's the consensus?” Frenley asked as he adjusted his clothes.
“Some guys have beaten it; the hard part, apparently, is getting to the boss itself. The front gate is closed off. There are archers and balestia on the walls. The holes in the walls are guarded by groups of guards to make sure no one sneaks in.” The Latina explained, wrapping her arm around Risa.
Frenley led the girls to the large moon shard in the middle of the room, speaking as he did.
“Great, sounds like a lot of fun. I bet that is just the first hurdle, right?”
“You got that right, love. Once inside, you go to climb the castle and reach the highest floor. There are soldiers in every corner and ambushes.”
“Great... this is gonna be a pain in the ass,” Frenley said as they reached the moon shard.
“Oh, this is gonna be a walk in the park, babe.”
Risa's words caused Frenley’s hand to stop inches away from touching the moon shard. He turned to face the short woman, her shoulder covered by Risa's arm.
“Explain, my darling.”
“Yes, explain, foxy,” Mia added to Frenley's statement, as confused as the man.
“There is no way you guys have forgotten. We have two different teleportation spells. Frenley can go invisible. We can easily breach the castle.” Risa explain,
“Well, my invisibility only lasts for like three to five seconds. My teleport causes an area of effect around me, and Mia needs to teleport to an ally. Plus, it's not long-distance; it's short-distance.” Frenley said as he brushed some of his hair to the side.
“Yeah, I know that, babe. That is why we get as close to the castle as possible. You go inside invisible, use as many charges as you can. Then once inside, you can kill the guards while being sneaky. Then we enter the castle like we own the place.” Risa said with a soft smile painted on her face.
“Her plan makes a lot of sense, love,” Mia said as she looked at Frenley.
“Yes, it does... well, we will try it out. No harm in it. Way better than just bashing our heads against the wall.”
Frenley said as he touched the moon shard. Soon, the rewards were added to his inventory as he let Ailice read the descriptions in his mind.
‘Leather of Life(2B): 'The hide of a troll is like a slice of raw concentrated life'
Allows for total healing one time per night. Increases defense and speed.’
‘Rune of Trolls: 'A small shard of strength, from a race made from the Great Tree'
+1B. Increase all physical strength’
Frenley raised an eyebrow at the rewards, smiling a bit as he pulled out the rune and passed it over to Mia. The tall woman grabbed it with no problem, letting Ailice speak in her mind before smiling.
“Thank you, love.”
The tall woman said as she equipped the rune. Her height increased by a bit more, her muscles stronger and refined like steel. Frenley smiled at his lover before pulling out the last reward of the day. A blue and gray tunic. A great mixture of protection and speed. He passed the tunic around, letting the girls read it. Once his tunic got passed to him again, he nodded, opening his mouth to speak.
“I think this should go to-’
“You love,” Mia said, nodding at him.
“You handsome,” Risa said as she looked at him.
“-I didn't even get to finish my sentence,” Frenley said, looking at the girls a bit flabbergasted.
“Well yeah, but I already got a good suit of armor; plus more speed will do me no good if my defense is down,” Mia said with a soft shrug.
“I already got new armor that increases my damage; that tunic will do me no good, babe,” Risa explained with a soft smile.
Frenley sighed but showed them a small smile as he placed the tunic in his inventory before equipping it. The armor hugged his figure with great care, matching his cloak perfectly. Frenley smiled at the girls as each of them did their level-up, before white light washed over them and they appeared on the ground world of the dream.
The three were very close to the castle; its large black walls were melted into the mountainside. The architecture reminded them of a blend of Gothic and Roman styles. Pointy roofs, black, gray, and white being the main colors of the part of the castle they could see. But the Roman motif added spice. The building felt old, like it had been ages since the stone had been worked on. The wind took the form of groaning, of the stone bending and compressing under its own weight.
But they knew it was not that old; the pieces of lore they had found told them that this was a recent construction. But how recent is something they don't have an answer to. They also knew the castle was inhabited, even if they hadn't yet seen the guards who would block their advance.
“Well, ladies, time to get this show on the road,” Frenley said as he summoned his sword and magic focus.
“Man, it has been a while since I heard that,” Mia said as she summoned her greatsword.
Risa walked behind them, staff in hand. The trio walked slowly towards the castle, as more and more of the castle became clear. Figures started to appear on the walls of the castle. Shapes of death decorated the walls, the balista Mia warned them about. Their pace slowed as they began using the foliage around them for camouflage.
Soon the party stopped in their tracks, as they could no longer move forward without getting the attention of the arches and getting filled with holes. Their eyes scanned the walls of the castle, looking for a point of entrance. Mia shook Frenley and Risa's shoulders, pointing to a wall on the far left with a large hole. No words need to be spoken as the group moves slowly towards the hole.
It took five minutes for the group to reach the hole. They were covered by large trees and bushes. Their bodies lay low to the ground as they watched the group of ten soldiers guard the hole. Frenley noticed one of the soldiers holding a flag. Remembering the flag bearer in the city, Frenley knew that soldier was the highest priority.
On top of the walls were five arches. Each looked at the wilderness.
“Range combat is out of the equation; we will draw more eyes on this spot,” Risa said from behind him, her body pressing against the ground. Her voice was a low whisper.
“Alright, love. There seems to be a building behind the group. You need to get in close and teleport into it. Try not to make too much noise, love.” Mia said, patting his ass as she said that.
Frenley looked at her with a raised eyebrow but nodded his head. He slowly crawled forward, stopping before his body poked out the edge. Frenley slowly raised his body, his fingers holding the ground. He waited till the archers' eyes darted away from his hiding spot. He rushed forward as his invisibility came online.
The sudden movement of the bushes did cause some soldiers to look at it. But when nothing out of the ordinary came into view, they focused back on their jobs. Frenley ran with all of his speed, getting closer with each step. He knew the range of his teleport, so as he got closer, he activated his invisibility again before it disappeared. Soon he was within range for teleport.
Frenley used his ability and teleported into the small building behind the soldiers. As he landed, a wave of ice magic washed over the interior of the building. This made two naked figures, who were in the middle of procreating, shiver as they looked in Frenley's direction. Their eyes narrowed as they noticed the frost inside the building.
But Frenley gave them no time to continue looking. He rushed forward, invisibility still on. Frenley swung his sword as he cut the man’s head clean off his shoulder. The woman beneath him opened her mouth to scream. But Frenley was faster. As his invisibility dropped, he put his whole hand inside the woman's mouth. Her eyes were wide with fear as Frenley pierced the side of her head with his sword. The man's head landed on the floor with a louder-than-usual crash.
Frenley cringed; he lay low, trying to stay out of sight of the windows. He recalled the plan he talked about with the girls on the way here. He needed it to cause chaos inside the castle grounds. Drawing attention away from the walls, gate, and wall holes. Frenley breathed in softly as he peeked out the windows, seeing no one was looking at the building.
Frenley held his breath as he activated his invisibility and opened one of the windows, and climbed out of it. He aimed his left hand at a window across from him, a window that showed him the back of the flag bearer. He sent an ice shard in that direction as he rushed to hide in the shadows cast by a nearby larger building. Hiding in the space between it and the mountain wall.
The ice shard flew through the building, breaking open the window as it exploded right behind the flag bearer. The ice shards pierced the man’s lungs and heart. Killing him as he fell to the ground with a loud thud. Soon the sound of movement and talking reached Frenley's ears. The door of the house where he was was swung open as guards looked inside of it, finding only an open window, two corpses, ice, and glass shards.
Frenley was long gone, using the shadows of the buildings to hide himself and conserve his mind and soul points. Frenley looked around, trying to find a target for his chaos. His eyes soon noticed a nearby grain silo. Its walls were made of stone and its ceiling of wood. Soon, a small fun fact entered Frenley's mind: grain silos can explode. But there is one problem: he has not cast fire magic ever since he put on the winter rune.
Frenley focused on his magic and himself, trying to find the switch that would allow him to cast his season bolt with its intended effects. He soon found it, as he shut off the winter rune. His hair and eye color returned to normal, and a slow smile spread across Frenley's lips.
