DMS Chapter 163
DMS Chapter 163
Flinx was swimming in the lake with Pondy, making sure that he was comfortable while waiting for the others to return home. The servants had already started preparing dinner for everyone.
Soon, Olivia, her brothers, and the four kids arrived.
“I thought you were going with your countrymen when they returned home?” Olivia asked.
Flinx joined them at the dinner table beside Pondy and prepared a plate of food from the dishes the servants had cooked.
Once everyone had started eating, Flinx answered Olivia’s question.
“I did. I returned here because I no longer have a family in my country. I decided to live here, but I’m feeling a little down since my friends returned home. Because of that, I decided to explore the different kingdoms of this world!”
Olivia was surprised and stared at him. Everyone else had the same reaction.
“No need to worry, though. With my ability to teleport, I can return home once or twice a month.”
That statement seemed to comfort everyone.
“Can I join you on your travels?” David suddenly asked.
“No. You’re still in the middle of your education. Once you’re an adult and fully educated, you can explore the world. For now, you need to arm yourselves with all the knowledge you can get so you can have a good life in the future. Besides, there’s a chance that I’ll return home frequently. At the very least, I’ll come back here once a month. I also need to make sure that I continue supplying the inventory for Olivia’s shop. We need to maintain the shop since it’s providing us with a lot of funds,” Flinx told the kids.
After dinner, they all took showers before jumping onto Pondy. While they were playing in the lake, Ambrose asked Flinx where he planned to go first.
“I actually don’t have a specific place in mind. I’ll just choose a road randomly and start traveling. I’ll stop whenever I reach somewhere interesting, like a place with dungeons, and then I’ll explore them.”
“Are you just going to walk along the road?” Violet softly asked.
“No. I purchased a car and will use it. Then, when the sun sets while I’m still traveling, I’ll store the car in my spatial item, conjure a comfortable tower, and rest inside it for the night.”
Everyone sighed when they heard what Flinx had said.
“It must be nice to be so powerful and wealthy that you can just start traveling without worrying about your safety or where your next meal will come from,” Christopher commented.
Judging by everyone’s expressions, they clearly agreed with Olivia’s brother.
“Are Samuel and the others doing alright?” Arcios asked.
The four kids had grown close to Samuel and his group. Samuel’s group was the youngest among them and was very playful. Their tower was filled with entertaining things that they loved showing the four kids. That was the main reason why Samuel and his group were the children’s favorites.
Flinx briefly opened his system panel and accessed the website of the web-based messenger their group had started using. Based on the chat history, everyone was doing fine, and he told the kids so.
“To be honest with you all, there’s a huge chance that my friends will relocate here to Ilioven with their families.”
When Olivia asked why, Flinx couldn’t tell them the real reason. He couldn’t explain that this world offered magical classes that could make them powerful, granting them access to magic and the abilities provided by the system. Not only that, the system would allow them to maintain a connection to their home planet, removing the biggest disadvantage of living away from Earth.
Flinx and his fellow Earthlings knew that the advantage of having a class was too great to ignore. Aside from gaining access to spells with effects that modern Earth simply couldn’t replicate, such as healing fatal diseases, having a class would greatly extend a person’s lifespan.
Regarding lifespan, it was one of the first things Flinx asked his system about, and the system answered him. According to it, a class holder’s lifespan increased based on their total level.
Upon reaching level five, a class holder’s lifespan would increase by 100 years. Level ten would grant an additional 500 years, and reaching level twenty would add a staggering 2,000 years to their lifespan.
That was one of the reasons why Flinx was certain that his fellow dungeon miner slaves would eventually ask him to bring them back to this world.
The only thing Flinx told Olivia about why his countrymen would return to Ilioven was because of the dungeons. After that, he changed the subject.
“When are you leaving?” Keero asked.
“Tomorrow,” Flinx replied.
Flinx was amused that his plan to leave the next day did not have much of an impact on his adopted family. They were already used to him leaving and suddenly returning.
The first time he said goodbye, when he planned to rescue his fellow Earthlings, he made a lot of preparations. Because of that, everyone was worried that he might not return. However, after only a few days, he came back. Then, a few weeks later, he returned again.
The second time, he left with his countrymen to return home, but they barely noticed his absence since he came back within the day while they were busy with their normal routines.
His departure tomorrow would be the third time he had said goodbye. However, he had already told them that he would return often since using his Teleport spell made it easy for him to travel back and forth.
In the meantime, Ambrose told Flinx that he had successfully delved into the first floors of the novice dungeons together with his classmates.
“By the way, I forgot to ask. What’s your class?” Flinx suddenly asked Ambrose.
“What do you mean?” Ambrose asked.
“I mean, my class is Wizard. Some of my countrymen had different classes, like Druids, Fighters, Rogues, Clerics, and more.”
“I don’t have a class. I can only obtain one if I acquire a class scroll or join an organization, like the Druids of Evergreen Forest or the Shield Warriors of Akazum. After years of service, they can perform a ritual that grants me a class.”
Ambrose looked surprised as he answered Flinx.
Flinx felt embarrassed. In truth, he didn’t know how people normally obtained classes. He and his fellow Earthlings had received their classes the moment they were kidnapped by the Torbal Slavers.
“Is it different where you’re from?” Ambrose asked.
Flinx simply nodded and replied that it was a secret, so he couldn’t reveal how his country granted classes.
“Where does one get a class scroll? The kids wanted to become wizards, and I can’t grant classes.”
The question immediately made the four kids extremely excited.
It was Olivia who answered.
“The most common way for someone to become a wizard is by becoming an apprentice. A wizard master can perform the apprenticeship ritual that grants the Wizard Apprentice class to their students. The issue is that only those with magical talent can become a wizard’s student, and magical talent is rare. There are also class scrolls, but those are extremely rare—much rarer than magical talent. You’ve been delving into the last floor of Mara’s dungeon, and you still haven’t found one. That shows just how rare class scrolls are.”
“Should I find a wizard to teach the kids so they can become wizards?”
“The best thing you can do is bring them to the Mage Guild so they can test whether they have magical talent. If they do, you can pay for a wizard to take them in as apprentices.”
