Dungeon Miner Slave

DMS Chapter 95

DMS Chapter 95

Since it was noon, Flinx told Olivia and her brothers that he and the four children would find a restaurant where they could eat lunch, and after they were done, it would be her and her brother’s turn. Olivia simply nodded, so after that, Flinx and the four kids left. They left two of the stone golems behind as the shop’s guards.

David guided him to one of the best restaurants. After they had eaten their fill, they immediately returned to the shop since he was sure that Olivia, Christopher, and Ambrose were hungry by then.

Once they entered the shop, Flinx saw Olivia demonstrating the effects of the soap with the loofah using the ceramic basin. The smell from the lit eucalyptus candles and the lather from the floral scented soap filled the air.

“Apparently, the smell from the candles enticed the two matrons to enter the shop,” Ambrose told Flinx.

“Do you think we should have some sort of grand opening? Like putting flowers and other stuff by the door?” Flinx asked Ambrose and Christopher.

“We talked about it while you all were eating. Olivia decided not to have one. She liked the understatement. She felt that the mysteriousness of the shop suddenly appearing to her might interest a few people,” Christopher said.

“Really? I thought that advertising our shop would be better?” Flinx asked, and Olivia’s two brothers shrugged.

After Olivia had demonstrated the effects of the soap, the two matrons tried it for themselves. After testing the soap and loofah, the two rich-looking women were delighted. Each of them brought two soaps, two candles with different scents, and one loofah. Olivia’s face was full of a smile for managing to sell to the first two people who entered the shop. She was even delighted that the two ladies didn’t want to leave and wanted to hang out inside the shop to enjoy the smell of the eucalyptus candles. The two women sat on the available chairs and started gossiping while appreciating the smell of the candles.

Flinx felt that his and the kids’ presence in the shop was unnecessary, so he decided to inform Olivia that they would return home first. Olivia told Flinx that she couldn’t leave yet since she was sure that a few more customers might come in. She said that she would ask one of her brothers to buy them food from outside. Flinx just nodded and left with the kids, leaving two of the stone golems to guard the shop.

While they were walking, Flinx told the four children that after a few days, once the shop was stable, they should expect to spend their mornings with Olivia every day learning their letters. He just smiled when the kids ignored him and kept playing around the stone golem they were calling Rocky One. Apparently, the other two golems were Rocky Two and Rocky Three.

“How do you know which one is which?” Flinx asked the kids.

“Any one of them could be Rocky One, Rocky Two, or Rocky Three. If we call on Rocky One, the one who first responds is Rocky One. If we need help from a second golem and call on him as Rocky Two, the next one who responds is Rocky Two. We don’t care which is which,” David said, and Flinx just shook his head at the kids’ whimsy.

It wasn’t that late when they reached the tower. The kids wanted to play with Pondy, but Flinx told them that the sun would set soon, so they should just play around the tower or in their rooms. The kids then started running around like crazy people.

Flinx sat in the living room thinking about his next steps. Based on the situation at home, the family. Since the family had reached stability with the new shop providing spending coins for everyone, the four children receiving education from Olivia, and once there were enough funds, her two siblings would be able to achieve their dreams of becoming a chef and adventurer using some of the earnings from the shop, it meant that he could focus on dungeon delving and leveling up his wizard class.

He thought that Olivia shouldn’t have any issues handling the finances of the family. She was an experienced local noble and knew what to do. Flinx thought that the shop should be profitable enough, and the only thing he needed to do was buy the shop’s products once in a while. The total inventory wouldn’t cost much anyway.

Flinx didn’t even need to review the shop’s accounts because, in truth, he didn’t care as long as the earnings were enough for everyone's daily spending. At first, Flinx thought that the shop could earn coins that would allow him to pay his dungeon delving taxes, but with just one dungeon run on the 30th floor, it appeared that it would be impossible for the shop to earn enough to cover his dungeon run tax. The earnings from the deeper floors of the Dungeon of Mara were simply too huge for regular gold coins to cover the tax.

He felt glad that he could focus on dungeon delving. Flinx truly wanted to level up as soon as possible. He felt guilty for letting his fellow Earthlings stay as dungeon miner slaves for the wizard enslavers. He was glad that the enslavers had lost the coordinates to Earth and couldn’t enslave any more Earthlings, but the main issue was that the last time he checked, there were only around 50 or 60 Earthlings left. If he delayed longer, the Earthlings would dwindle until none of them were left.

At the very least, the wizard enslavers had started handling the Earthlings carefully simply because they couldn’t get any more new slaves from Earth.

After a while, Flinx turned his attention to what Ambrose had said about Semanor’s friend's interest in him. Ambrose told him that the truly interested one was the lady wizard. He wondered how the magic system of this world worked.

Flinx theorized that this world’s magic system was similar to his magic system without the system panel. He thought that, just like the fantasy novels he had read, a typical person with the talent to become a mage would need to start memorizing and casting cantrips. He theorized that typical wizards would have difficulty memorizing and casting basic spells at first, but they would need to do it all the time to exercise their mana until it had grown enough that they could start memorizing more powerful spells, then keep repeating that behavior until they had grown extremely powerful.

Of course, a typical wizard also had to increase their “Intelligence” stats through studies, either from a mentor, from a school, or by reading a tremendous amount of books. Flinx wasn’t sure, though, since all of those were just theories that he had made based on fantasy novels that he had read. His system, which apparently all the other Earthlings that was kidnapped by the wizard enslavers had, bypassed all that. The only thing he needed to do to increase his wizard level was to kill monsters, just like in video games.

His plan was that once he had reached the level required for him to be able to use the 7th-level spell Plane Shift, he would try his best to rescue his fellow Earthlings. Once he had gathered the Earthlings with him, he would ask them if they wanted to join his crusade of getting back at the wizard enslavers or if they just wanted to go back home to Earth.
