Thankfully, after around an hour, the shopkeepers near Flinx’s shop returned to their businesses since customers started arriving. Flinx was an introvert, so he wasn’t comfortable amidst a crowd. He was actually glad that he was an introvert because he thought that it was a big part of how he was able to survive for a long time as a dungeon miner slave. The fact that the Earthling slaves had access to Earth’s internet also helped them greatly in staving off madness.
Flinx had a theory that those dungeon miner slaves from Earth who didn’t survive long were the extroverts who couldn’t function too long alone. He went inside the shop to wait for the furniture deliveries that would arrive. While he waited, Flinx browsed his system shopping site for other products that they could sell in the shop. He thought that just scented soaps and candles would not be enough.
Still, Flinx wanted to include a product that would be on point with the current theme of the shop had. Scented things that would interest rich women. While browsing, Flinx stumbled into one of the attractive things that would most likely tempt women. Loofas. He started browsing different types of loofas, from the natural ones that came from dried gourds, to the soft nylon mesh poufs, to the wash cloths.
Flinx thought that the most attractive ones that they could sell were the nylon mesh poufs because they were like pretty flowers and would probably be more eye-catching for women compared to the dried tropical gourds or wash cloths. He decided to add the nylon mesh poufs to their stock. The cheapest he could find was a place selling bulk loofas for 10 cents each, with a minimum purchase of 100 pieces. He planned to purchase 500 white nylon mesh pouf loofas and 500 of the pink ones.
He still hadn’t purchased any of the items since the shelves where he could store the products hadn’t arrived yet. After an hour of waiting, the first few shelves arrived.
Flinx was surprised that the 9 shelves that arrived came from a different furniture store. The shelves from different stores differed from one another. Still, the difference was minimal. He asked the delivery men to bring the shelves to the second floor, and after the deliver my arranged the shelves according to his instructions, they left without receiving a tip from Flinx, saying that they were already paid by “Ms. Olivia”.
After another hour, a few more shelves arrived, until there were a total of fifteen shelves on the second floor. Flinx started purchasing the soaps, candles, and loofas that they would sell, so soon, boxes of the products were on the second floor.
While he was buying the items from his system shopping site, a few more pieces of furniture arrived. A counter for the first floor, a living room set, some more shelves, comfortable and high-class looking chairs, beautiful lanterns, and decorations for the shop, which consisted of paintings, plants, and more. Soon, Olivia, Christopher, and Ambrose arrived. Olivia and her two brothers didn’t waste any time and started arranging the furniture downstairs, while those that were supposed to be for the second floor were brought up by the delivery men who delivered the furniture, like the classroom furniture that Olivia would use to teach the four kids.
Soon, David, Arcios, Keero, and Violet returned and started helping in arranging all the things that Olivia had purchased.
After Flinx had completed all the purchases that he had to make from his system shopping site, he checked Olivia’s arrangement for the first floor. Flinx was highly impressed by how beautiful the first floor had become. The shop looked like a medieval version of a boutique that could be found in those exclusive shops in malls.
What highly amused Flinx was the counter by the side that had a pretty pink ceramic basin paired with a large ceramic pitcher.
“That’s the place where our customer could test out our sample products,” Olivia said when she saw Flinx looking at her makeshift sink.
The arrangement of the furniture, like the complete living room set and table by the center, the shelves by the walls, the tasteful lanterns that lit up the place, brought a certain exclusive classiness to the whole place.
Flinx then asked everyone to help him arrange the items that he had “conjured” in the shelves upstairs. Everyone followed him excitedly, and when they saw the boxes of soaps, candles, and loofahs, everyone became a little giddy because in their minds, they were equivalent to gold coins.
“What are these soft balls?” Oliva asked.
“Those are called loofas. Let me show you how they worked.”
They all returned downstairs to where the makeshift sink was located. Flinx asked Ambrose to fill the pitcher with water from the toilet located by the side, and when Olivia’s brother returned. He showed everyone how the nylon mesh pouf loofahs worked by creating a lather using one of their soaps and then using the loofah to mimic scrubbing his arm. He then handed the loofa full of soap suds to Olivia, and she started experimenting with it. After rinsing her arms that were scrubbed by the soft loofah, Olivia exclaimed that her arms felt so soft.
“How much can you sell that for?” Flinx asked Olivia, and she replied that it would be best if it had the same price as the soap, which would be priced at 1 gold coin.
Flinx nodded his agreement at Olivia’s pricing. After that, they all returned to the second floor so they could all take items that he had purchased from his system shopping site from their boxes to the shelves.
It didn’t take them long to complete the task since there were a lot of them. Even the three stone golems assisted in arranging the soaps, candles, and loofahs on the shelves. After that, Olivia asked everyone to bring a few of the items back to the first floor as display products.
At first, Flinx thought that the whole place would stink of the scented soaps and it would be unbearable. He remembered that he avoided going to shops that sell soaps in the malls because he couldn’t stand the overpowering floral smell, but Flinx was impressed by the soaps’ packaging. Even though the packaging was a simple affair, it emitted minimal scent.
Olivia lit up a couple of the eucalyptus-scented candles, and soon, the sweet smell of eucalyptus filled the shop. Everyone was happy with how pretty the shop had become. Even the rowdy four kids started behaving carefully. They didn’t want to damage any of the new furniture in the shop. Everyone sat in the living room, which was placed in the center of the first floor, to rest for a bit and enjoy the shop’s atmosphere. Olivia started talking about her plans to advertise their shop, and Flinx just nodded along. Soon, someone interrupted their rest.
It was the carpenter that Olivia commissioned to make the shop’s sign. She commissioned two signs. The first one had the “Olivia’s Scented Soaps and Scented Candles” on it, and the second one was the “Open and Close” sign decorated by flowers that looked like the generic flowers that were printed on the soap’s paper packaging.
After the sign was placed on top of the shop’s window, Olivia excitedly placed the “Open” sign by the door. Of course, they weren’t expecting customers to start flooding in. They hadn’t made any form of advertisement, so their shop was unknown. It would probably take a while before the shop could gather regular customers.
