DMS Chapter 83
DMS Chapter 83
Flinx told Olivia that starting tomorrow, while continuing her shopping mission, she should try to find a good location for a small shop, preferably one with at least two floors, so they could use the second floor as a warehouse for the items they would sell. He told the kids’ tutor that she should select a shop far from food shops because the smell of the soaps and candles would be powerful and could disturb others.
Olivia nodded, accepting Flinx’s reasoning. He could see that the three siblings were beginning to get excited about the idea that they would manage a small but probably extremely lucrative shop. He saw Olivia mouthing their chosen name for the shop, which was Olivia’s Scented Soaps and Candles.
Ambrose and Christopher were excited because Flinx told them that the earnings from the shop would be the funds that they could use to further their chosen careers, which were chef for Christopher and adventurer for Ambrose.
Flinx's main reason for opening a shop was for the family to have a source of income aside from what he would give them, since, based on his goals, he would be most likely not present most of the time and would probably be inside dungeon floors, leveling up his wizard class. That was also the reason why he chose items like soaps and candles, since he could purchase a lot of them to be stored in the store’s warehouse so that Olivia and her two brothers wouldn’t run out of inventory even if he wasn’t present for a long amount of time.
Still, Flinx was tied up and had to return home every day, at least until the Galder’s Tower was permanent. Thankfully, it would only take three weeks before the tower became permanent.
After their discussion, Flinx asked Ambrose to call everyone. Once everyone was gathered, he told them something important.
“I will give everyone three days to think about their rooms and the tower in particular. You have to think of what kind of changes you want because after those three days, I wouldn’t make changes anymore, at least through magic. Once the tower became permanent, which would be in three weeks after the planned three days, any changes we would like to have would need to be created through normal means, meaning hiring professionals like carpenters and stone masons.”
Flinx was surprised when everyone told him that they didn’t need three days. Everyone had already created the desired changes they wanted, so they started their discussion about the tower.
The first floor was fine. Everyone was all right with the living room, dining room, and kitchen in one huge open space. For the second floor, Olivia and Violet wanted a better bathroom and toilet. Olivia even handed him a plan for their rooms.
Based on Olivia’s plan, there would be a door for the whole floor, and there should be three rooms: Olivia’s bedroom, Violet’s bedroom, and a huge bathroom with a bathtub, a shower, and a toilet. The plan was very detailed, like the location of the doors, windows, bed, wardrobes, and which furniture they wanted to have, like end tables and chairs, which, unfortunately, even though they would be comfortable, would be made out of stone and would be permanent.
Flinx knew that if they really wanted something that they could change the interior design easily; they could leave the rooms bare and buy furniture, but thankfully, they were wise enough not to bother him about that since it would be a huge imposition on Flinx. Even the sheets, pillow cases, carpets, rugs, and curtains were part of the Galder’s Tower spell and couldn’t be removed, so Olivia and Violet even had details on which designs and colors they wanted for their sheets and curtains. They also requested that Flinx not add sculptures and paintings since Olivia had decided that it would be better for them to get their own things, once they had the funds.
Regarding the paintings and sculptures, Flinx could understand why they didn’t want those, since they were generic things that he added to beautify the rooms, which, on second look, were not really good simply because they were not personalized.
After memorizing the two girls' floor design, it was the boys' turn. Unfortunately for them, their rooms would be much smaller since there were five of them. They had decided on four rooms. One room for David, Arcios, and Keero, with their beds placed side by side. They didn’t care too much about the design of their room, just as long as they were “manly”. They just preferred to be with one another since they wanted to play around before sleeping. Christopher and Ambrose wanted one room each, and it didn’t matter to them if their rooms were a little smaller. They just wanted to have privacy. Olivia’s brothers did have some design choices for their rooms, and they were easy enough to follow. Regarding their bathroom, they chose to have two toilets and two showers, and each one of those would be inside a private stall, which meant that they could do their business in private. They dispense with the bathtub to save space.
The fourth floor, which was supposed to be the bathroom, was changed into a combination of library and seating room that could function as an entertainment room for tea and conversation, or a study room, or a classroom. The design for the fourth floor was made by Christopher and Ambrose, and Flinx was impressed by the two boys’ creativity.
The fifth floor would be Flinx’s room. He didn’t plan to make any changes because he was satisfied with his room and bathroom design. His room had a mini study where he could use to write stuff, and his bed was big enough. The bathroom had a bathtub, a toilet, and a shower, and since the design was open, he was the only one who would be using it. There was a balcony that Flinx planned to use as a door by simply flying into it.
While Flinx memorized the new tower design, he suddenly told everyone something bitter. They had to take all the new things that recently purchased outside before he dispelled the tower.
Everyone groaned, but they worked on it immediately. Once all of their things were outside, Flinx dispelled the tower and cast it again, making sure to keep the new design in his mind. Once the Galder’s Tower reappeared, everyone rushed inside to check the new changes, and they were all delighted.
Flinx reiterated to everyone that he wouldn’t make changes anymore once they all gathered on the first floor again. After that, he told everyone that he planned to conjure a dedicated guard for the tower since the three stone golems would follow everyone.
“What kind of guardian will you conjure?” David asked.
“I plan to summon a water elemental. The guardian would look like an ordinary pond, but if there was a need, it would turn into a powerful water elemental.”
Flinx then went outside with everyone following him. He cast the 5th-level spell Conjure Elemental and the 5th-level spell Planar Binding, with both spells slotted on the 7th spell slot. The Water Elemental that was summoned was huge, which made everyone gasped and when it went next to a tree by the side to pretend to be a pond, the pond took almost half of the space just inside the gate. The pond that was the elemental looked extremely clear and inviting, and the kids asked if they could swim in it.
Flinx communicated with the water elemental and learned that it would work as normal water. That difference was that the water would be sentient and would make sure that as long as it was a person that was marked by Flinx, it would make sure that those persons would remain safe.
