Dungeon Miner Slave

DMS Chapter 37

DMS Chapter 37

For the next three days, Flinx continued practicing all of his spells in the place he designated as his practice grounds. He also practiced different battle simulations depending on which type of enemy he encountered and which terrain he was in. Thankfully, the location that he chose for his spell practice was extremely far away from the town because the noise that he had produced casting his spells was massive. That also resulted in monsters avoiding the place.

At first, he thought of casting his Galder’s Tower spell in that location, but he knew that he would not feel safe outside the town. For him to be able to rest peacefully, he needed to keep staying on the land that he purchased. Besides, with how easy for him to teleport, it was not a burden to keep traveling around.

With the number of spells that he had, Flinx decided not to add anymore for now. He truly wanted to get used to casting all of his spells before adding anymore.

After three days of practicing his spells, Flinx started to get antsy. He felt guilty about delaying his leveling-up process. He kept imagining the suffering his fellow Earthlings were experiencing at the hands of the wizards. Unfortunately, he could only return to that world once he reached level fifteen, and even if he reached that high a level, he did not know that he would have the power to rescue his fellow slaves.

Flinx decided that it was time to return to killing monsters to level up. He thought of the fact that exploring the deep in the forest with the intent of killing monsters for level was extremely dangerous, so instead, he started to consider going into a place where dungeons were located, so he could level up much faster. He also thought that maybe joining a party would also help him more instead of going solo.

He knew that the best thing to do was to speak to more experienced adventurers. He had decided that the next day, he would go to the adventurer guild and talk to someone about his requirements, and maybe someone there could give him some useful advice on how to level up fast.

But first, Flinx planned to continue exploring the forest to make sure that his decision to finally return to exploring dungeons for a faster leveling up progress was the wiser one.

When he returned to the town, Flinx saw Priest Anuel sitting on the bench he placed on one of the trees as a mark so he could easily remember the place and teleport to it without mishap. Flinx saw the priest jump in surprise when he appeared beside the bench, and he almost laughed out loud.

“Are you waiting for me, Priest Anuel?” Anton said while covering his laugh with a cough.

“Actually yest. I’m glad that you’re back. I just want to make sure that you’re doing fine. I haven’t seen you for a few days. Here in this town, we almost always assumed that if an adventurer had been missing for a long time, he had died in the forest,” The priest said.

Flinx felt a little touch that the priest was concerned about him. He told Anuel to wait a bit, and then he cast his Galder’s Tower spell. Once the wizard tower appeared, he invited the priest inside. He served the priest some snacks and a pitcher of cold juice.

“Thank you for your concern for me, sir. I’m doing fine. Actually, I need your advice. I need to hasten the rate at which I’m increasing my power, and the only way for me to do that with the type of magic that I wield is to kill a lot of monsters. Do you think it would be better for me to continue with what I’m currently doing or go to a place where there’s a high-level dungeon so I can kill more monsters faster?” Flinx asked.

Flinx was surprised that the priest did not hesitate to answer his question immediately.

“I was an adventurer when I was younger and had experience fighting monsters both in the field and inside a dungeon. I could confirm that if you’re after the number of kills, it would be better for you to go inside a dungeon. Unlike the monsters in the field like the forest here, the monsters inside the dungeons, even the high-level ones, are already known, and adventurers who frequently delved them are already familiar with the density, the power, and how the monsters fight. It would be safer for any adventurer, especially within a group, instead of going solo outside, like what you’re doing. Aside from the extreme danger of the unknown outside, the monsters in the field are territorial, especially the powerful ones. That meant that you would have to travel between monsters, and it would take a lot of time.”

With what Priest Anuel had said, Flinx discarded his idea of going outside the forest one last time to kill powerful monsters and started planning to go into a place where a high-level dungeon was located. Even though he was a little averse to delving into dungeons, since he had been doing so for the past few years as a dungeon miner slave, he felt guilty for delaying his progress. He felt he needed to rescue his fellow dungeon miner slave from Earth as soon as he could. Flinx knew what kind of suffering they were experiencing. He also knew that the rescue mission that he had taken upon himself had a high chance of killing him, but he was off in the head already and did not know if he could return to living normally, especially if he discarded the idea of rescuing the other dungeon miner slaves.

“Do you know the reason why a land was sold to you without any delay or issues?” Anuel asked, and Flinx shook his head.

“It’s because you’re an adventurer, and a foreign one at that. Everyone knows that you will not be staying here long. Either you’ll leave for a greener pasture, meaning a powerful dungeon, or you will die outside in the forest.”

Flinx just shook his head again.

“I’ve decided to go to a place where a high-level dungeon is located. I think I’ll need to talk to the adventurer guild to have an idea of which place is the best fit for me,” Flinx told the old priest.

“Just don’t forget to say goodbye before leaving. It’s just sad that this lovely tower of yours is temporary. It would have been grand for the town to have a beautiful tower like this.”

After that, the two talked about mundane things, and some of the comments made by the priest about the townspeople amused Flinx so much that during that night, he laughed nonstop. When the priest considered all the snacks that he had provided, the old man said goodbye and left for the church.

After the priest had left, Flinx took a long bath to relax, then prepared himself a nice dinner. He planned to go to the adventurer guild the next day to find out more about where he could go to delve into a high-level dungeon. He also contemplated whether he should join an adventurer group or party. He knew, though, that sooner or later, he would probably need to join one, so he could delve more efficiently. The problem was that Flinx became so socially inept that he would probably have difficulty joining groups or parties. He was an introvert, but being a slave exacerbated that behavior so greatly that he became socially awkward.
