Chapter 88 Reckoning 2
The Kanima's eyes locked onto Lucas' figure. The moment Matt gave his command, its figure sprang toward him.
The Kanima made its way in front of him before he could even react. Its claws reached for his neck.
At that moment, Lucas' brain processed the information around him at an inhuman level. Just an inch before the claws could touch his neck, he backed away with a sidestep.
Before the Kanima could attack again, a tremendous force hit the back of its neck.
"Skeeee!"
The Kanima screamed in fury and agony as its figure hit head-on the mountain ash barrier behind Lucas.
Lucas retreated a few steps as he warily observed the Kanima. He didn't dodge at the last moment to mock the creature. Just for a second, he thought he would be unable to dodge.
His brain could keep up with its moves, but his body was behind. He now realized why the Kanima seemed to always have an advantage, even against an Alpha like Derek.
"What are you waiting for?!" Matt pointed his hand toward the Kanima, then gestured toward Lucas.
This time, the creature seemed to learn its lesson. It crawled in a circle around Lucas. Its reptile-like eyes scanned Lucas from head to toe.
"Are you afraid?" Lucas suddenly straightened his back while his right hand held the spear firmly.
The Kanima didn't flinch at his sudden confident posture. Instead, it took this as an opportunity to attack. This time, its speed was even faster than the last time.
The moment the Kanima attacked, Lucas swept his spear straight at it.
A wave of pressure formed around the Kanima's figure as it swung its tail and wrapped it around Lucas' left hand.
Before the spear could hit it, the Kanima used its tail to pull itself toward Lucas, dodging the strike in the process.
Lucas was stunned by this scene, but everything happened so fast that the Kanima's figure had already flashed past him.
"Skirr!"
A sound of something hard scraping was heard as Lucas felt the skin on the back of his neck pulsing.
He turned around, glancing at the Kanima. Then he could also see, from the corner of his eye, Matt's smug expression.
When he touched the back of his neck, his skin barrier was still intact, but he felt a sticky liquid on his hand.
"Shit!" He knew he had screwed up.
He was confident in his Obsidian defense, forgetting that the venom worked even when it touched the skin.
Lucas could already feel the venom slowly paralyzing the nerves in his left hand. He now realized that his defense was far from invincible, as he had thought it was.
The Kanima didn't give him any more time to contemplate and swept its tail straight into his stomach.
Before getting hit, Lucas could only helplessly defend his body with the spear.
"Bang!"
His body hit the wall behind the barrier, his figure becoming slightly embedded in the cement around him.
"That's it!"
Matt laughed excitedly as his veins became visibly larger.
"Only I am worthy of her!" His face was already contorted. It was unknown whether it was anger or enjoyment.
"For fu*k's sake, shut up!"
Lucas' annoyed voice was heard from the wall. The dust settled as his footsteps were heard approaching the center once more.
His clothes were all tattered, and his left hand was limp. He could feel the venom spreading through all parts of his arm. Lucas grinned in pain as he felt his nerves constantly twitching.
Not paying attention to Matt, he glanced at the Kanima.
"Ready for a second round?"
Not waiting for a reply, his body sprinted toward it.
An excited smile was plastered on his lips as he violently struck the spear toward the Kanima.
He grinned as he watched the Kanima dodge, but this only bought him time to close the distance.
Right before Matt's unbelieving eyes, Lucas' head smashed straight into the Kanima's face.
"CRACK!"
The sound was loud and clear as the Kanima took a few steps back. Lucas could clearly see the creature's face caved in slightly, but also its confused reptile eyes.
"This play should be over." Lucas glanced at Matt with a smirk. "As much as I would love to explain my plan… this is not a movie!"
"What are you talking about…"
Before Matt could even finish, Lucas gripped the spear with all his strength and launched it toward the ceiling.
"Tear!"
Although unremarkable at a distance, a thick layer of plastic material was holding a large amount of water. Right as the spear ripped it apart, a large amount of water poured down on all of them.
"Ahh!"
Matt raised his hand high, and strangely enough, the Kanima mimicked his behavior.
Lucas jumped through the shower of water as he grabbed his spear back. He didn't waste any time and lunged it straight toward his target.
"SKRCH!"
