Chapter 87 Reckoning
After Stiles left, Lucas met with Allison.
"I will leave early today. You should call your dad to come and get you."
Allison glanced at him suspiciously. "Did something happen?"
"No." Lucas felt a headache coming on; he felt that she was sometimes too intuitive. This time he couldn't afford to make a mistake.
Allison wanted to keep asking about it, but he quickly stopped her.
"I'm just meeting with John."
"Fine…" Although she agreed, Allison was still sure that he was doing something else.
Lucas smiled, then gave her a quick kiss and left.

Night fell over the skies of Beacon Hills. After getting out of school, Matt went home without stopping.
The events that happened these past days still felt unreal to him. But they had also brought an opportunity to finally get his revenge.
Arriving home, Matt opened the door and made his way inside. After eating some food, he went directly to his room.
Just as he entered, a chill swept through his body when he heard a voice coming from behind him.
"Was the last meal good?"
"Wha—" Before Matt could find out who it was, he blacked out completely. Only silence remained in the room.
Right at the moment Matt lost consciousness, somewhere else a creature seemed to sense it.
••••
"Where am I?" Matt was slowly starting to wake up. His head felt disoriented, and he had no idea how much time had passed.
"Welcome!"
The sudden voice jolted him completely awake. When he looked over, Matt was stunned. In front of him stood a man dressed entirely in black.
The weirdest thing about him was the long spear on his back. When Matt took a closer look at his face, he was shocked.
"You are… Lucas!" He didn't expect that the person responsible for kidnapping him was Lucas.
Then he started struggling, trying to break free from the ropes around his hands and feet.
"Release me! Are you crazy?!"
"Tsk! Tsk! You're quite good at pretending." Lucas moved closer to him, and the next thing he said sent shivers down Matt's spine.
"Could it be that you're not afraid because you know the Kanima will come?"
Although Matt didn't know what a Kanima was, it was obvious that Lucas was referring to whatever Jackson had become.
Matt seemed to think of something and struggled harder. When he saw it was meaningless, he started observing the surroundings.
By the looks of it, he was in an abandoned warehouse. He could only tell by the roof, because they seemed to be inside a huge pit.
It was roughly the size of a swimming pool.
Suddenly, Matt's demeanor changed. He glanced calmly at Lucas, as if everything would play out according to his plan.
"You will die a miserable death!"
Lucas clapped his hands at the scene.
"That's the real Matt!"
"Bang!"
A loud noise came from outside, as if something had crashed into the warehouse.
A grin formed on Matt's lips as he felt the connection with that creature.
"I don't know what your goal is, but now you will die!"
Lucas glanced at him indifferently, then looked to his right. "My goal has just arrived."
Matt's pupils shrank, but then his body relaxed and he started laughing.
"You really think you can go against that?"
Just as Lucas expected, a gruesome monster appeared from the direction he was staring at. It crawled on all fours, with a long tail swinging behind it.
Armor-like skin, greenish in color. The Kanima stared violently at Lucas with its reptile-like eyes.
"SKREEEE—HSSSS!"
The Kanima released a distorted shriek, somewhere between a serpent's hiss and an animal's dying scream.
Then it jumped directly into the pit, its whole body heading straight toward him.
Lucas didn't stay in place. With a push of his feet, his body jumped a couple of meters back.
Gravel splattered everywhere. Just as the Kanima wanted to continue attacking, a shout from its master stopped it.
"Wait! Release me first!"
Matt wanted nothing more than to get out of there; he had a bad feeling.
The Kanima quickly complied and cut the ropes around him. Finally free, Matt looked at Lucas smugly, then walked toward a set of stairs.
He constantly glanced at Lucas, but he was relieved because the Kanima was there to stop him.
Lucas looked at him with a smile, not bothering to stop him.
Just as Matt reached out to grab the stairs, a blue wall of light blocked his hand from moving forward.
"Ahh!"
The pain made him instinctively pull his hand back, and he stared at the strange barrier in shock.
He turned toward Lucas as he finally realized what had happened.
"It's you! What have you done?!"
Lucas spun his spear around as he lazily answered,
"Just as your weaknesses affect the Kanima, its weaknesses will affect you. It's fascinating, isn't it?"
Matt trembled in rage, then turned toward the Kanima and shouted:
"Kill him! Kill him now!"
