Chap 50 : The Girl Who Fell From the Sky (Pt 7) : It was not a normal lightning strike.
Minjae had seen lightning before. He had seen it hit trees, hit buildings, strike the ground with enough force to leave craters. He knew what it looked like.
This was different.
This lightning was aimed.
It came down like a spear—straight, precise, unstoppable. It struck Sera square in the chest, and the light was so bright that Minjae had to look away. He had to cover his eyes. He had to press his hands over his ears against the sound that followed—
A sound like screaming.
But not Sera's screaming.
Something else.
Something older.
When he looked back, Sera was on the ground.
Not moving.
Minjae's body moved before his brain caught up.
He ran.
He ran across the street and stopped at the gate. He pressed the doorbell, but it wasn't working. Frantic, he started calling out Sera's name.
To his horror, as he looked closer—
She was not breathing.
He could not see her chest rising and falling.
She was not breathing.
But she wasn't waking up.
Minjae reached for his phone to call for help—
And then the sky opened.
Light.
More light than before. Brighter. Hotter. It poured down from the clouds like water from a broken dam, flooding the yard, flooding the street, flooding everything.
And in the center of the light—
A figure.
Falling.
Floating.
Drifting down like a leaf caught in a gentle wind.
Fire surrounded her—not burning fire, not destructive fire, but something else. Something that looked like wings. Something that looked like protection.
The figure landed on the grass beside Sera's body.
And Minjae's heart stopped.
It was her.
The girl with the purple hair.
The girl with the silver-green eyes.
The girl who had saved him ten years ago on a rooftop.
He would never mistake that face. Never. He had memorized every line, every curve, every detail. He had drawn her in his notebooks when he was supposed to be taking notes. He had dreamed about her almost every night for ten years.
She was real.
She had always been real.
And now she was here.
She was floating above Sera's body, her form flickering like a candle in the wind. Her liquid black suit was gone. Her sword was gone. She was wearing something else—something simpler, something that looked celestial. A white flowing gown with gold shimmer bands around her wrists.
But her face was the same.
Her hair was the same.
Her eyes were the same.
She looked down at Sera's unconscious body. She looked at the girl who was not breathing—and then she did something Minjae didn't understand.
She merged.. She folded herself into Sera's body like a sigh becoming breath. Like water becoming ice. Like something that had always belonged somewhere finally coming home.
The light faded. The fire extinguished.
The sky went quiet.
And Sera—the girl on the ground, the girl who had been struck by lightning—started to breathe.
Minjae stood frozen, trying to process what had just happened.
He also wanted to help. He wanted to run to her, to check if she was okay.
But before he could move, the front door burst open.
