Sons of a devil

Chapter 109: Whispers of tomorrow

The golden sun spilled across the kingdom, painting the castle's stones with a warm hue that seemed to make even shadows smile. Life had bloomed again in the once-broken halls of power—laughter echoed more than screams now. The air had changed, softer, brighter, like a song being hummed in the wind. For once, the brothers—Cain, Eren, and Leo—had no looming war to prepare for. Just family. Just peace.

Cain stood at the balcony overlooking the courtyard where children ran and played, their carefree joy a far cry from the world he once knew. His hand instinctively found Selene's as she stood beside him, her belly softly rounded with their growing twins. She was glowing, not just in beauty, but in peace.

"They're kicking," Selene whispered, smiling as she took Cain's hand and placed it gently on her belly.

He froze, breath caught in his throat, then laughed—softly, reverently. "They're strong already."

She leaned into him. "Like their father."

Cain kissed her temple, then rested his forehead against hers. "Like their mother."

In the gardens, Eira and Eren walked slowly, fingers intertwined, their laughter dancing with the breeze. They had been through blood and fire, betrayal and redemption. And now, they were learning love—not as an escape, but as a choice.

"You still think you're unworthy of this?" Eira asked, voice soft.

Eren glanced at her, those usually quiet eyes open and vulnerable. "Sometimes... but then you smile at me, and the voices shut up."

She stopped and kissed him, long and slow, anchoring him with her warmth. "Then I'll keep smiling."

Across the courtyard, Leo spun Zara in a playful twirl before pulling her into his arms. The youngest of the brothers had grown more than anyone realized—once the mischief-maker, now the thoughtful heart of the family. Zara pinched his cheek with a grin.
