The sun had barely begun to dip below the horizon, casting its golden hues across the palace gardens. The festive atmosphere from the previous night's celebration still lingered in the air, and the scent of fresh flowers seemed to dance through the halls. "I think I need to tell you something," she said, her voice soft but filled with an excited tremor.
Cain, who had been walking beside her with his usual quiet strength, turned his head to look at her. Selene took a deep breath, her hand still resting on her stomach. She looked up at Cain, the weight of her news pressing against her chest, but there was no fear, only a sense of peace.
"Cain," she began, her voice trembling slightly. "I think I'm pregnant."
The words hung in the air between them, and for a moment, time seemed to stretch. Cain's face shifted from curiosity to a mixture of surprise and something softer, something deeper. His eyes softened, and he stepped closer to her, his hand reaching out to gently touch her arm.
