Chapter 102: Brighter days
The kingdom of Eldralore was beginning to blossom anew. It was as if the land itself was breathing a sigh of relief, the scars from the long war slowly fading away as time passed. The brothers—Cain, Leo, and Eren—had spent the last few weeks getting used to their new normal, free from the constant pressure of war, enemies, and political scheming. The air around them felt lighter, the once oppressive weight of the future now lifted as they embraced the peace they had fought so hard for.
Despite the calm, life still had a way of keeping things interesting.
Today, the brothers found themselves once again in the royal gardens, but this time, the atmosphere was different. There was no obstacle course or competition, no playful teasing or chaotic bickering. The palace had been quiet lately, with their parents handling the delicate political affairs of the kingdom and Selene busy with her duties. For once, the brothers were alone, and the silence was... a little too quiet for Cain.
"You know, I'm starting to get bored again," Leo said, tossing a small rock into the nearby fountain, the plop echoing in the stillness. "This peace thing is nice, but it's not active enough."
Cain shot him a sideways glance. "Is that your way of saying you miss almost dying?"
Leo grinned, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "Well, I'm not exactly missing it, but I'm definitely missing the thrill. The feeling of being at the edge of something... unpredictable."
"You're a crackhead," Eren said, shaking his head. "You want to go back to almost dying?"
"I didn't say I wanted to go back," Leo protested. "I just said... I miss the challenge. The excitement. You know, something to keep me on my toes."
Cain sighed. "You guys are impossible. You're telling me you want a new war?"
