Sons of a devil

Chapter 90: Cracks in the light

The morning after the battle was unsettlingly quiet.

Mist coiled around the forest outside the safe house, and dew clung to the window panes like tears. The siblings were gathered in the kitchen, where the usual chaos had melted into wary silence.

Selene sat curled up on the couch, her skin still pale, golden veins faintly glowing beneath. Cain hadn't left her side since the night before. He perched on the floor beside her, one hand loosely held in hers, his eyes never drifting far.

Across the room, Eren paced restlessly. "This silence feels wrong."

"It is," Leo said, leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed. "The air's too still. Like we're being watched."

They were right.

Because Eira was gone.

Vanished in the night without a word. Her bed untouched. Her boots missing.

"She's not just out getting fresh air," Eren muttered, jaw clenched. "Not with that storm in her eyes yesterday."

"She saw Selene's power," Leo said quietly. "You saw how she looked—like it wasn't awe, it was envy."

Cain's voice was sharp. "Don't. She's our sister."
