Strongest Maid In Another World

Chapter 94: The Hunters Become The Hunted

The Dark Daggers made their move, the sounds of dirt crunching echoing in the quiet night. Lucien’s eyes gazed over head, seeing the caravan of the wealthy merchant in the distance.

’We’re close,’ He thought, his eyes gleaming with greed. ’All these hours trailing behind these fools, It’ll all be worth it, we’ve stumbled across a gold

He noticed that they had stopped, the caravan being situated near a forest entry, he hopped off the driver’s seat of his caravan, the ground trembling under his weight as a henchmen approached him.

"Sir, the target has stopped, do we initiate an attack?" The henchmen asked, Lucien shaking his head as he leaned against the caravan.

"No, it’s too early to go ahead and attack, we need to wait for them to have fallen asleep, that way we can utilize our Stealth Skills and get away much easier with the murder and abduction." He said, the henchmen nodding in understanding.

’The goods that merchant has would help us alot in securing funds for better gear and Skill Books, hiring more mercenaries would benefit the Dark Daggers expansion.’ He thought to himself, scratching his chin contemplatively.

He saw the merchant’s caravan as an opportunity, an opportunity too delicious to pass up, and he needed to make sure that he could take every ounce of worth from his soon-to-be victims, his hand brushing against the blade resting on his hip.

They waited for a long time, as more hours had passed, the moon rising high into the night, and the ability to see in the dark getting far more difficult. The conditions Lucien knew he and his men could thrive in.

"Alright, let’s go, we’ve got no time to waste." Lucien said, instructing his men as they began to move towards the forest, the sounds of their footsteps pounding against the dirt as they rushed forward with incredible speeds.

As C and B Rank adventurers, their speeds allowed them to travel at incredible speeds, the forest clearing to the wealthy merchant’s caravan drawing close as they reached their destination in under a few minutes.

"The caravan, check it out." Lucien ordered, his henchmen rushing towards the vehicle as they looked inside it, searching every nook and cranny for goods the wealthy merchant could’ve hidden.

"There’s nothing in here boss!" A reply came from one of his henchmen, Lucien gritting his teeth in annoyance.

’Nothing? I see this merchant has a good head on his shoulders, judging by that action alone it seems they knew we were coming.’ He thought to himself, the thought not too far fetched as he made sure that they were far out of range to be seen.

Perhaps there was an adventurer among the group with the ability to see that far? What nonsense, he didn’t want to believe an adventurer could possess an ability like that.

Abilities that granted users insane range and perceptive capabilities were rare to come by, as they were mostly utilized by [Marksman] Classes, and didn’t provide that much of a range increase, especially not when the distance between the two of them was that large.

’Well whatever the case is, we need to find them and capture them all quickly, they couldn’t have gone far.’ Lucien thought to himself, turning his attention back to his men.

"Spread out and search for them! I want every single one of you keeping an eye out and venturing into those woods to go and look for them, but do not alert them if you find them, regroup and move together if necessary!"

"Yes sir!" The bandit group said in unison, grabbing torches as they made them ablaze, the surroundings being illuminated by the fierce light as they began to venture into the woods immediately, the group of bandits moving as quick as they can, and as sneakily as they can to search for their targets immediately.

Loraine, having set up the trap, lied rested at a campfire, her eyes closed in blissful awareness and perception, her [Maiden’s Intuition] Skill ready to fire off signals the moment a flicker of danger made its way to her.

She was the going to be the ones the bandits found first, everyone already being in position and every trap, Yura and the adventurers being at a nearby location well hidden within the forest, the traveling merchant, Sarah, and the goods being safely secured.

’!!???!?’ Loraine’s eyes shot open as a jolt of danger slammed into her body, her body remaining still to give the illusion that she was still asleep, but her senses fully awake and ready as she felt an ominous presence approaching rapidly from the shadows, the small sounds of bushes rustling and dirt crunching echoing in her ears.

’They’re here, stay calm....It’s important they don’t notice anything wrong.’ Loraine thought, her chest rising and falling as she pretended to be asleep, her body rested comfortably near the crackling campfire.

A bandit steadily approached Loraine’s location, noticing the small flicker of dancing flames in the distance, stopping abruptly as he crouched behind some bushes, the sounds of his torch crackling in the silent night echoing softly.

He was utilizing his [Stealth] Skill, the Skill greatly increasing his ability to sneak and remain undetected, but an ability like this was still very easy for Loraine to perceive with her [Maiden’s Intuition] Skill boosted by 10x it’s original power.

"Found them," The bandit whispered to himself, not knowing that a certain young maiden could hear him from several miles away.

"Phew!" The bandit blew out the flames surrounding the torch, enveloping his form and the surroundings in darkness, allowing his figure to blend into the shadows almost seamlessly.

He approached the small clearing where Loraine was located, his figure hidden behind a try as he eyed the white haired maiden sleeping by herself. The first thought that crossed his mind was confusion, why was the white haired maiden sleeping all by herself?

’Where the hell are the rest of them? Are they located in different areas?’ The bandit thought to himself, his eyes staring deeply at the white haired maiden.

’Quit staring you weirdo!’ Loraine thought to herself, feeling greatly uncomfortable as she could feel the bandit’s stare searing into her back, sending uncomfortable shivers all over her body, Loraine’s muscles locking up in place as she did her best not to move.

The bandit soon scurried away into the darkness, giving Loraine some breathing room as the bandit retreated to go and get the rest of his group, a few minutes later, the whole group was approaching Loraine.

’Damn the blood lust is even more frightening up close, it feels like it’s crushing my chest and making my bones creak just from the pressure.’ She thought to herself, a shaky breath escaping her lips as she did her best to keep pretending that she was still asleep.

The footsteps stooped as they approached the clearing, crunching against the soft grass as multiple figures made their way out of the shadows, cloaked in black clothing and holstering weapons on their bodies.

From the group of bandits, Lucien emerged, his eyes landing on the sleeping young woman in front of them, his face scrunched up in confusion.

’Where the hell are they? Why is this woman the only one here?’ Lucien thought, not wanting to speak out loud as he didn’t want to alert this woman.

He glanced over at the henchman that brought him here, nodding his head in a silent order to handle the white haired woman, but the henchman was stopped dead in his tracks, a flicker of magical energy in the air, his eyes wide in horror, the sight confusing Lucien.

’What the hell is wrong with him?’ Lucien thought to himself, terribly confused. He glanced over at his other henchmen, seeing that all of them were deeply frozen in fear.

It was only after he looked closely could he notice a strange blue aura surrounding their bodies, pressing hard on their mouths and keeping them from being able to talk, and gripping every part of their body in a powerful grip that locked up their muscles, rendering them unable to move.

"!?" His eyes widened in realization as he noticed that one of his henchmen were looking up, his eyes glancing upward as he what he saw frightened him to his core.

Weapons, swords, cleavers, bows, and spears were floated in the air, surrounded by a powerful blue force of magical energy, a strong grip wrapping around him as he felt his body being greatly restrained.

’A trap!?’ Lucien thought to himself in realization, but by then it was too late.

SLASH!!!!!

"ARGHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
