Revenge Karma: She Broke Our Childhood Promise, But Her Tomboy Best-friend Saved Me.

The First Night

"...I know," she said, while her fingers moved from my chest to the button of my jeans.

The air in the room seemed to evaporate.

My breath hitched in my throat and my heart kept slamming against my ribs with the force of a battering ram.

I braced myself for the sudden rush of heat, for the frantic, consuming fire that I had seen burning in her golden eyes.

But it didn't come.

Instead of unfastening the metal button, her hands slid past my waist, and she wrapped her arms securely around my lower back and, with a gentle but firm pull, brought my chest flush against hers.

She didn't push for more. She just held me.

For the first few minutes, I was rigid, my muscles tense with anticipation and a lingering, irrational fear of making a mistake, but Akane simply buried her face into the crook of my neck, her breathing slow and steady, her arms acting as a weighted blanket over my fractured soul.

She was probably testing me, I could feel it.

Akane wanted to see how I would react to pure, unadulterated physical closeness without the pressure of performance.

She was giving me the time to let my mind catch up to my body, to realize that this wasn't a transaction, nor a frantic escape from the pain. It was just us.

As the minutes ticked by in the silent, purged room, the tension slowly drained from my limbs.

Then, I let my full weight settle against her and wrapped my arms around her shoulders, burying my face in her dark, jagged hair, listening to the rhythmic thud-thud-thud of her fast heartbeat against my chest.

Beneath her calm, dominant exterior, the untouchable Akane Takanashi was just as nervous, just as electrified as I was.

I don't know how long we stayed like that, tangled together on the messy bed, simply breathing each other in while she sometimes stroked my hair, but with every passing second, the last lingering shadows of the boy I used to be were quietly extinguished. I felt a profound, overwhelming sense of clarity wash over me.

I didn't want to just be held anymore. I knew for sure that in that moment, I really wanted to claim her, just as fiercely as she had claimed me.

Slowly, I pushed myself up, resting my weight on my forearms so I could look down at her.

In that moment, Akane opened her eyes, and her golden irises caught the faint moonlight spilling through the window.

An unspoken, profound understanding passed between us, a silent conversation that carried more weight than a thousand spoken vows.

"Are you sure?" Her eyes seemed to ask, searching the depths of mine.

"I have never been more sure of anything in my life," my gaze replied.

I saw the exact moment she surrendered as her lips curled into a small, delicate smirk, while her right hand tenderly caressed my cheek.

My heart could feel that the fierce, protective walls she had built around her simply dissolved.

Then, Akane let out a soft, shuddering breath, and slowly, trustingly, she closed her eyes, offering herself to me completely.

I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers without thinking for one more second.

It wasn't a frantic clash of teeth, nor a desperate, hungry bite.

It was agonizingly slow; a kiss of absolute reverence, where I felt the softness of her lips and the slight, nervous tremor in her breath.

Everything was completely different from that time in her room; I could feel it deep in my bones.

Then, Akane moved.

Her hands slid up from my waist, her fingers tangling in the hair at the nape of my neck, pulling me deeper into the kiss.

She opened her mouth beneath mine, turning the sweet, tentative touch into something heavy, intoxicating, and honey-sweet.

I tasted the lingering peppermint on her breath, mixed with the raw, addictive essence of her.

Every movement of her tongue against mine felt like a chain breaking, and with every second that passed, I felt lighter, bolder, more entirely free.

In that moment, I was a man drinking from an oasis I had finally found after wandering in a desert for seven years.

As my lips left her mouth, tracing a hot, wet path along the sharp line of her jaw, Akane tilted her head back instinctively, baring her throat to me.

'She looks so... vulnerable...'

Without thinking twice, I pressed my lips against the sensitive skin of her neck, right over her pulse point, and felt the frantic, wild fluttering of her heart beneath my mouth.

I kissed her there, softly at first, before my teeth gently grazed her collarbone.

Akane let out a low, breathless moan, a sound so incredibly vulnerable and feminine that it sent a shockwave of pure fire straight to my groin.

Her hands tightened in my hair, and her back arched slightly off the mattress, pressing her body more firmly against mine.

The friction between us was undeniable. As she shifted beneath me, she inevitably felt the hard, heavy evidence of my arousal pressing urgently against her hip.

Akane gasped, her eyes flying open, and brought her hands down, resting her palms flat against my chest, gently stopping my downward momentum.

She looked up at me, her chest heaving, her golden eyes dark and serious.

The teasing smirk was gone, replaced by something else.

"Shin..." she whispered, her voice a ragged, breathless rasp. "You know that if you choose this... if we cross this line tonight... There is no going back. We can never just be friends after this. The past is dead. So I'll ask again. Are you completely sure about that? Do you really want me, Shin?" She whispered while caressing my face with her right hand.

I looked down at her, and saw the fear hiding behind her fierce eyes—the fear that I might wake up tomorrow and regret it, the fear that the ghost of Kurone might still have a hold on me.

Lying to Akane would've meant lying to myself, and I knew that we would've hurt each other deeply. But, deep down, I knew what I wanted, for the first time. I didn't even care that everything was happening so fast. In that moment, my only truth was Akane.

I reached up, my hand covering hers where it rested over my heart, and laced my fingers through hers, pressing her palm against the steady, heavy beating in my chest.

"I don't care, Akane," I said, my voice resonating with an absolute, unshakable certainty. "I will take full responsibility for it. I want the past to stay dead."

I leaned my forehead against hers, looking so deeply into her eyes that I felt like I was staring into her soul.

"I owe you for saving my life that day on the roof, Akane," I whispered fiercely. "You didn't just pull me back from the edge; you gave me a reason to open my eyes. You gave me a second chance. And now... I want to give it to you. I am choosing you. I don't care that everything is happening too fast."

Akane stared at me with wide eyes for some instants, and a profound silence filled the room.

Then, I watched a single, crystalline tear gather in the corner of her golden eye, reflecting the moonlight before it slipped down her cheek and disappeared into her dark hair.

In that moment, I could feel that the last of her fears evaporated, and a beautiful, radiant, entirely genuine smile spread across her face. Not the sharp smile of the lone wolf, but the soft, loving smile of a girl who had finally been chosen.

"Alright," she whispered.

And from that single word, everything began.

I immediately reached for the hem of her dark sweater, and she lifted her arms, helping me pull the heavy fabric over her head and toss it carelessly onto the floor to join the ghosts of my past.

I followed suit, ripping my charcoal turtleneck off with a frantic, sudden urgency.

'I want her,' my soul screamed, and Akane's eyes spoke more than a thousand words.

When my bare chest met hers for the first time, a sharp gasp tore from both of our throats.

The contrast was beautiful.

Her skin was incredibly pale, smooth, and adorned with the dark, intricate ink of her tattoos—a constellation of abstract lines and shadows that seemed to dance in the low light. My skin was flushed, hot, and thrumming with adrenaline.

"You're beautiful," I breathed, my eyes roaming over the ink on her ribs, my hands mapping the curve of her waist.

Akane let out a small chuckle and looked at me with passionate and soft eyes. "Hah! You're really saying that in a moment like that?" Akane said, before sealing my lips for an instant.

I smiled at her, feeling a wave of warmth all around my heart.

"So are you, my ghost boy," she murmured, her hands tracing the muscles of my arms, her fingernails lightly scratching against my skin, sending a shiver of pure electricity down my spine.

There was a beautiful, clumsy urgency to the way we shed the rest of our clothes. It wasn't the choreographed, flawless perfection of a movie scene; it was real, messy, and driven by a seven-year hunger that could no longer be denied.

Fingers fumbled with buttons, zippers snagged, and soft, breathless laughter mixed with our heavy panting.

When there were no more barriers between us, I hovered over her, supporting my weight on my forearms.

She looked up at me, her chest rising and falling rapidly, clearly unable to wait any longer.

Her golden eyes were blown wide, entirely vulnerable.

The girl who projected absolute dominance to the rest of the world was giving me the purest, most terrifyingly honest part of herself.

"S-Shin... I want you, now, please," Akane begged, while her hand stroked me down there.

The touch of her hand on my thing was soft and delicate, and the sensation was amazing.

"A-Akane... Ah~" That was the first time a girl touched me there, so I couldn't hold back my embarrassing moans.

"You're so cute, Shin... and so... big, holy... Mmh~ I feel like I'm the luckiest girl in the world right now, I swear," Akane moaned, while her stroking became faster.

"You're teasing me too much, Akane—" I said, while gently moving her hand away.

"Oh? So... directly for the main event~?" Akane whispered, nibbling on my earlobe, sending me a shiver down my spine.

"Well... I just can't wait to be one with you, Akane," I said, while gently caressing her cheek.

"Jeez... you're impossible," Akane smiled warmly, leaning into my touch and closing her eyes for an instant.

Under my touch, I could feel that Akane was trembling a little.

"Hey... are you okay, Akane?" I asked, clearly worried by that.

Akane immediately reached my cheek again and smiled.

"Yes, Shin. I'm totally fine, it's just... that this is my first time, and I guess that I'm pretty nervous so..." Akane said, while gently kissing my cheek, "...be gentle this time, okay?" She asked.

She was so beautiful. But other than that, she was... honest.

After I heard her request, I immediately stroked her hair and kissed her forehead, and in that moment, I could feel that her body softened.

"I've got you, Akane," I whispered, echoing the words she had said to me when I was falling apart. I leaned down and kissed her softly, my thumb stroking her cheek. "I promise."

"I know," she breathed against my lips, her legs wrapping around my hips, pulling me closer. "I trust you, Shin, so take me now, I can't wait anymore."

And after hearing those last words, I slowly moved to get inside her, trying to be as gentle as possible.

Akane kept holding me in a firm grip, with her nails digging deep into my back, while my mouth was tracing a line of kisses on her neck, trying to calm her down.

I could feel her moans as I moved further in.

"Ahhh~! S-Shin...! So... big—Ah!" Akane moaned, tightening her grip around me.

"Do you want me to stop, Akane?" I asked, while stroking her hair.

She immediately shook her head and caressed my back. "No, go on, Shin, please, I want to feel all of you." She said, her hips moving against mine.

And so, I pressed further.

"Ahhh, F-Fuck...!" Akane exclaimed, clinging to me as if I'd disappear if she let go.

'So hot... this feels so amazing...' I thought, enjoying every second of her insides squeezing me.

When we finally fully joined together, the sensation was so intense, so overwhelmingly profound, that the entire world outside the four walls of my bedroom ceased to exist.

As I went even further, Akane let out a sharp, choked cry, her fingernails digging more deeply into my shoulders as she arched her back. I froze instantly, my heart clenching with the fear of hurting her, my muscles locked in place.

"Akane? Are you okay? Should I stop?" I asked frantically, my voice trembling.

She opened her eyes, shaking her head again side to side on the pillows.

Then, she reached up, her hands cupping my face, pulling me down until our lips were agonizingly close.

"Don't you dare stop," she hissed, her voice a mixture of pain and profound, desperate pleasure. "Don't stop, Shin. Please."

And then, I started to move slowly, deliberately, and agonizingly patiently.

With every movement, the initial tension in her body melted away, replaced by a rising, frantic heat.

Her hands left my face, sliding down my back to grip my hips, pulling me into her rhythm, and the friction between us was a physical manifestation of everything we hadn't been able to say over the past forty-eight hours.

Every time our skin slid together, I felt another layer of the pathetic, subservient boy being burned away.

I was no longer the guy who carried pink bags; instead, I was the man who was making the most terrifying girl in school gasp and writhe beneath me, her voice breaking into a symphony of high, needy moans that filled the empty spaces of my house.

"Shin... Shin... I feel so fucking good right now~ mmh—!" she chanted my name like a mantra, her head tossing side to side on the pillows, her golden eyes squeezed shut in ecstasy.

Her voice calling my name was the most beautiful music I had ever heard. It was a plea for more of me.

While moving, I leaned down, capturing her lips in a deep, bruising kiss, swallowing her moans.

I tasted salt—whether it was sweat or tears, I didn't know, and I didn't care.

We were completely, inextricably tangled together, with the scent of sandalwood and cedar mingling with the heavy, musky scent of our bodies, creating an atmosphere heavy enough to suffocate.

I lost all sense of time. There was no past, no present, no future in that room.

There was only the heat of her skin, the tightness of her body around mine, and the frantic, animalistic sounds of our shared breathing.

As the tension coiled tighter and tighter in my gut, spiraling toward a breaking point, I opened my eyes.

Akane was looking up at me, and her golden eyes were shining with tears, her lips swollen and parted, her face a portrait of absolute, unmasked love.

"I'm yours, Shin," she whispered fiercely, her voice cutting through the haze of pleasure. "Only yours."

The words shattered the final dam inside me.

"And I am yours," I groaned, the truth of it echoing in my very bones.

Akane and I kept going for a long time, with our movements becoming rougher and more passionate with every passing moment.

"Shin.. fuck~ Ahh! You're so fucking good—! Ahh! I'm about to—Mmmhh—!" She moaned even louder than before.

I was on the verge of breaking point, too. I couldn't hold back anymore.

"Akane... me too, I'm—!" And in that moment, Akane silenced me with her index finger.

"I know, I can feel your monster twitching inside me, so please... do it inside, I want to feel every last bit of you, Shin—Ahhh!" She said, her nails digging into me even more and tightening the grip around me with her legs.

The feeling of being inside Akane was amazing.

"Akane—!" I said, my voice dying in my throat, replaced by a long moan.

I drove into her one last, deep time as the climax hit me like a tidal wave and buried my face in the crook of her neck, with my body shuddering violently as I poured every ounce of my pent-up emotion, my gratitude, and my newborn love into her.

Beneath me, Akane let out a long, high, shattering cry. Her body went rigid, her inner muscles clamping down around me with a force that stole the breath from my lungs, and her fingernails bit into my back, anchoring me to her as the waves of pleasure crashed over us both.

We stayed like that for a long, long time.

I collapsed against her, my chest heaving, my heart hammering a frantic, erratic beat against hers, but I supported my upper body weight on my elbows so I wouldn't crush her, even though I couldn't bring myself to pull away.

I really wanted to stay buried inside her forever.

The silence of the purged room slowly returned, broken only by the sound of our ragged breathing.

Akane's hands were moving slowly up and down my spine, her touch light, soothing, and incredibly tender.

Then, I turned my head, pressing a soft, lingering kiss against the sweat-dampened skin of her neck.

"You're crying," she murmured softly.

I hadn't even realized it.

I lifted my head, blinking back the tears that were blurring my vision, but they weren't tears of grief or the bitter, stinging tears I had shed for Kurone.

They were hot, heavy tears of absolute relief.

The colossal weight that I had been carrying for a quarter of my life was probably gone.

As I looked down at her, Akane reached up, her thumb gently brushing the tear from my cheek.

Her golden eyes were incredibly soft, filled with a quiet, triumphant peace.

"I'm just... happy, I guess," I whispered, the word feeling strange and entirely new on my tongue. "I'ts a very strange sensation, Akane."

A slow, breathtaking smile spread across her face as she reached up, wrapping her arms around my neck, and pulled me down into a soft, deep kiss.

"Welcome back to the world, ghost boy," she murmured against my lips.

I rolled off her, pulling her body flush against my side, and Akane immediately curled into me, resting her head on my chest, her arm draped across my stomach.

Then, I wrapped the duvet around us, trapping our shared heat, and looked up at the ceiling of my bedroom.

The corkboard was empty, the floor was clear, and the ghosts were gone.

I tightened my arm around the girl who had saved my life, inhaling the scent of cedar and peppermint, and closed my eyes.

For the first time in seven years, I wasn't afraid of waking up tomorrow...
