Naruto: Might Guy's Path to Invincibility

CHAPTER 123

"Who?!"

Inside the tent, Guy's pupils contracted sharply.

Uchiha Shisui?

The prodigy hailed as one of the greatest geniuses in Uchiha Clan history?

The Uchiha Shisui who awakened the Three Tomoe Sharingan at a young age and later awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan, gaining the legendary genjutsu Kotoamatsukami?

Guy's heart trembled.

That's right.

Uchiha Shisui was indeed active during the Third Shinobi World War.

According to the fragments of information Guy remembered, Shisui awakened his Three Tomoe Sharingan after witnessing the death of a comrade and experiencing the agony of being unable to save them. Later, after suffering another immense emotional blow, he awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan and obtained the terrifying power known as Kotoamatsukami.

"Wait!"

Guy suddenly thought of something, and his body stiffened.

The Mangekyo Sharingan.

An overwhelming trauma.

His expression immediately darkened.

A certain detail surfaced in his memory.

What kind of trauma could drive someone like Shisui to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan?

What could possibly leave such a deep scar on an Uchiha prodigy?

Guy instinctively thought of one possibility.

The death of his father.

Moreover, in the future records and stories he remembered, Shisui's father was almost never mentioned.

There was no notable information about him at all.

For a powerful Uchiha shinobi in his prime to simply disappear from history, there was only one explanation that truly made sense.

The war.

Combining the fragmented memories from his previous life with the information Anko had just revealed, a clear and heavy chain of logic gradually formed in his mind.

Uchiha Feiquan would very likely die during this war.

And that event might very well become one of the major emotional shocks that shaped Uchiha Shisui's future.

Guy honestly wasn't particularly concerned about Shisui's personal history.

The two of them had never met.

There was no friendship between them.

No bond whatsoever.

His impression of Shisui wasn't especially good or bad.

In fact, if he was being honest, the impression Shisui left on him wasn't even as deep as Pakura's.

But that wasn't the issue.

The problem was...

The place he was about to report to was precisely the unit commanded by Uchiha Feiquan.

If his deduction was correct, then what did that mean?

It meant that at some point in the future, Outpost No. 8 would very likely face a brutal battle capable of killing even its commander.

It was potentially an outpost destined to suffer severe casualties.

And he, along with Ebisu and Genma, was about to walk straight into it.

What made Guy's heart sink even further was that he knew absolutely nothing about the details of that future event.

"Hey, Guy, what's wrong?"

"You've been distracted for a while now."

Ebisu adjusted his sunglasses and leaned closer, speaking quietly.

Genma also cast a questioning glance in his direction.

Guy took a deep breath.

He shook his head and forced a smile.

"It's nothing."

"I was just thinking about our new captain."

"I wonder what kind of person an Uchiha elite jonin with the Three Tomoe Sharingan is."

He couldn't reveal his deductions.

First, there was no way to explain where such information came from.

Second, doing so would only increase his teammates' anxiety.

For now, all he could do was remain as vigilant as possible.

"Doesn't matter what he's like."

"As long as he's better than certain commanders from Mount Kikyo."

Genma spoke calmly while biting his senbon.

It was obvious who he was referring to.

Ebisu immediately snickered and nodded in agreement.

Guy listened to their banter and couldn't help smiling.

At this point, there was no avoiding it.

They had to report to their assignment.

The only thing they could do was take things one step at a time.

"Thanks, Anko."

Guy composed himself, carefully rolled up the scroll, and stored it inside his ninja pouch.

His expression returned to normal, as though his earlier shock had never happened.

"Be careful on the way."

Anko looked at them seriously.

"The front lines are completely different from the rear camp."

"Stay alert at all times."

"Understood."

The three nodded.

After packing their belongings, they left the tent.

The camp was already bustling despite the early hour.

Thin trails of cooking smoke rose into the air while shinobi hurried back and forth.

Without wasting any time, they followed the simple route map attached to the transfer order and headed toward the eastern exit of the camp.

The path wasn't complicated.

Just as Anko had said, the destination wasn't very far away.

Several hours later, after passing through a sparse forest, the terrain ahead gradually began to rise.

In the distance, the outline of a small camp built against a hillside came into view.

Wooden fences enclosed the area.

Several tents were scattered throughout the compound.

Faint figures could be seen standing atop the watchtowers.

The camp wasn't large.

Even at full capacity, it probably housed only around thirty people.

This was Outpost No. 8.

The place where Uchiha Feiquan was stationed.

Looking at the camp ahead and thinking about meeting their new captain, Ebisu and Genma couldn't help feeling slightly nervous.

The three approached together.

The guards at the entrance spotted them from afar and immediately became alert.

One of them raised his hand.

"Stop right there!"

His voice was cold and stern, carrying the natural pride often associated with members of the Uchiha Clan.

Guy stepped forward and presented the transfer order.

"Konoha shinobi Might Guy, Ebisu, and Shiranui Genma."

"We have been assigned to report to Outpost No. 8 under Captain Uchiha Feiquan."

The two guards appeared to be young men in their twenties.

One accepted the transfer scroll and carefully inspected the Hokage's seal, Orochimaru's signature, and the mission details.

The other silently scrutinized the three newcomers.

While the verification was underway, Guy and his teammates also observed the camp.

The three exchanged subtle looks.

A strange feeling appeared simultaneously in all of their eyes.

This was clearly a Konoha frontline outpost.

Yet the atmosphere felt completely different from either Mount Kikyo or the Land of Waves.

They couldn't immediately identify why.

They simply felt that something was off.

Different.

Guy suddenly realized what it was.

His gaze swept through the camp.

Then his pupils contracted sharply.

Inside the camp...

Not a single person was wearing the standard Konoha flak jacket.

Guy continued looking around.

The shinobi walking through the camp, standing watch, and training...

Every single one of them wore the same style of high-collared black combat attire.

Their collars rose high enough to nearly cover their chins.

Most striking of all, on the backs of those uniforms...

Without exception...

Was the iconic red-and-white fan crest of the Uchiha Clan.

The entire camp.

Every single shinobi present.

Was an Uchiha.

Ebisu and Genma had clearly noticed it as well.

Ebisu instinctively pushed up his sunglasses and whispered:

"Why are they all Uchiha?"

"Did we come to the wrong place?"

Genma kept his senbon between his teeth and remained silent.

However, a trace of caution appeared in his eyes.

Everyone knew the Uchiha Clan could be somewhat insular.

But this was wartime.

Everyone was fighting for Konoha.

Guy and the others had never thought much about it before.

No matter how exclusive the Uchiha were, surely they wouldn't take it this far on the battlefield.

And yet...

They had arrived at an outpost composed entirely of Uchiha Clan members.

What exactly was going on?

Guy also felt a chill run through him.

Anko had only mentioned that the commander was Uchiha Feiquan.

She had never said that Outpost No. 8 consisted entirely of Uchiha.

"A setup like this..."

"Is it a specialized Uchiha combat unit?"

"Or some kind of special operations detachment with the Uchiha serving as the core force?"

Guy had no answer.

He suspected Anko probably didn't know either.

If she had known, she likely would have mentioned it.

Another thought suddenly surfaced in his mind.

His eyelid twitched.

"Dammit..."

"Could Orochimaru have done this intentionally?"

"Because I rejected him, does he want me to die on the battlefield so he can conveniently collect my corpse?"

"Or is he waiting for me to fall into a desperate situation so he can swoop in and make me owe him a favor?"

Countless possibilities flashed through Guy's mind.

At that moment, the shinobi examining the transfer order finally handed it back.

His tone softened slightly, though it still carried little warmth.

"Identity verified."

"You may enter."

"Captain Feiquan is in the main tent."

The guard stepped aside and cleared the path.

Guy pushed aside the chaotic thoughts in his mind.

Regardless of the circumstances, reporting in came first.

He put away the transfer order.

Then, together with Ebisu and Genma, he walked into the camp.
