Kurenai Yuhi, Shikuro Aburame, and Asuma Sarutobi had been assigned to the Land of Rice Fields battlefield ever since graduating from the Academy. The three served directly under Inoichi Yamanaka.

Ebisu and Genma had long noticed that the relationship between Guy and Kurenai was somewhat unusual.

Even though they were only ten years old now, this was an era of endless war, where shinobi stood on the boundary between life and death every single day. Such an environment often accelerated the awakening of certain emotions.

Between young boys and girls, that vague sense of goodwill would be magnified many times over.

In other words, premature maturity.

As teammates who lived together, trained together, and fought through life-and-death situations together, Ebisu and Genma had already developed a tacit understanding.

The relationship between Guy and Kurenai...

Was definitely not ordinary.

Ebisu chuckled and winked.

"Some people even specially prepared a gif..."

Before he could finish speaking, Guy reacted with astonishing speed.

His eyes flashed.

With a swift movement of his hand, he accurately grabbed one of the remaining dango from the table and stuffed it directly into Ebisu's open mouth.

"Mmph!!"

Caught completely off guard, Ebisu was instantly silenced.

The rest of his sentence turned into a series of muffled noises.

At the same time, beneath the table, Genma unceremoniously stepped hard on Ebisu's foot.

The force was anything but light.

"Hiss!"

Ebisu sucked in a breath of cold air, tears nearly forming in his eyes.

Looking up, he met Genma's warning glance.

Genma then subtly glanced toward Anko, who was still seriously drawing on the table while explaining the battlefield situation.

The meaning in his eyes was perfectly clear.

Idiot. Read the room.

Anko is still here.

"Uh..."

Embarrassment immediately appeared on Ebisu's face.

The full sentence he had intended to say was:

"Some people even specially prepared a gift, you know."

Now he instantly realized the problem and wisely shut his mouth.

Anko had generously invited them to eat. Even if she was probably feeling heartbroken over her wallet right now, she was still the host.

Meanwhile, they were sitting here discussing how Guy had prepared a gift for another girl.

No matter how one looked at it, that felt somewhat inappropriate.

It wasn't as though Guy and Anko shared any special relationship.

But when someone is treating you to a meal, bringing up gifts intended for someone else was still awkward.

Ebisu hurriedly chewed and swallowed the dango.

Then he sat upright and returned to a serious expression.

As though the person smirking moments ago had never been him.

Anko gave him a strange look, but she wasn't the type to dwell on trivial matters.

She continued drawing on the tabletop with her damp finger.

"This is roughly the current situation on the front line."

"There haven't been any large-scale offensives recently, but small-scale skirmishes occur constantly."

"Reconnaissance units and harassment squads are very active."

"Both sides suffer casualties every day. Everyone is probing for weaknesses and testing one another."

Anko finished her explanation with a serious expression.

"So if you're assigned to the front line, never let your guard down."

Guy, Ebisu, and Genma immediately focused.

All three nodded heavily.

Remaining vigilant on the battlefield had already become instinctive.

They were no longer inexperienced rookies.

After experiencing Mount Kikyo and the Land of Waves campaigns, they could already be considered veteran battlefield shinobi.

Naturally, none of them would underestimate the dangers ahead.

Anko continued her explanation in great detail.

The three listened attentively.

The crude map drawn with water was revised, erased, and redrawn countless times.

She clearly explained the current confrontation along the Land of Rice Fields border, the important troop deployments of both sides, and the possible harassment routes they might encounter.

Time gradually passed.

"That's the general situation."

Anko finally wiped away the last traces of water with her sleeve and let out a long breath.

"In short, the battlefield is currently trapped in a dangerous stalemate."

"You should all be mentally prepared."

Guy, Ebisu, and Genma exchanged glances.

Each saw the seriousness reflected in the others' eyes.

Although it had only been a brief introduction, the pressure and cruelty of the battlefield had already been conveyed through Anko's explanation.

"Come on. I'll take you to your lodging."

Anko stood up and stretched her somewhat stiff shoulders.

"The camp conditions are limited, so the three of you will have to share one tent. Is that okay?"

"No problem."

The three answered together.

Anko led them through the camp.

Eventually, they arrived at a relatively quiet area and pointed toward a medium-sized tent.

"This is yours."

"There's bedding inside. You can arrange everything yourselves. I'll come get you tomorrow morning."

"Thanks, Anko."

Ebisu adjusted his sunglasses.

"Don't mention it."

Anko waved casually.

"Get some rest early."

After watching Anko leave, the three lifted the tent flap and entered.

The interior was exactly as she had described.

Simple but clean.

Three sets of bedding were neatly stacked in one corner.

After making a few quick arrangements, each of them settled down to rest.

Having traveled continuously for half a month, all three were exhausted.

They exchanged only a few words before quickly falling asleep.

The night passed quietly.

The next morning.

Just as dawn began to break across the horizon, Anko's energetic voice rang out from outside.

"Are you guys awake? The transfer orders are here!"

The three immediately opened their eyes.

After quickly getting dressed and preparing themselves, they finished just as Anko lifted the tent flap and entered.

A scroll rested in her hand.

"Here. Lord Orochimaru personally issued it."

She handed the scroll to Guy.

"The three of you are to proceed immediately to Frontline Outpost Number Eight and report to the outpost commander, Uchiha Feiquan."

"Uchiha Feiquan?"

The three exchanged surprised looks.

None of them had heard this name before.

However, they quickly felt relieved.

To become the commander of a frontline outpost while also being a member of the Uchiha Clan, his strength certainly wouldn't be weak.

As for Outpost Number Eight, they already understood what it was.

Konoha had established more than twenty such outposts along the Iwagakure front.

Each station housed roughly thirty shinobi.

They formed a network of mutual support and early warning to prevent infiltration and surprise attacks from Iwagakure forces.

Guy accepted the scroll and opened it.

Ebisu and Genma immediately leaned over to read.

Their names, mission details, and reporting location were clearly recorded inside.

At the bottom was Orochimaru's signature.

"Anko, do you know this commander?"

Guy asked curiously.

"Not very well."

Anko scratched her head.

"He rarely returns to the rear headquarters."

Then she lowered her voice slightly.

"But I've heard he's extremely powerful."

"He possesses the Three Tomoe Sharingan and is a genuine elite jonin of the Uchiha Clan."

Three Tomoe Sharingan.

Guy felt his heart tighten slightly.

He understood all too well that awakening the fully matured Sharingan required far more than talent.

It usually demanded immense emotional trauma.

"I just don't know whether he awakened it before the war..."

"Or during the war."

Guy silently frowned.

That distinction was important.

If the Three Tomoe Sharingan had been awakened before the Third Shinobi World War, it meant he had already experienced some major emotional shock earlier in life.

But if it had awakened during the war, there was a high probability that he had lost someone extremely important amid the fighting.

The first possibility was manageable.

The second possibility was far more troublesome.

Because such a person would inevitably carry deeply personal emotions toward the battlefield.

And that was rarely a good thing.

After hesitating briefly, Guy cautiously asked:

"Did someone close to him die during the war?"

Anko blinked.

She looked at Guy strangely, clearly not understanding why he had suddenly asked such a question.

Tilting her head, she thought for a moment before shaking it.

"I have no idea."

"How would an outsider like me know the Uchiha Clan's family matters?"

"Uh..."

Guy was momentarily speechless.

But thinking about it, that was perfectly reasonable.

It wasn't strange for Anko not to know details about the Uchiha Clan's internal relationships.

Suddenly, however, Anko seemed to remember something.

Clapping her hands, she exclaimed:

"Oh, right!"

"I don't know whether Commander Feiquan has lost any relatives."

"But I did hear that he has a son fighting on the battlefield too."

Anko tilted her head and thought carefully for a moment.

"His son's name seems to be..."

"Uchiha..."

"Shisui?"
