One Piece: SSS-Rank Haki at Age Seventeen

Chapter 226: The Captain and Navigator’s Unspoken Feelings!

"Mmm…"

A soft, lingering moan drifted through the moonlit corner of the room, delicate as a nightingale's first cry.

Exhaustion, satisfaction, and the trembling aftertaste of forbidden intimacy all mingled within that sound.

Moonlight slanted through the porthole window, carving pale geometric patterns across the tangled bedsheets.

Sweat rolled down Nami's smooth back, each droplet reflecting the silvery glow like scattered crystals.

Her body rose and fell gently with every breath, the graceful lines of her shoulder blades flickering in and out of the shadows.

It had truly been a fierce "battle."

At the moment, Nami lay limply atop Luffy's chest.

The elasticity and warmth of his rubber body formed the most comfortable harbor imaginable.

She could hear the steady, powerful rhythm of his heartbeat beneath her ear.

Her orange hair had completely fallen loose, damp strands clinging to her flushed neck and shoulders.

A few locks stuck to her slightly parted lips, trembling faintly with each soft breath she took.

Every exhale carried traces of citrus perfume, sea breeze, and the scent of a brand-new intimacy shared between them.

"You idiot…"

Nami lifted her face slightly, the moonlight illuminating the lingering tears at the corners of her eyes.

Whether they came from pain or overflowing emotions, even she wasn't sure anymore.

She glared at Luffy, but the annoyance in her eyes resembled flames drenched by rain—unable to burn, leaving only warmth and mist behind.

"It was my first time… and you still bullied me like that!!"

Her fist landed softly against his chest.

It felt less like punching and more like caressing.

Luffy looked down at her.

Moonlight cast shadows beneath his lashes, and the carefree grin he usually wore had softened into something deeper.

A satisfied gentleness.

Like a beast lazily narrowing its eyes beneath the sun after a full meal.

"Heh."

He suddenly chuckled, hooking a finger around a damp strand of her hair.

"I thought you'd be tougher than this."

His fingers slid along her hair toward her ear.

"Turns out you were just a clueless little girl."

Nami's cheeks instantly turned red again.

She opened her mouth to argue, only for Luffy's arm to tighten around her waist.

"So what if I am?"

She lifted her chin stubbornly.

"From beginning to end, I've only ever liked you!"

Her eyes sparkled beneath the moonlight like polished gemstones.

"Isn't that… completely normal?!"

She said it with absolute confidence, as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Then she pouted and added:

"Unlike a certain 'world's most beautiful woman' who seems awfully experienced."

Jealousy laced her words, though there was also the smug pride of a victor hidden underneath.

"Oh, give me a break."

Luffy laughed and ruffled her hair.

His hand slid down her back, tracing the elegant curve of her spine.

"Go to sleep already. It's late."

As he spoke, he started to get up.

His arm slipped out from beneath her, bringing a sudden chill with it—and taking away the warmth she'd been relying on.

Nami froze.

In that instant, a strange panic surged through her like icy seawater.

She stared at Luffy's back as he sat up.

Watched him reach for the T-shirt on the floor.

Watched him act as though nothing unusual had happened—

'Luffy, you jerk!'

She screamed internally.

After everything…

After giving him the most precious thing she'd protected for twenty years.

After enduring the embarrassment, the soreness, and even matching his reckless, passionate pace.

And now what?

Was he seriously just going to leave after it was over?

Not even a little time together afterward?

Not even one proper romantic word?

An empty feeling spread from deep inside her chest, as though a hole had opened in the bottom of a ship while seawater silently poured in.

She suddenly felt completely taken advantage of.

That thought made her eyes sting again.

"Wait!"

Her voice moved faster than her thoughts as she grabbed his wrist.

"Don't… don't go!"

She could hear the tremble in her own voice.

Luffy turned around.

Moonlight shone from behind him, hiding his face in shadow.

But Nami could still see the helpless, amused smile tugging at his lips.

"Alright, alright."

He sighed and lay back down.

The next second, strong warm arms wrapped tightly around her.

Not the lazy closeness from before, but a firm embrace—as though he wanted to pull her into himself completely.

The warmth and elasticity unique to his rubber body instantly filled every crack in her anxiety.

"I need to leave a little earlier,"

Luffy said quietly above her head, his tone unusually serious.

"Otherwise, if everyone sees me coming out of your room in the morning…"

He didn't finish the sentence, but Nami understood.

It would cause chaos.

Not because of embarrassment, but because once the relationship between the captain and navigator became public, the atmosphere aboard the Sunny would inevitably change.

Sanji would probably collapse.

Usopp would make a huge scene.

Chopper would ask innocent but painfully awkward questions…

"Mm."

Nami answered softly.

This time she didn't protest.

Instead, she simply hugged him tighter.

Her bare skin pressed directly against his without the slightest barrier between them.

Luffy gently patted her back, almost like soothing a child to sleep.

Outside the window, the moonlight remained cool and gentle.

The incense had long since burned out, leaving only the rhythm of their breathing intertwined in the quiet room.

Peaceful.

Like a harbor after a storm.

Like rest after an intense battle.

Like… the opening chapter of something entirely new.

Nami closed her eyes and buried her face against his neck.

Her lashes were still damp, yet a small smile quietly formed on her lips.

Fine.

For now…

She'd forgive this rubber idiot.

At least this embrace was real.

At least when he said he needed to leave early, his arms had tightened around her even more.

At least…

As sleep finally claimed her, one hazy thought drifted through her mind:

At least I'm the second one!!

The moonlight slowly shifted across the floor, climbed the edge of the bed, and finally settled gently over the two sleeping figures locked in each other's arms.

The first pale streaks of dawn tore across the eastern horizon while the Thousand Sunny still slept in the deepest silence before morning.

Luffy's rubber body slipped through the narrow crack of Nami's door like liquid.

His bare feet landed lightly against the deck, so quiet they didn't even disturb the droplets of dew gathered on the wood.

He hunched low, ears alert, carefully listening to every sound aboard the ship.

The hum of the engine room.

The refrigerator buzzing in the kitchen.

Franky's occasional mechanical sleep-talking…

And Robin's calm, even breathing from her room.

Safe.

Like a spy completing a high-level infiltration mission, Luffy tiptoed through the hallway.

Only after confirming nobody had noticed him did he finally straighten his back and push open the door to the captain's quarters.

Creak.

The hinge let out the perfect amount of noise—just enough to wake any light sleeper nearby.

Luffy swaggered inside, stretching his rubber arms dramatically while letting out an exaggerated yawn.

"Ahhh… I slept great!"

His voice was just loud enough for Usopp in the neighboring room to mumble groggily:

"Shut up, Luffy…"

Perfect!

Luffy gave himself a thumbs-up internally.

Two hours later, sunlight covered the Sunny's lawn deck.

The long dining table overflowed with Sanji's masterpieces:

Golden crispy fish cutlets, steaming seafood fried rice, mountains of grilled sausages, and baskets of freshly baked croissants.

The aroma of food mingled with rich coffee in the morning breeze.

"Morning, everyone!!"

Luffy energetically jumped into his seat at the head of the table, straw hat tilted crookedly, smiling as brightly as the sun overhead.

Zoro sat down with a yawn, still half asleep as he reached for a bottle—only for Sanji to smack his hand away with a frying pan.

"No alcohol at breakfast!"

Robin elegantly sipped tea while reading the morning newspaper delivered by the News Coo.

Franky showed Chopper a new feature on his mechanical arm.

Brook hummed while tuning his violin.

Uta brushed her hair while discussing East Blue climate patterns with Yamato.

Everything looked completely normal.

Until—

"Huh?"

Sanji emerged from the kitchen carrying the last pot of tangerine porridge and noticed one empty seat.

"Where's Nami-san?"

He frowned slightly, shifting the cigarette at the corner of his lips.

As the crew's self-proclaimed gentleman, concern for the ladies came naturally to him.

Luffy was currently demolishing a plate of fried rice, cheeks stuffed full.

At the question, he looked up with grains of rice stuck to his mouth.

"Hm? Nami?"

He swallowed casually.

"She's probably still sleeping! She was pretty tired last night."

The moment those words left his mouth—

The air went strangely silent.

Sanji froze.

His brain immediately interpreted the statement in the most innocent way possible.

Late at night.

The navigator's chart room still brightly lit.

Nami bent over an enormous sea chart, orange hair loosely tied back as she carefully measured routes and recorded data.

Occasionally glancing at the stars outside the window to verify the ship's coordinates.

Moonlight shining across her focused profile while sweat dampened her temples…

"NANI?!"

Sanji's eyes widened dramatically, hearts practically exploding from them.

"Nami-san was working that hard?!"

"Drawing East Blue charts all night long… all for the sake of protecting her hometown…"

He clutched his chest, completely surrounded by an imaginary pink aura.

"A serious Nami-san is too adorable!!"

"That dedication! That love for her homeland! That—"

"Oi, Sanji,"

Usopp poked him.

"Your fantasy bubbles are about to float past the mast."

But Sanji wasn't listening anymore.

As though drawn by some invisible force, he floated dreamily toward Nami's room.

The pot of tangerine porridge in his hand still steamed warmly, leaving a delicious trail behind him.

Knock. Knock knock.

A gentle rhythmic knocking echoed through the hallway.

Standing before Nami's door, Sanji cleared his throat and spoke in the softest, smoothest voice he could manage.

"Nami-san… good morning."

He bowed slightly like a knight serving a princess.

"Breakfast is ready!"

"I specially made your favorite tangerine porridge today. I used Cocoyasi Village golden oranges, added a little honey and South Blue fragrant rice…"

He pressed his ear lightly against the door, trying to hear movement inside.

"A warm bowl of porridge is perfect after staying up all night working."

"I also prepared citrus tea to help wake you up, and those Sky Island pancakes you said you wanted to try…"

Inside the room—

Nami had actually been awake for a while.

She'd woken up the moment Luffy slipped out earlier.

Now she was curled beneath the blankets, burying her burning face into the pillow.

Her body still ached from last night's intensity, especially—

She bit her lip in embarrassment.

Then she heard Sanji's voice.

And the phrase "working all night"…

"That rubber idiot!!!"

She screamed internally.

What did he mean by "she was pretty tired last night"?!

That wording! That tone!

Outside, Sanji continued speaking.

"Nami-san? If you're still sleepy, I'll leave the porridge outside in the warmer."

"Do you want me to bring today's newspapers and navigation materials over first? Or maybe—"

"Sanji."

Nami's voice finally came through the door, lazy and slightly hoarse from just waking up.

"I… I'm still a little sleepy. Just leave the porridge outside. Thanks."

There was a subtle tremble hidden in her voice.

"Understood!"

Sanji instantly straightened.

"Please get some proper rest! Call me if you need anything!"

He carefully placed the porridge onto the insulated rack beside the door and even left behind a small bouquet of dew-covered wildflowers freshly picked from the lawn deck.

Then, humming cheerfully, he floated back toward the dining area.

Meanwhile, Luffy had already finished his fifth plate of fried rice and was stretching his arm across the table toward the sausages.

Robin turned another page of her newspaper, a knowing smile curving at the corners of her lips.

Outside, the sunlight grew even brighter.

The Thousand Sunny continued sailing eastward, its course straight as an arrow.

And inside one particular room, the navigator buried her burning face even deeper into the pillow while mentally beating up a certain rubber captain a hundred times over…

Yet despite herself—

She still quietly inhaled the lingering scent he'd left behind on the pillow.
