One Piece: SSS-Rank Haki at Age Seventeen

Chapter 225: Night Voyage · Hearts Adrift

Midnight aboard the Thousand Sunny carried a silence completely different from the chaos of the earlier banquet.

The modified ship almost seemed alive.

A faint, rhythmic hum echoed from the engine room like the breathing of some sleeping beast.

Every blade of grass on the lawn deck glowed faintly beneath the moonlight like scattered stardust.

The automatic defense system had already activated.

An invisible energy field enveloped the entire ship, silently marking any unidentified lifeform that approached.

The telescope atop the lookout tower slowly rotated on its own, occasionally catching the phosphorescence of distant waves or the silhouettes of flying fish.

The Thousand Sunny no longer needed anyone standing watch at night.

…

When Luffy slipped out of the captain's quarters, the first thing he saw was the figure leaning against the railing.

Nami stood with her back to him, facing the sea.

The night breeze was cooler than during the day, causing her orange hair to sway like drifting seaweed.

Strands occasionally brushed against the railing with a faint rustling sound.

She wasn't wearing her usual short skirt.

Instead, she had changed into a simple white T-shirt.

The soft cotton fabric shimmered faintly beneath the moonlight, outlining the graceful curves of her body from shoulders to waist like the horizon over a calm sea.

She wore light-colored shorts that stopped midway down her thighs.

"Nami, why aren't you asleep yet?"

Luffy's voice sounded especially clear in the quiet night.

He walked beside her and casually rested his rubber arm atop the railing, only a few centimeters from her shoulder.

Nami didn't answer immediately.

She slowly turned her head.

Moonlight illuminated her face completely.

Her bright eyes resembled twin pools of clear water, reflecting the stars above and the phosphorescent sea below.

A faint shadow traced the bridge of her delicate nose.

Her soft pink lips remained lightly pressed together, as though deep in thought.

Her pale skin looked almost translucent beneath the moonlight.

A few strands of hair stuck to the corner of her lips as the wind blew past.

She lifted a hand to brush them away, her fingertips gleaming white beneath the moon.

Luffy's gaze unconsciously drifted lower.

Her long, slender legs extended beneath the shorts.

Moonlight flowed across her smooth skin, tracing the toned lines of her calves and the gentle curves of her knees.

Her bare feet rested against the cool deck, her toes curling slightly from the chill night air.

"What's wrong?" Luffy tilted his head with his usual carefree grin. "Still worried about Golden Lion Shiki?"

He naturally wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

Through the thin fabric of her shirt, he could feel the warmth of her body and the subtle outline of her shoulder blade.

"Don't worry,"

Luffy leaned close to her ear and lowered his voice.

"He's not my opponent."

The top of Nami's head rested just beneath his chin.

The scent of oranges and sunlight drifted into his nose.

Her back pressed lightly against his chest.

The fabric between them was thin enough that they could feel each other's warmth.

"I wasn't worried…"

Her muffled voice came quietly from against his chest.

Her right hand lifted and rested over the hand wrapped around her shoulder.

Then—

Nami turned within his embrace.

The movement shifted them into a face-to-face hug.

Her slender white arms wrapped around Luffy's neck.

Their bodies pressed together more tightly.

Luffy could feel the softness beneath her shirt.

He could smell the faint citrus scent on her breath.

And in the moonlight, her upturned face looked breathtakingly beautiful.

"Hehe…"

Nami smiled softly, her eyes curving into crescents.

But within those crescent-shaped eyes shimmered something warm, emotional… and faintly mischievous.

"Do you remember what you promised me?"

Her voice was soft, almost like a siren's whisper brushing against his heart.

Luffy's brain instantly began spinning.

But before he could answer—

Nami suddenly lifted her head.

The eyes that usually sparkled with cleverness now rippled like spring water beneath moonlight.

A hazy warmth clouded her lashes, carrying a stunning charm like the tide before a Caribbean storm.

The next second—

Her soft lips pressed against his without warning.

"Mmph!"

Warmth exploded instantly between them.

Luffy's mind blanked out completely.

Without thinking, he tightened his arms around her waist and pulled her firmly into his embrace.

All the impulsive passion unique to youth burst free in that moment.

He instinctively deepened the kiss, no longer content merely responding.

One second.

Two seconds.

Three seconds.

Their breaths intertwined in the quiet night.

Nami felt a tingling current spread through her entire body.

Strength gradually drained from her limbs as though carried away by the tide itself.

Her trembling eyelashes slowly lowered.

Then she closed her eyes completely and surrendered herself to the sudden rush of emotion.

After a long while—

their lips finally parted.

A faint silver thread briefly lingered between them before snapping apart.

Nami collapsed weakly against Luffy's chest.

Her cheeks burned crimson beneath the moonlight.

Her dazed eyes looked hazy, like a shoreline wrapped in mist.

…

"I was here first…"

Nami's voice trembled with emotion, thick with grievance.

Her fists clenched tightly, fingertips turning pale.

"Myself… I'm supposed to be your real girlfriend…"

Tears finally spilled free from her reddened eyes.

"And yet… you actually did that kind of thing with another woman…"

Her voice cracked.

"You've never even done that with me!!"

Tears rolled down her cheeks like broken pearls.

She turned her face away as her shoulders trembled slightly.

Luffy's mouth twitched helplessly.

Come on…

Before all this, he'd basically been an innocent rookie!

Who could've expected Boa Hancock to be that aggressive?!

Everything had escalated so quickly he hadn't even had time to process it.

That was Boa Hancock!

The world's most beautiful woman!

How was he supposed to resist something like that?!

Of course, there was absolutely no way he dared say any of that out loud.

He knew perfectly well that if he did, Nami would immediately beat him into the deck.

So instead, he quickly forced out an apologetic grin.

"Okay, okay, don't be mad! In my heart, you're the best!!"

"I don't wanna hear excuses!"

Before he could continue—

Nami kissed him again.

This time, her lips carried fiery intensity.

"Then take responsibility…"

she whispered breathlessly between kisses.

Luffy blinked in surprise.

"You sure?"

Nami's face instantly turned scarlet all the way down to her neck and collarbone.

"…M-My room…"

She couldn't even meet his eyes after saying it.

"Okay."

Luffy answered without hesitation.

He slipped one arm beneath her knees and the other around her back, lifting her easily into a princess carry.

Nami let out a soft gasp and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.

She was lighter than he expected.

Warm.

Delicate.

The hem of her white shirt shifted slightly, revealing a glimpse of smooth pale skin at her waist.

Her long legs rested naturally against his arms as moonlight flowed across them.

Luffy carried her down the hallway toward her room.

Their footsteps echoed softly through the silent ship alongside the rapid beating of their hearts.

Nami buried her face against his neck, her warm breath brushing his skin.

But after several steps, she slowly looked up.

Her moist eyes shimmered beneath the dim corridor lights like jewels submerged underwater.

She looked at Luffy.

At the straw-hatted idiot carrying her.

At the reckless dreamer who had journeyed from a tiny East Blue village all the way here.

The one who had stolen her dreams…

her home…

and little by little—

her heart.

The fire in her gaze gradually softened into overwhelming tenderness.

The look a navigator gave her most precious map.

The look a jeweler gave a priceless treasure.

The look—

of a woman gazing at the man she loved.

Luffy lowered his head and met her eyes.

For once, there was no goofy grin on his face.

Only sincerity.

Focus.

He understood everything hidden inside her gaze.

Her fear.

Her courage.

Her longing.

And the uniquely sharp yet gentle tenderness that belonged only to Nami.

At the end of the hallway, the door to her room stood slightly ajar.

Moonlight spilled through the crack onto the floor.

Luffy nudged the door open with his foot.

Inside, nautical charts swayed faintly against the walls.

The soft scent of oranges lingered in the air.

The bed wasn't large.

Its sheets were sky blue.

Luffy stepped inside and gently closed the door behind him.

Click.

The quiet sound echoed clearly through the silence.

Outside—

the Thousand Sunny continued sailing across the dark sea.

And at the bow, the lion figurehead's eyes glowed softly beneath the night sky.
