Chapter 402: The Trios Tried To Kill The Walkers
The Trios had plans to make, tracing and finding the Night Walkers underneath Oakland.
Since Princess had a passage to the underground tunnel built right inside her clubhouse, she and her friends passed through it without taking the long way around town.
They hadn’t gone down there since they stopped working for Leo...
They didn’t go to the main area where the races actually took place every weekdays. Instead, they followed a narrow path branching off to the left side of the dirt foundation.
The Chief had given them a specific location, and they were using a phone map to find it step by step.
The narrow path was dark and ancient, with rough stone walls, completely unlike the racing arena, which looked modern and fully lit with neon cables.
But they all had night vision, so it was easy for them to see in the dark without using flashlights or making noise.
While walking toward the location, Princess decided to ask Kiara a question that had been bothering her for a while now.
"What are you trying to do with my girlfriend, Kiara?" Princess asked, her voice echoing slightly off the damp stone ceiling.
Kiara turned sideways, looking at Princess, who was waiting for an answer with her hands stuffed in her pockets.
She turned away and continued walking down the narrow path.
"Kiara, I asked you a question."
"And I heard you," Kiara replied, pretending to find the narrow, dusty path more interesting than the question itself.
Hearing Princess growl made her stop in her tracks immediately, her heels grinding into the loose dirt.
"Okay, fine. I’ll tell you. It’s not what I’m trying to do with your girlfriend. It’s what I want from her."
As she expected, Princess knew Kiara wanted something from the very beginning.
"What do you want from her?" Princess rephrased her question, taking a half step closer.
"You remember when Faye’s claws dug into my skin and nothing happened when I bled? It’s a sign."
"A sign of what?"
"Patience, girl. Don’t rush my words. I have a feeling that my blood doesn’t activate when I get attacked by the Moon Wolf," Kiara explained...
Princess shook her head in disbelief, pinching the bridge of her nose tightly.
"It’s just a coincidence, Kiara. Nothing special about it. Please stay away from my girlfriend. I don’t want you involving her in any of your family shit."
"Too late. I have already involved her. I’m going to use her to get rid of my curse."
"There’s only one way to break that curse, and you blew that off. So just suffer alone and don’t do anything reckless."
"You are many things, Princess, and one of them is being a bad friend. Faye does whatever it takes to save her friends, even if it means sacrificing her own life. You’ve seen her do it many times. And you’re just going to offer me on a platter and have them slaughter me like a lamb?" Kiara said, looking disappointed in her friend as she met her eyes.
"Again, you chose your downfall. And if you want to break the curse, Leo seems single. You can ask him to marry you before next year and have him perform the leaving ritual."
"Just because it worked for my sister doesn’t mean it will work for me. I’m not just the second child but also the last child of my parents. I don’t see them planning to have any more children. And Leo? Hell no. I would rather die than marry that self-centered jerk who doesn’t value anyone other than himself."
Kiara paused, taking a deep breath of the stale underground air.
"Also, if I had a younger sibling, I wouldn’t be so cruel as to make them a sacrificial lamb."
"Well, if you didn’t sleep with my best friend and make her do what she did, we would still have been together, planning our wedding.."
"Really? You’re saying that as someone who has been obsessed with Faye since the age of 5. I was never going to connect with someone whose heart was already encrypted with that Moon Wolf, so I found solitude in Beamer."
"You know she’s here, right?"
Princess had to remind Kiara about their third friend, who had been quiet throughout the entire conversation, acting like someone using stealth to blend into the shadows behind them.
"No need to hide that fact. I know," Beam said, passing the two of them and walking straight ahead into the darkness.
"What do you know?" Kiara asked, stepping forward to try to figure out exactly what Beam knew.
"I know that we used to be a thing. We slept together, didn’t we? And I believe it happened more than once."
"You remember?" Kiara muttered, her voice dropping lower than before.
"No, I don’t remember. You two talk a lot, and all I have to do is listen and gather the information. My brother also mentioned that I used to call your name during the full moon to try to anchor myself when shifting."
Beam continued, her posture rigid as she kept moving down the tunnel path.
"And Faye also leaves tiny quirks during basketball practice, which is obvious. I’ve also seen a video of us making out. My girlfriend also mentioned that we used to hang out in front of the convenience store at midnight."
The guilty friend went silent, struggling to find something to say to make it better.
"I don’t know why I don’t remember, but I’m just hoping it wasn’t something dare. That would be a fucking disgrace, knowing I was with someone like you. You are disgusting," Beam said directly to Kiara’s face, turning her head slightly to land the words.
Kiara chuckled, though the sound lacked any real humor.
"I’m disgusting?"
"Yes, you are."
Kiara tried to form a smile, though her mouth twitched at the corners.
"Looks like I finally realized what she told you. Because you never saw me as one.... well, a disgusting person could never be your anchor. I really pity you when you do remember and realize all the things you’ve been calling me."
Kiara stopped talking and walked forward, her heels clicking against the hard dirt floor.
"You better not remember. But I plan on making you suffer for ruining our friendship for that girl."
Princess caught up with her, stepping right alongside her shoulder in the narrow passage.
"Also, you’re the disgusting one. Despite knowing that she was with me, you still had to fuck her. I’m never going to forget that pool scene, Beamer Frost.." Princess said, leaving Beam behind as she went to catch up with Kiara at the front of the line.
