Chapter 400 - 308: Thunder Eagle
Yuelai Inn was located in the southern part of Celestial Killer City, not too far from the city gates. The entire inn was immense, with hundreds of rooms arranged in an orderly fashion, yet spaced generously apart, creating a sense of vastness.
The inn was divided into four floors, ranked as Celestial, Earth, Mystic, and Yellow. The higher the floor, the more prominent the guest’s status.
Furthermore, the inn’s layout was quite interesting. Instead of a typical square shape, the sections fit together to form a massive concentric circle. The hollow center at the bottom served as the main hall, which was divided into areas for dining and entertainment.
The disciples of the Wanxiang Sect had also chosen to stay at Yuelai Inn.
"The Celestial Slaughter Secret Realm will open in one week. I will inform you when the time comes. Until then, you can either cultivate peacefully in the inn or go explore the city. But no matter what, your safety comes first."
"Oh, and I’ll be in Celestial Room 18 on the fourth floor. If anything urgent comes up, you can find me there."
After giving a few more instructions, Lu Ruikai had the Shopkeeper help arrange rooms for everyone, then turned and left.
This time, the Wanxiang Sect had sent a total of forty-three people, including Yu Changsheng. All were the top prodigies of their generation within the sect. Yu Changsheng had noticed earlier that the Spirit Dragon Sect had brought a similar number of people.
The Wanxiang Sect was, after all, one of the Three Gates and Six Sects of the Martial Continent. Although their disciples weren’t staying in the highest Celestial Level rooms, they were in the next-best Earth Level rooms.
The rooms of different levels were naturally worlds apart. The differences were reflected not only in their size, defensive measures, and the richness of Spiritual Qi, but also in the varying levels of service.
’This inn is quite impressive. It didn’t look that big from the outside, but it’s like a different world in here. It seems the owner who could open an establishment like this is no simple character.’
Yu Changsheng remarked quietly as he scanned the inn’s layout. He could feel that the entire establishment was enveloped in a massive array. If its power were to be fully unleashed, it could likely match a Golden Core Cultivator, or perhaps something even greater.
’Staying here for a night must be expensive.’
Yu Changsheng chuckled and muttered to himself. But after a moment’s thought, he wasn’t concerned. The sect would naturally reimburse all these expenses, so there was no need for him to worry personally.
Just as Yu Changsheng was taking in his surroundings, a sudden commotion erupted at the inn’s entrance. Curious, he focused his gaze and saw the figure of Mu Yongxian, followed by a group of Spirit Dragon Sect disciples.
The moment Yu Changsheng saw them, Mu Yongxian saw him as well. Mu Yongxian’s gaze sharpened, and after a nearly imperceptible pause, he turned away expressionlessly to speak with the Shopkeeper.
Yu Changsheng merely gave them a quiet glance before paying them no more mind, shaking his head to clear his thoughts.
’Yuelai Inn is huge, so it’s perfectly normal for the Spirit Dragon Sect to be staying here too. In fact, if things go as expected, many disciples from the Six Sects will likely choose this place as their temporary residence in the coming days.’
Interestingly, whether by design or by coincidence, the rooms arranged for the Spirit Dragon Sect disciples ended up being directly opposite the Wanxiang Sect’s rooms—in the Earth Level section on the other side of the circle.
However, Yu Changsheng simply shook his head with a smile, not thinking much of it.
’Celestial Killer City... It’s a rare trip, so I might as well go for a stroll. Maybe I can find some of the things I need here.’
After a moment of thought, Yu Changsheng informed Zhang Tianwen, Li Minghan, and the others, then turned and left the inn. He began to wander aimlessly down the main street.
Celestial Killer City was a magnificent city spanning hundreds of miles, its population impossible to estimate. While there were mortals, they were confined to designated areas in the subsidiary city.
The area where Yu Changsheng and the others were was the main city, the true heart of Celestial Killer City. People thronged the streets, ninety-nine percent of them Cultivators. Shops lined every corner, creating a bustling, lively atmosphere.
Especially in recent days, it wasn’t just people from the Three Gates and Six Sects coming and going. Countless others from all over the Martial Continent who met the requirements, wanted to participate, or were simply here to watch had also flocked to the city. As a result, the once-spacious Celestial Killer City now felt like a sea of people.
The various shops, sensing an opportunity, were working even harder to attract customers. The endless cries of vendors filled the air, creating a rare and incredibly lively spectacle.
Yu Changsheng moved slowly with the crowd, in no particular hurry. His eyes scanned past the rows of shops with great interest, but his main focus was on items related to Spirit Beasts.
After two hours, Yu Changsheng had only explored less than a quarter of Celestial Killer City. Although he had paused a few times, he hadn’t bought anything.
"There’s plenty of good stuff, but nothing I particularly need," Yu Changsheng remarked, shaking his head. He looked up toward a bend in the road and froze for a moment.
There stood a colossal tower that soared into the clouds, built from stone of a profound ochre color. Carved into its sides were soaring beasts of every shape and form, each one startlingly lifelike. Compared to the surrounding shops, it was incredibly eye-catching. The tower was nine stories tall, and the light of an array flickered on every floor, growing brighter the higher it went. A powerful, oppressive aura washed over him from its direction.
Four words leaped into view: Ten Thousand Beasts Tower.
’There’s a Ten Thousand Beasts Tower here, too...?’
