Chapter 1401: Stupid Son
Jiang Wenhui realized Jiang Wenhui had misunderstood her and wanted to explain, "Jing Heng, I really didn’t know, that was arranged by my friend; since you knew, why didn’t you tell me earlier?"
She showed some urgency on her face, "If my actions caused harm to Mu Chen, I truly couldn’t absolve myself even with a million deaths."
Jiang Jingheng lost his patience, and said coldly, "Get out!"
"Jing Heng..." Jiang Wenhui wanted to say something more, but faced with Jiang Jingheng’s cold expression, she paused and said, "I’m sorry." She turned and left.
The door closed, and the room fell into silence.
Jiang Jingheng leaned back in the chair, closed his eyes, massaging his brow with a somber expression; he looked particularly troubled.
Lian Jun pushed the door open, ready to report work to Jiang Jingheng, but noticed his demeanor was off.
He lowered his voice, saying, "Young master, there’s a video conference with the UK side in five minutes; here are the materials."
He placed the documents on the table and stepped aside, continuing his report, "The person you asked me to find last time has been controlled; tell me when you want to see him."
Jiang Jingheng suddenly opened his eyes, his gaze sharp, recalling those layers of events.
"Keep the person contained for now," Jiang Jingheng said.
"Yes!"
Jiang Jingheng casually flipped through the documents at hand, then closed them, saying, "Cancel the meeting."
Lian Jun’s eyes flashed with surprise, asking, "This..."
"That’s enough, leave," Jiang Jingheng responded indifferently.
Lian Jun dared not say anything further and turned to leave the office.
Jiang Jingheng picked up his phone, looking at the responses online, his heart filled with irritation.
If he had been ruthless enough earlier on, this wouldn’t have happened.
But he also knew, this was inevitable.
Now, regret was too late.
So, what should he do?
Jiang Jingheng’s fingers lightly tapped on the table, the tapping sound particularly clear in the quiet office.
A hint of contemplation passed through his light brown eyes.
Returning to the office, Jiang Wenhui immediately received a call from Song Cheng’an, inviting her for dinner tonight.
"I have to work overtime tonight, let’s do it next time," Jiang Wenhui said helplessly.
She sat in her chair, flipping through the documents on the desk, multitasking.
"Your parents want to meet me?" Jiang Wenhui was a bit surprised.
She said uncertainly, "Your parents agree with us being together?"
"Not really, I’ve been married before, I thought your parents wouldn’t agree."
"Hmm, I understand, let me see when I have time?"
"No, I really have to work tonight," Jiang Wenhui insisted.
Eventually, Song Cheng’an said nothing more and hung up the call.
Jiang Wenhui looked at her phone, her lips couldn’t help but curve upwards.
She turned her head just in time to see a mirror on the desk, looking at the smiling woman in the mirror; although she wasn’t young anymore, she was beautiful enough, even carrying a certain charm due to time, no longer the naive girl from years ago.
She knew what was more important.
On the Song Family’s side, after Song Cheng’an hung up the phone, he told his mother, "Wenhui has to work overtime tonight, let’s reschedule."
Mrs. Song’s face instantly darkened, "What, is work more important than meeting us? Exactly, she’s now a vice president at Shengyuan Group, not someone we can rise up to."
Song Cheng’an was somewhat displeased, "Mom, Wenhui isn’t like that; she’s always dedicated to her career, can’t we just reschedule?"
Seeing her son defending someone else, Mrs. Song said angrily, "Haven’t you suffered enough losses on her? You want to fall for it again? How did I end up with such a foolish son like you!"
