Chapter 1398: You’re So Bad!
In the middle of the night, Mu Yan suddenly jolted awake, drenched in sweat, her face streaked with tears.
As soon as She woke up, Jiang Jingheng woke too. He turned on the wall lamp, sat up and asked, "What’s wrong, did you have a nightmare?"
Hearing His voice out of nowhere, Mu Yan jumped, whipped her head around, and stared at Him with sheer terror on her face.
Catching the rejection in her eyes, Jiang Jingheng’s brows knitted slightly. "What’s wrong, what’s this about?"
Mu Yan shook her head. She pressed a hand to her forehead, shut her eyes, and tried to calm herself down.
She told herself in her heart, that was just a dream, you can’t drag it into reality.
Jiang Jingheng wrapped his arms around Her, soothing Her: "Be good, don’t be scared. It’s just a dream, and dreams are always the opposite."
Mu Yan’s body went taut for a second, then gradually relaxed. She leaned against Him and muttered, "I think it’s the opposite too. You would never treat me like that."
Jiang Jingheng’s gaze flickered and he followed up, "I was bad to you in the dream?"
"Yeah." Mu Yan replied. "You were really fierce."
"Then I’ll apologize on behalf of that guy in your dream. But I’m not like him. I couldn’t bear to be harsh with you." Jiang Jingheng said in a low voice.
Mu Yan lifted Her head to look at Him, accusing, "He even said he wanted to lock me up. He made it so I had no friends, no family. He’s a bad guy, I hate him."
A glint swept through Jiang Jingheng’s light brown eyes as he answered, "Okay, we’ll hate him together."
Mu Yan was amused by how serious He looked. She scolded lightly, "Who hates themselves like that?"
"Whoever bullies you, I’ll hate." Jiang Jingheng said it like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Mu Yan pouted. "Then what if you bully me?"
"I won’t bully you." Jiang Jingheng promised immediately.
Mu Yan probed, "But what if, just in case?"
"There won’t be any ’just in case’." Jiang Jingheng said firmly, like hammering a nail.
He suddenly shot Mu Yan a glance. "You really don’t trust me that much?"
"No!" Mu Yan denied at once. She burrowed further into His arms and let out a few little whimpers.
Jiang Jingheng held Her, dropping the topic, and said, "It’s still early, go back to sleep."
"I can’t sleep. I want you to tell me a story."
"Okay." Jiang Jingheng agreed.
But when Jiang Jingheng finished the first story and turned his head to look, Mu Yan was already asleep.
He pulled the quilt up over Her and replayed the dream She’d just described in his mind, a thoughtful shadow flickering in his eyes.
Early the next morning, Mu Yan woke up feeling incredibly refreshed.
At this time, Jiang Jingheng hadn’t gone to the company yet, so the two of them happened to have breakfast together.
In the morning, Yu Ma had specially cooked porridge for Mu Yan.
Mu Yan took a sip, frowned, and said, "This tastes way too bland, it’s not good."
"Eating something light in the morning is good for your body." Jiang Jingheng said.
"But I don’t want to eat this." Mu Yan frowned.
"Then what do you want to eat?"
Mu Yan thought for a moment and said, "I want cornbread."
Jiang Jingheng was about to say it was too greasy, but seeing how longing She looked, he turned to Yu Ma and said, "Go buy some and bring it back."
"And I want soy milk." Mu Yan added.
Yu Ma smiled. "Okay, I’ll go buy it for you."
Mu Yan took another sip of porridge, already thinking about the cornbread that was about to arrive, her face full of anticipation.
Jiang Jingheng rarely saw Her care so much about food, like a little kid. His face also softened with a few hints of doting amusement.
After breakfast, Jiang Jingheng left for the company.
Mu Yan was free, so She went back to Her room to look over the script Song Cheng’an had picked out for Her.
She idly picked up Her phone and saw the message Ouyang had sent Her: the test report for that pill from yesterday was out.
