Danmachi: The Magic Grandmaster

Chapter 107: Creating Puppets

Genes were the blueprint for building the human body, providing essential data and structural plans.

They were segments of dna that carried hereditary effects.

Genes supported the basic structure and function of life, storing all the necessary information about the entire biological process, such as race, blood type, conception and growth.

For humans, genes were like the foundational outline and detailed notes required when writing a story.

Without an outline and a detailed plan, a work would become unstable and prone to structural problems, therefore, humans couldn't exist without genes.

While Raiden could exist without them, it also meant she couldn't achieve her perfect form.

Raiden was an elemental lifeform based on a body made out of soul matter.

In addition to the puppets created by Sion, there was another elemental lifeform in this world, namely the great spirits.

Unlike Raiden, whose physical functions were mostly blank, a spirit had its own complete, living operating system.

The limitation of her magic stone stemmed directly from this flaw, the complete lack of information regarding life factors.

Sion estimated that he needed to gain a sufficient understanding of this concept in order to perfect Raiden and bring her to level 7 or above.

"If only I had a spirit to dissect and analyze," Sion couldn't help but sigh.

He wondered if he could find the true body of a corrupted spirit in the deep floors of the dungeon.

If he could, he could probably improve Raiden even further.

Life information and the soul were the absolute keys to the transformation of his puppets.

A breakthrough in either of these two areas would be a monumental achievement for Raiden.

Solving the problem of life information might even help Sion figure out how to materialize his own soul.

In any case, his puppets had now hit a hard bottleneck but the puppets themselves weren't a major problem anymore.

The only drawback was that operating them required splitting his mind into multiple active threads, which was quite mentally taxing.

"With my current abilities, I can comfortably divide my focus into ten separate threads."

One thread was used to accompany Meteria, and the remaining eight threads could be used to control his puppets.

As his mind strength increased, this upper limit would only continue to rise.

Before addressing the complex information regarding life factors and the soul what he needed to do right now was accumulate more knowledge.

He estimated that a single puppet needed about eight hundred million magic stones to reach level 7, which was no small amount.

Moreover, imbuing the puppets with mind properties and controlling them in battle was also a highly effective form of mind training for Sion.

It allowed him to better understand the power and essence of his mind, thereby bringing him closer to the fundamental concepts of the world.

"Let's begin the creation of a new puppet."

Having considered his current limitations, Sion began to think.

What kind of puppet should he make next?

"Elements."

The body made out of soul matter was only the basic state.

If he wanted to specialize the combat power of his puppets, they had to represent entirely different elements.

Each of these elements belonged to a different domain, operating somewhat similarly to the logia fruits from his past life.

"For the second puppet, I'll create wind."

Sion thought for a moment, then began to mold her facial features.

With her short golden hair and bright eyes, she looked quite young.

Her soft, round cheeks made her appear more cute than traditionally beautiful.

She wasn't the most breathtakingly beautiful but she had a charming appearance that easily grew on a person.

She wore a white dress and a headdress shaped like two pristine white flowers.

She also held a beautiful aquila favonia sword in her hand.

"As expected of my own skills, the sculpting is truly excellent."

Looking at the cute sisterly figure taking shape before him, Sion couldn't help but sigh in satisfaction.

He didn't have enough high quality magic stones right now, so the new puppet was only at level 3 at most.

However, it had a unique internal system that was mainly designed to absorb mind and energy.

As long as she stayed in the dungeon for a few days and absorbed enough magic stones, she could naturally reach level 7.

"She's quite cute, a completely different type from Raiden."

Meteria, who was standing nearby, looked over and asked, "What is her name?"

"Lumine."

Sion responded warmly, "Her main element is wind."

"That's so nice."

"She's beautiful. Your spells are really amazing."

Meteria said enviously, "I wish I was strong as her."

"Compared to other adventurers, your personal progress is already rapid."

Sion smiled and said, "In two or three years at most, you'll be able to match a level 1 adventurer without even needing a falna."

"That kind of growth speed would crush countless people."

"That's true, I'm not the exact same fragile person I used to be."

Meteria suddenly realized her own growth.

She then put her hands on her hips and showed a highly smug expression.

The stark contrast between this proud gesture and her usual gentle demeanor was striking, making her look cute.

"I know."

Sion clapped his hands in amusement.

He then controlled Lumine to mimic Meteria, making the exact same smug pose with her hands proudly on her hips.

"Don't laugh at me."
