Guy Crimson did not shout, posture dramatically, or announce that he was becoming serious.
He simply stopped holding back.
The change was immediate.
The crimson aura surrounding him had previously resembled a burning star, violent and magnificent enough to make the sealed battlefield glow from within. Now that flame compressed. Its light dimmed, its heat drew inward, and everything that had made Guy's power look wild vanished beneath a density so oppressive that the ground beneath his boots collapsed into fine powder.
The second barrier Loki and Guy had created groaned around them.
Guy raised Tenma.
Space folded toward the blade. Gravity, magicules, spiritual force, and physical momentum were drawn together until they no longer behaved like separate things. Prideful King Lucifer arranged every part of the attack with merciless precision, closing the routes Loki had used throughout their duel.
A spatial escape would be severed before it opened.
A gravitational reversal would be crushed beneath greater authority.
A forged shield would be pierced at its weakest point.
Even Hades would struggle to protect Loki if Tenma struck both his body and spiritual foundation at once.
Guy had not merely prepared an attack.
He had removed every sensible answer to it.
"Let's see you improvise through this, Loki," Guy said quietly.
Then Tenma descended.
Loki watched the broadsword approach.
He did not summon Excalibur. He did not reach for Gáe Bolg, the Crushing Mountain, or Ragnir. Hephaestus remained silent, and the authority of Hades did not rise around his soul.
Instead, a strange violet-and-gold sparkle appeared behind his eyes.
Something within him stirred with delighted anticipation.
For most of the duel, Loki had used Farce carefully. Small distortions, impossible timing, and momentary contradictions had slipped between conventional techniques without overwhelming the battlefield. He had treated the authority like a dangerous performer waiting behind the curtain, permitted to interfere but never allowed to take control of the stage.
Guy's attack left no room for caution.
Loki grinned.
"Fine," he murmured.
The consciousness within the skill answered.

[Loki, Lord of Farce.]
The world hesitated.
Then ordinary logic gave up.
Tenma reached the space directly in front of Loki's face. The blade carried enough power to tear through every layer of defense he possessed and continue through the entire pocket dimension.
It should have cut him.
Instead—
BOING!
Tenma bent.
Not metaphorically. Not through an illusion or some invisible spatial redirection. The enormous crimson broadsword curved around Loki's head like a strip of soft rubber, stretching into a bright yellow arc before snapping back toward its wielder.
The flat of the blade struck Guy directly in the forehead.
THWACK!
Guy's head tilted back.
A large red bump rose from beneath his hair with impossible speed. Three tiny golden stars appeared above it and began circling lazily, accompanied by a faint chiming sound that had no source.
Guy froze.
The strongest Primordial stared forward in complete silence.
Loki stared back at him.
For one long second, neither moved.
Then Loki placed both hands in his coat pockets.
"Physics called in sick," he said. "I'm covering the shift."
Guy's eyes narrowed.
Prideful King Lucifer immediately analyzed what had happened. It traced Tenma's movement, Loki's position, the change in the blade's structure, the altered force of the impact, and the sudden appearance of the bump and stars.
The result made no sense.
The information contradicted itself. Tenma had remained spiritually and physically intact, yet it had behaved like rubber. Guy's strike had retained all of its force, yet none of that force had touched Loki. The returning blade had struck Guy far harder than its reversed motion should have allowed, while the injury upon his forehead was both harmless and completely real.
Lucifer attempted to organize the contradiction.
Farce changed the joke before the analysis finished.
Guy thrust out his free hand and released a point-blank wave of compressed force.
The blast struck Loki squarely in the chest.
It should have torn him from the ground and crushed every bone in his body.
Instead, the force flattened into enormous dark-violet letters.
BOOM!
The word became solid in the air between them.
Loki remained exactly where he stood as the three-dimensional letters flew backward and struck Guy across the chest like a battering ram. Guy slid several paces across the broken ground, boots tearing trenches through stone before he stopped himself.
The letters bounced once.
Then they toppled over with a heavy wooden clatter.
Guy looked down at them.
Loki leaned slightly to one side, peering around the enormous B.
"You all right over there?"
Guy swung Tenma horizontally.
The blade tore through the physical letters and continued toward Loki's waist. This time, Lucifer focused less on understanding the previous effect and more on preventing Loki from establishing another one.
Loki reached behind his back.
His arm disappeared up to the shoulder despite there being nothing behind him but empty space. After a brief struggle, accompanied by several unnecessary grunts, he pulled out an enormous zebra-striped wooden mallet nearly twice his own height.
Guy's sword continued toward him.
Loki ignored it and struck the ground.
The scarred battlefield shuddered.
A giant metal zipper appeared along the longest crack running through the valley floor. Its handle sprang upright, seized itself, and raced across the ground with frantic speed.
The shattered terrain pulled together behind it. Craters closed. Broken stone snapped back into place. Trenches sealed themselves as though the battlefield were made of cloth.
The zipper reached Guy.
Its slider caught the toe of his boot.
Guy's forward step stopped dead.
His body continued.
The Lord of Darkness stumbled.
Tenma passed above Loki's head as Guy caught himself at the last instant, one hand striking the restored ground hard enough to reopen several of the cracks the zipper had just closed.
Loki rested the striped mallet on one shoulder.
"Oh, that was almost embarrassing."
Guy slowly straightened.
The red bump remained on his forehead. The tiny stars continued circling above him.
"You're changing the battlefield itself," Guy said.
"Obviously."
"No." Guy's voice sharpened. "You aren't simply changing matter or space. You're changing what kind of event is allowed to happen."
Loki's smile widened.
Tenma was still Tenma. Guy's power had not been weakened, stolen, or cancelled. Farce had simply forced the attack to participate in a different kind of reality. A place where a lethal sword could bend because the scene demanded a joke, and overwhelming force could become a word because the sound effect was funnier than the explosion.
It was absurd.
Farce did not create victory from nothing. Loki still had to supply the magicules necessary to impose the new outcome. His timing had to match the attack, and the joke needed a clear enough structure for reality to accept it. Against someone as powerful as Guy, every alteration placed immense strain upon Loki's reserves and the Manas coordinating the skill.
Yet for those few moments, raw power was no longer the only language the battlefield understood.
Guy had closed every logical answer.
So Loki had chosen an illogical one.
"You're forcing reality to play along," Guy said.
"Now you're getting it."
"This is not illusion."
"No."
"It isn't ordinary spatial manipulation."
"Also no."
Guy glanced at the zipper still attached to his boot.
Loki tossed the mallet into the air. It spun twice, burst into golden confetti, and vanished before the pieces reached the ground.
"It's called slapstick, big brother. A respected classical art form."
Guy stared at him.
"You simply lack culture."
Beyond the inner containment layer, the observers could no longer watch the battle directly. The pitch-black shell blocked ordinary sight, spiritual perception, and most forms of magical observation. However, Dagruel's reinforcement network continued to record the pressure striking the barrier, while Velzard and Leon converted those distorted impressions into an unstable image suspended above the valley.
The projection was incomplete. Colors flickered, movements skipped, and some details appeared several seconds late.
It was still clear enough to show Tenma bending around Loki's head.
Milim's laughter exploded across the Barren Lands.
"GAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!"
She fell backward onto her floating boulder, clutching her stomach as tears streamed from her eyes.
"It bent! Guy's sword went boing!"
The unstable projection displayed the broadsword snapping back into Guy's forehead.
Milim kicked her legs wildly.
"He hit himself! Guy hit himself with his own sword! This is the greatest fight ever!"
Dagruel's expression tightened as the giant laughter shook his already damaged territory. "Stop moving. You are destabilizing the observation field."
Milim rolled onto her side, still laughing. "He has a bump!"
"I can see that."
"And little stars!"
"Yes, Milim."
"They're spinning!"
Dagruel closed all three eyes for a moment, as though asking the world for patience.
Luminous Valentine did not laugh.
Her mismatched eyes remained fixed on the distorted image of Loki standing before the bent Tenma. For once, irritation had been replaced by genuine unease.
"What am I looking at?" she whispered.
"A governing contradiction," Leon replied.
His hand remained on the pommel of his sword, though the fingers had tightened around it. He watched the projection display Guy's shockwave turning into solid letters and striking him in return.
"Loki is not overcoming Guy's attack with a stronger one," Leon continued. "He is changing what the attack means before it reaches him."
Luminous glanced toward him. "That should not be possible."
"Many things about Loki should not be possible."
"That is not an answer."
"It is the only one I have."
Testarossa stood nearer to the barrier than the others, her attention fixed on every flicker within the projection. The anxiety that had followed the soul-layer exchange had not completely left her, but a soft smile now touched her lips.
"There he is," she murmured.
Velzard looked toward her. "You sound relieved."
"I am."
Milim pointed wildly at the projection as the image of Guy stumbling replayed due to an error in the observation field.
"Do it again!"
Dagruel struck the side of the magical display, forcing it to stabilize. "It was not a replay spell."
"It should be."
Inside the sealed battlefield, Loki stood ten paces from Guy, breathing slightly harder than before.
Maintaining Lord of Farce at full output against Guy was far more exhausting than his grin suggested. Each absurd change required him to seize a lethal event at the moment it occurred, give it a different conclusion, and hold that conclusion in place against Lucifer's attempts to restore ordinary causality.
The bump on Guy's forehead had cost more energy than some spells capable of destroying cities.
It was worth every drop.
Guy remained motionless for five full seconds.
He looked down at the zipper caught around his boot. With a small movement of Tenma, he cut the metal slider free. The zipper squealed, sprouted tiny legs, and fled across the battlefield before the blade could strike it again.
Guy watched it disappear behind a mound of stone.
Then he looked at Tenma.
The broadsword had returned to normal. Its crimson edge remained perfectly sharp, and no trace of rubber or yellow coloring remained upon it.
Finally, Guy raised his gaze to Loki.
The bafflement on his face began to fade.
His mouth twitched.
A low sound rose from his chest.
Loki tilted his head. "Are you about to laugh, or did the sword hit you harder than I thought?"
Guy's shoulders shook once.
Then he laughed.
The sound began quietly before erupting across the pocket dimension with such force that the black barrier trembled around them. Guy threw his head back, one hand pressed against his face as the absurd red bump finally vanished beneath his aura.
"Ahahaha! Incredible!"
His laughter grew louder.
"Absolutely incredible!"
Crimson power surged around him again, but the pressure no longer carried only killing intent. It carried exhilaration. The joy of a being who had spent ages believing there were no truly unfamiliar battlefields left.
Guy wiped the corner of one eye with his thumb.
"A rule that turns my own authority into the setup for your joke," he said. "Lucifer understands the energy, the timing, and the change in outcome, yet the reason connecting them keeps disappearing."
Loki slipped his hands back into his pockets. "That's because explaining a joke kills it."
Guy's eyes burned brighter.
"For the first time since the earliest days of this world, I have no idea what you're going to do next."
His grin revealed sharp white teeth.
"I had almost forgotten how good that feels."
Tenma rose once more.
Dark crimson light gathered around the blade, denser and more controlled than before. Guy had not solved Farce, but confusion did not frighten him. It excited him.
Loki saw the change in his expression and understood immediately.
Most opponents faced with Farce became angry. They denied the joke, resisted the humiliation, and tried to force the battle back into rules they understood.
Guy was different.
He was delighted to be confused.
That made him far more dangerous than someone who merely possessed the strength to resist.
Guy took one slow step forward.
The ground cracked beneath him.
"Let's see how long you can keep this up."
