Daughters were important assets in powerful families, and the most reliable way to connect with other major houses was through marriage. It was quite advantageous for the Sterling Family to have more young ladies for such alliances! He just never imagined Seraphina Sterling would be so disappointing, so utterly shameless! Faye Sterling was still not satisfied. Tonight, she had suffered such a huge loss and been utterly humiliated! How could she possibly stay quiet and let Seraphina Sterling get away with it so easily!

Faye Sterling felt so incredibly wronged that she started to cry. "You have to teach Seraphina Sterling a good lesson! Something like this absolutely cannot be allowed to happen again! Otherwise, I really won’t be able to show my face in public!"

"Maple, don’t worry. I won’t let Seraphina Sterling tarnish your reputation! I’m going to wait for her right here tonight. We’ll see just how long she can carry on with her little escapade before she deigns to return! I’m her second aunt, after all. If her own mother can’t teach her how to behave, then I will! I’ll make her learn the rules of a wealthy family and what is expected of a high-society lady!"

Jasmine Faulkner sat primly on the sofa, waiting to get even for her precious daughter.

"What’s wrong? What happened?" Walter Sterling came down the stairs with Kimberly Jennings, leaning on a cane.

"Dad, I have no objection to you bringing my sister-in-law and Seraphina Sterling back. However, you really need to teach Seraphina Sterling how to behave like a true heiress! Keep her from constantly disgracing the Sterling Family! A proper lady of a great house isn’t something someone from a common background knows how to raise!"

Walter Sterling’s expression didn’t change. "I just overheard a bit. Maple, is what you said true? Was Seraphina really being improper with two men at the same time? And not simply that two men are both fond of our Seraphina?"

Faye Sterling wasn’t close to her grandfather, and hearing him defend Seraphina only made her angrier. "What’s the difference? Either way, it’s one girl being intimate with two men at the same time! In what world does that look like a high-society debutante? She’s really disgracing the Sterling Family!"

"It’s completely different. I’m certain Seraphina would never be so indiscreet! Maple, you and Seraphina are around the same age, so how is it that we don’t see two boys pursuing you at the same time? It just proves you’re not as charming as she is!"

Walter Sterling had made his position clear: he would protect Seraphina Sterling, no matter what! But Faye Sterling, being on the losing end of the comparison, was not pleased in the slightest. She had already been compared to Seraphina by too many people tonight! And what was worse, she had lost every time! Losing to Seraphina in front of outsiders was infuriating enough. Now that she was home, she had lost to her again in the eyes of her own family. Faye Sterling was about to go mad with rage!
