Chapter 83: Evolution. Heartweaver Fae (2)
Silas chose ’YES’, only to realize that he’d been scammed clean. Well, it wouldn’t be scam in this context, but rather manipulation. Either way, he had been blindsided to choose Heartweaver Fae. The next system message told him so.
[Heartweaver Fae Selected!]
[Evolution will Commence in 15 Seconds.]
[Congratulations! You are the First of your Kind.]
[Additional Information Before Evolution Commences...]
[The Heartweaver Fae race is the closest race to Cupid. It is a new test race Cupid worked on and added to the system in hopes of finding a true descendant compatible with it. From the mechanics of the race logged into the system, the Heartweaver Fae has the most potential to succeed Cupid.]
[Time’s Up! More Information would be Shared After the Evolution.]
[Good Luck!]
[Evolution Commencing in 3... 2... 1...]
Before Silas could react to the influx of information, his vision darkened, his mind went blank, and his body lost all source of life, the life he had seconds ago. Strings of various colors wriggled out of his body, burning his clothes in the process, and leaving him naked. He floated a few meters above the floor, his pink hair glowing and turning energy-like. The strings, or rather, threads coiled, weaved, and entwined around him, almost protectively.
On his left chest, down to his ribs, and his elbow, the threads weaved their way into his skin, forming an intricate tattoo of threads that glowed with a deep violet-pink light, dangerous, yet alluring. On his back, hidden from view, a tattoo of a heart with wings, six in number around it appeared, faint and almost invisible unless one squinted hard. Unlike the thread-like tattoo on his chest and arm, this one radiated a strong sense of obsession, possession, and freedom. It felt... contradicting and wrong. Maybe.
The threads surrounding him released a soft light together, and that worked on his physical features. If there was one thing about Cupid that he would be known for apart from his arrows, then it was his beauty. That insane level of beauty that only lost to his mother, Aphrodite, the goddess of Love and Beauty for the Romans, or in Greek mythology, the titan of Love.
And that was what Silas was experiencing. All the scars, hidden yet available on his skin despite Anna’s healing were erased from his skin. His skin became so lusciously white that a professional model would have to spend billions on plastic surgery, or make up, or skin care, whatever it took to get that. His body became slender and athletic, sculptured like a Greek god’s body. Through the intense battles he experienced in the rift, his body had gained a lot of muscles, changing from his once average build, if that was correct, to a muscular one, which had now been further refined into something better and permanent.
And of course, with this came an increase in height. He visibly grew in height. The threads continued dancing around Silas’s body, each strand carrying a faint glow that painted the room in shifting shades of pink, violet, gold, and white. They were no longer simply wrapping around him, but rebuilding him. Every bone in his body vibrated, and the sounds weren’t painful as they normally should be. They were satisfying.
His shoulders broadened ever so slightly before becoming more refined, striking a balance between power and elegance. His waist narrowed, his posture straightened, and every imperfection disappeared as though reality itself had decided they had never existed. His legs lengthened and his arms followed, the muscles under his flawless skin condensing instead of expanding. He wasn’t becoming bulkier. He was becoming... efficient.
Power no longer came from size: it came from perfection, and he was becoming perfect. His fingers grew longer and more graceful, almost artistic. Even the calluses earned from countless battles vanished before being replaced by smoother skin that somehow retained the same strength.
His face changed next. His jaw sharpened slightly, while his cheekbones became more defined. His lips took on a faint natural pink that somehow looked unfair on a man. His eyelashes lengthened, as his brows became more symmetrical. His nose refined itself subtly. It wasn’t anything drastic, but the change was evident. It was the kind of face one couldn’t describe properly. Beautiful, handsome? Neither word alone felt sufficient.
His pink eyelashes fluttered gently as his hair continued glowing. Every strand became softer and brighter, almost resembling flowing energy instead of ordinary hair. The vibrant reddish-pink deepened into a richer hue that shimmered under the surrounding light. His ears elongated slightly into elegant points, not enough to appear monstrous, but just enough to distinguish him from humanity.
His height finally settled at six feet three inches, estimated. Tall, graceful, and perfectly proportioned. But the changes went deeper. His heart beat once and an invisible pulse spread throughout his body.
His blood shimmered. Each crimson drop transformed as faint golden particles mixed into it before disappearing completely. His veins glowed while his organs compressed, refined, and strengthened. His lungs expanded, and his eyes, though closed, underwent an even greater transformation.
Behind his eyelids, countless thread-like patterns intertwined within his irises before vanishing into his pupils. His nervous system lit up, every nerve becoming a living thread. Mana that had once flowed through pathways now flowed naturally through every cell.
His bones became lighter and harder. His flesh became denser. Then came his soul... The threads reached it. Unlike his body, his soul wasn’t repaired, but rather, it expanded, layer after layer unfolded like blooming petals.
The once ordinary human soul slowly took on the outline of something else, ancient, and incomparably beautiful. The six-winged heart engraved upon his back released a faint pulse. His Thread Core shattered, not from damage, but from evolution.
The countless fragments didn’t scatter: they fused, compressing into something infinitely smaller, yet infinitely stronger, a tiny crystalline heart woven entirely from threads. It beat once and the surrounding mana exploded. And the strange part was that, no sound was made throughout. The girls in the bedroom were still fast asleep, unaware of whatever was happening.
