Knotting His Rejected Breeder

Chapter 221: The Bitter Taste of Truth

RAMON’S POV

"Uhmmm, no. You can’t just tell me to come with you just like that. What did you see?" I asked, my voice low and edged with suspicion as I stopped pacing.

"I think it’s better you come see for yourself. It wouldn’t be as believable if we tell you, when we can just show you," Daniel said, his usual easy grin absent, replaced by a grim seriousness that made my wolf stir restlessly.

"Are you two sure this is not just another attempt to waste my time? I’m actually not going to take it lightly if it is," I warned, looking from one to the other. My jaw tightened, the muscles in my neck corded as I fought to keep my temper in check.

"It isn’t, I promise," Blane insisted, his voice steady but his eyes carrying the same gravity that made my stomach twist.

"Alright. Let’s go then."

The drive to Lorena’s parents grave was painful to my ears. The engine hummed steadily beneath us, but Daniel wouldn’t stop castigating, his words tumbling out in a steady stream of frustration and accusation. Blane simply agreed with him, nodding along as the landscape blurred past the windows.

I closed my eyes, waiting for the car to stop so I could get down, and move far away from those two.

Blane suddenly stopped the car a little distance from the site we were headed. The sudden halt jerked me forward slightly, my eyes snapping open as I gripped the door handle.

"What are you doing?" I asked, genuinely confused as I looked around the secluded path.

"We can’t drive there. It would alarm her maids, who would warn her before we can catch her," Blane explained, his voice low as he killed the engine. The sudden silence was almost deafening, broken only by the distant rustle of leaves in the wind.

"We also can’t go through the normal route. It would alarm not just Lorena’s maids, but also her lovers’ guards. We have to go through a different path," Daniel added, his tone urgent as he scanned the treeline.

I looked between the two, fascinated by how thought out their entire reveal plan was. Their coordination, the careful planning, it spoke of something they had been sitting on for a while, something they had debated bringing to me.

How long had this been in the motion? Were they serious or just pulling my legs? The doubt flickered in my mind, a small voice whispering that this could all be another layer of pack politics, another attempt to sway me against Lorena.

So many questions ran through my head, but I decided to let them stop in my mind. If at the end of the day, there was no substance to their claims, then they’d hear me speak directly from my mind. The threat hung unspoken between us, heavy and clear.

We all stepped out of the car, and both my beta and Omega jumped in front of me. Their movements were quick and purposeful, bodies tense as they scanned the surroundings. I followed from behind, looking around as we walked.

The path was narrow, overgrown with brush that brushed against our legs, the air cooler here under the thick canopy of trees, grounding me slightly even as my pulse quickened with anticipation.

It was crazy how Ferins did nothing on the land after he destroyed the pack. The ruins of old structures peeked through the undergrowth, silent reminders of the destruction that had once swept through here. He had destroyed it in search of one person. My father.

Once he found him, and eventually killed him, he went for Lorena’s parents for daring to shield him. The memory of those stories, the pain they carried, made my fists clench at my sides.

Lorena, and Ivy had to escape, with Ivy’s mother. They spent years in hiding, until Ivy’s mother died, leaving the two alone. The thought of my sister enduring that, of the strength it must have taken to survive, made my chest tighten with a mix of pride and regret for not being there sooner.

It was still so surprising that no one ever mentioned to Lorena, who Ivy and her mother truly were. She concluded they were both maids, since Ivy’s mother was a maid to Lorena’s parents long before my father arrived at the pack.

I didn’t like to think of that story, because it showed that my father also had his weakness. Their love, the one between my parents, was said to be strong. How could he have fallen for another woman to the point of having a child with her? The question lingered, a quiet doubt that had haunted me for years, making my steps heavier as we moved through the forest.

Anyway, that child had turned out to be Ivy, and for that I was actually grateful. The thought brought a small, reluctant smile to my lips despite the tension, a reminder of the one good thing that had come from the chaos of the past.

I looked up, and calculated that night would soon come. The light was fading, the sky deepening to shades of purple and indigo as shadows lengthened across the path.

"When are we—"

"Shhh, we’re almost there."

That was Daniel. One sharp look his way, and he apologized with his eyes for cutting me off that way, his shoulders hunching slightly under my glare.

Blane, who was way ahead, stopped first. When we got to him, we also stopped.

He turned to me, and then pointed a hand. It was all so dramatic, causing me to roll my eyes. The gesture felt theatrical, like something from an old tale, but I followed the direction of his finger anyway.

However, I followed the direction of his finger, and saw Lorena first. She stood near a cluster of stones, her movements casual as she adjusted her clothes, the fabric of her dress catching the fading light. My eyes narrowed, my wolf stirring with a low growl as I took in the scene.

She was dressing up. I looked closer, and saw the person next to her. My heart skipped a beat when I found out it was Ferins. The alpha of Silverpaw, tall and commanding, the same person that had killed her parents, and sent her into exile.

The same person that has killed my own parents. The realization hit like a physical blow, the old rage surging forward as my fists clenched tightly at my sides.

Right in my eyes as I watched on, he kissed her. The kiss was possessive, his hands gripping her waist as he pulled her closer, the intimacy of it making my blood boil. Next he went on his knees, and kissed her belly. The gesture was tender, almost reverent, a stark contrast to the monster I knew him to be.

Anger like a phoenix rose in me. I had taken a step forward when Blane held me back, his grip firm on my arm as he pulled me into the shadows.

He pleaded with me with his eyes, but I didn’t want to listen. My muscles tensed, ready to break free as the rage burned hotter, my wolf howling for blood.

I had Ferins right here. We could finally end this war between us. The thought was intoxicating, the possibility of ending it all in this moment making my claws itch to extend.

I could kill him now and be justified. I could kill both of them, and no one would bat an eye.

Lorena lied to me. Not only did she lie to me, she deceived me. The betrayal cut deep, a fresh wound that made my chest ache with a mix of fury and hurt.

She deceived me with the one thing she knew I was most happy for. A child to love more than the way my parents loved me and also to continue my legacy. The image of her belly, the way Ferins had kissed it, made my stomach twist with disgust and rage.

There was no forgiving that. I tried to go again, but Daniel joined Blane in holding me back, their combined strength the only thing keeping me from lunging forward.

I could easily have tossed them behind, but even in the heat of my anger, I saw some reasoning in them holding me back. The truth was clear now, and rushing in blindly would only give Ferins the advantage he craved.

I knew the truth now, and that truth had put me in the advantage. The knowledge settled over me like a cold blade, sharpening my focus as I forced myself to breathe.

Shrugging them off easily, I turned around, and walked away. My steps were heavy, each one carrying the weight of the betrayal I had just witnessed. The forest seemed darker now, the shadows longer as I moved back toward the car.

The ride back was silent. No one talked. I didn’t want to hear their voices either. The engine hummed steadily, the wheels crunching over the dirt path as we left the site behind. The anger simmered in my veins, a quiet fire that refused to die.

It would be worse if any of them was bold enough to say they told me so. The thought of their "I told you so" made my jaw clench tighter, my hands fisting in my lap as I stared out the window.

Only Ivy could, and thankfully, she wasn’t around. The thought of my sister brought a small flicker of something softer amid the rage, a reminder that not everything was broken.

We arrived in bloodmoon, and I didn’t wait for the car to be turned off before I pushed open the door, and stepped out. The cool evening air hit my face, but it did nothing to calm the storm inside me.

Annoyed, and irritated, I stormed into my quarters, and headed straight for my home office. The familiar halls felt narrower, the walls pressing in as I moved through them with purposeful strides.

When I arrived, I saw the guard I sent to follow Ivy already waiting for me. His posture was straight, his expression serious as he stood at attention near the door.

I wondered what news he had now. What could be worse than what I had just seen? The thought made my stomach twist, a fresh wave of dread mixing with the anger already burning in my chest.

Maybe Ivy was seeing one of Ferins sons. Even that wouldn’t be as dirty as what I had seen between Lorena, and Ferins. The comparison made my lip curl in disgust, the image of my sister with one of those monsters making my blood boil anew.

"Alpha Ramon." He bowed, his voice respectful as he waited for permission to speak.

I opened the door, and stepped in. He followed behind, and shut the door with a soft click.

"What do you have for me?" I asked, taking a seat behind my desk as I tried to steady my breathing. The wood felt cool under my palms, a small anchor as I leaned forward.

"I know where the lady went, alpha," he said, his voice steady despite the tension in the room.

"Well speak. I don’t have the patience to wait," I said hastily, my fingers drumming against the desk as I fought to keep my temper in check.

"It’s a house in the faraway woods. I did some research, and found out it belongs to Alpha Ferins."

My heart skipped a beat. I called it already. But not Ivy.
