Chapter 92: Heaven and Earth

"What about my sister?"

Nawaki was slightly stunned and asked.

"I'll be the temporary leading sensei for Kushina's squad this time," Tsunade replied.

This squad had been formed purely because Kushina wanted to take the Chunin Exam.

If it were anyone else, Hiruzen definitely would not have allowed her to mess around like this.

But who told her to be the next Nine-Tails jinchuriki?

Hiruzen placed great importance on the Nine-Tails jinchuriki's feelings toward the village.

Letting her participate in the Chunin Exam was undoubtedly a way to increase those feelings.

"Then my teammates are?"

Kushina looked curiously at the two people behind Tsunade.

One of them was not very tall, a little older, wore a green bodysuit, and for some reason had an extremely excited expression on his face.

The other looked completely ordinary, with nothing special about him, but he seemed to be about the same age as her.

"He is Might Duy, and he specializes in taijutsu," Tsunade introduced. "He is Nara Suzaku, and he specializes in the Shadow Secret Technique."

Natsuki glanced at Suzaku.

He was also a character from the original work, though he had very few scenes.

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, he had been part of Konoha's interception squad, assigned specifically to monitor and stop Naruto.

Natsuki fell into thought.

Kushina's squad actually had an excellent setup.

Aside from not having a medical ninja, they had everything, even a commander.

Ninja from the Nara clan had always been intelligent, and Suzaku was no exception.

"We'll take you to the exam room for the Chunin Exam's written test."

After a brief exchange of greetings, Tsunade turned and walked into the Ninja Academy.

The group followed her to the door of a classroom.

Natsuki glanced at it and saw that it was Class 5-A's classroom.

"I hope all of you pass," Tsunade said with a smile, stopping in her tracks.

"Don't worry!"

Nawaki said with great confidence, "Our theory exam scores are all very good!"

"Mine aren't!"

Might Duy said loudly, "But my youth will absolutely never lose!"

Nawaki, Kushina, and Suzaku subconsciously looked at him.

Tsunade froze for a moment and suddenly understood why Hiruzen had evaluated Duy that way.

Only Orochimaru and Natsuki remained calm.

The former was due to his personality.

The latter understood Duy's personality.

"As far as I know, cheating is allowed in the written exam," Natsuki paused, then said, "as long as you don't get caught."

"Really?"

Nawaki asked in surprise.

"It is true," Tsunade said, glancing at Natsuki. "Not bad. You even investigated the information in advance."

"I can help Duy-senpai pass," Suzaku said.

"Then I'm counting on you!"

Kushina immediately said, "Our squad can't fall at the first hurdle!"

"Let's go."

After Natsuki finished speaking, the group entered the Chunin Exam's written test room.

Their entrance drew the attention of the genin who were already in the classroom.

"Is that Natsuki?"

"Who's Natsuki? That sounds familiar."

"He's Orochimaru-sama's student. I didn't expect him to come take the Chunin Exam less than three months after graduating."

"So it's him!"

The classroom immediately became lively.

"Damn it!"

Nawaki listened to their discussion and asked unwillingly, "Why are they all talking about Natsuki? Do I not have any reputation at all?"

"You still need to work hard," Natsuki said with a smile.

"Just wait and see!"

Nawaki clenched his fist and said.

"That's strange."

Kushina looked around and asked, "Didn't Kae and the others take the Chunin Exam?"

"Is it because Jiraiya-sama hasn't returned to the village?" Nawaki guessed.

There was still half an hour before the exam began. They might still come.

Natsuki paused, then said, "Let's find seats first."

The group went to the back of the classroom and sat in the empty seats.

"Do you know any of the genin here?" Kushina asked curiously.

"No."

Nawaki and Suzaku answered in unison.

They had both just graduated, so naturally, they did not know many genin.

Suzaku's two teammates had both been seriously injured during the last mission, which was why he had been assigned as Kushina's teammate.

"I know some of them."

Duy scratched his head and said, "I used to be teammates with them, but after the missions ended, they stopped teaming up with me."

Natsuki and the others looked at each other, unsure of what to say.

They had all guessed some of the reasons.

The reason those genin were unwilling to team up with Duy was definitely because of his personality.

Under normal circumstances, lone ninja would be reassigned.

But when Hiruzen made assignments, he also had to consider the bond and coordination between teammates.

In a situation like Duy's, where both of his teammates disliked him, it was difficult for him to continue being assigned to a team.

After this happened again and again, he kept joining teams and switching teams.

Because his shinobi squad was never fixed, he also had no way to take the Chunin Exam, and in the end, he became a lifelong genin.

"Kae!"

At that moment, Kushina subconsciously stood up.

It was because Namikaze Minato, Uzumaki Kae, and Inuzuka Suzume had walked in.

"You finally came. I was worried you wouldn't show up."

After they came closer, Kushina took Kae's hand and said.

"We were delayed a bit coming back from the Land of Rain," Minato explained.

"You also went to the Land of Rain for a mission?" Nawaki asked curiously.

"Mm. Sensei sent us to handle some paperwork. Most of the time, we were training," Minato nodded and said.

"That sounds boring."

Nawaki immediately lost interest.

"Your mission really was more interesting," Minato said with some envy. "I've already heard about the annihilation of Suna's puppet master unit."

"Hehe!"

Nawaki immediately said proudly, "Our Team One took the greatest credit!"

The group chatted for a while, and soon it was nine in the morning.

Three young ninja entered the classroom.

"I am the chief examiner for your written test, Inuzuka Gaku," Gaku said. "The written test has only one rule. If I catch you cheating, your score will be canceled."

In other words, if he did not catch them, then they could cheat.

Natsuki subconsciously sized Gaku up twice.

In the original work, Gaku and Minato were teammates.

However, that was during the Third Shinobi World War.

They were most likely reorganized teammates.

After all, Gaku was much older than Minato.

"You can begin answering after you receive the test papers."

Gaku waved his hand, and the other two young ninja began handing out the test papers.

Soon, Natsuki received his test paper.

After reading through the paper, he nodded slightly.

It was somewhat difficult, but not by much.

He then looked at Nawaki and Yakushi Nonō, and found that they were both very calm.

Kushina, Suzaku, and the others did not show much change in expression either. Only Duy's face kept changing.

First he was anxious, then his youthful passion ignited. It gave off the feeling that although he did not know what to do, he was still very confident.

Fortunately, Suzaku was there.

After finishing his own questions, he used the Shadow Imitation Technique to control Duy's shadow, thereby controlling him to complete the answers.

The written test ended, and the crucial tenth question from the original joint Chunin Exam did not appear.

It was probably because there were not many genin taking the Chunin Exam to begin with, so there was no need to eliminate a portion of them this way.

"How was it?"

Nawaki turned his head and asked.

Although the exam was over, they had not been allowed to leave. They had to wait for the results before going to the next exam.

"No problem," Minato said with a faint smile.

"With the support of my teammate's youth, I will definitely pass!"

Duy gave a thumbs-up, revealing his snow-white teeth.

Everyone immediately fell silent. They only felt as if those teeth were sparkling.

Not long after, Gaku appeared again.

He held a list and said, "The genin whose names I call will gather at Konoha's village entrance at one in the afternoon."

After that, he began reading the names.

Soon, Natsuki heard their names. All three teams had passed.

"Waaaah!"

When Duy heard his name, his expression immediately changed and he cried loudly. "I did not let down my teammate's youth!"

All the genin in the classroom subconsciously looked at him.

Natsuki, Nawaki, and the others immediately felt restless in their seats.

Amid the awkward atmosphere, the first round of the Chunin Exam, the written test, came to an end.

At one in the afternoon, at Konoha's village entrance.

"Natsuki."

After Kushina arrived, she pulled Natsuki aside and asked curiously, "Is the Duy you recommended really reliable?"

Although she trusted Natsuki very much, Duy's performance in the morning had broadened her horizons and made her doubtful.

"Don't worry. He is definitely reliable."

Natsuki coughed lightly and said, "His behavior is just a little different from ordinary people."

"Is that only a little?" Kushina asked, unable to stop herself from retorting.

However, she only said this privately to Natsuki.

"His strength is still quite good."

Natsuki pinched her cheek and said, "He won't disappoint you."

Kushina's heart skipped slightly. Feeling a little embarrassed, she turned her head away and gave a soft response.

Natsuki had often pinched her face before, but now she vaguely felt that something was a little different.

After the two finished talking, they returned to the village entrance.

The chief examiner for this exam was still Gaku.

He announced the rules for the second exam.

This exam was a team battle. Simply put, they had to gather both the Heaven and Earth Scrolls to pass.

Before the exam began, each shinobi squad would randomly receive either a Heaven Scroll or an Earth Scroll.

In other words, they had to fight for the other scroll.

The exam location was the Forest of Death.

How should it be put?

It was exactly the same as the rules of the second exam in the original joint Chunin Exam.

Natsuki guessed that this had always been Konoha's tradition for the Chunin Exam.

"I'll go get the scroll!"

After Nawaki finished speaking, he ran up to Gaku.

"After receiving the scroll, immediately enter the exam area. You are not allowed to communicate with other shinobi squads," Gaku reminded him as he handed him a scroll.

"Okay."

Nawaki took the scroll and entered the Forest of Death with Natsuki and Nonō.

"It would be safer to put the scroll in my Shadow Space," Natsuki said.

Nawaki glanced at the scroll, then handed it to him. "It's the Heaven Scroll."

"To pass as quickly as possible, I suggest we split into two groups."

Natsuki thought for a moment, then said, "I'll go alone. You two go together. After getting the Earth Scroll, we'll regroup."

"Fine!"

Nawaki immediately agreed, then grinned and said, "Without you around, I can perform even better!"

Natsuki nodded.

He had the same thought.

After all, he needed to defeat five genin to unlock the ability from Bickslow's template.

If he stayed with Nawaki and Nonō, it would be inconvenient for him to fight three people alone.

"I'll have Black Feather follow you."

Natsuki summoned Black Feather. "After you get the Earth Scroll, have Black Feather notify me."

With Nawaki and Nonō's strength, even if there were only two of them, they would not be eliminated.

Unless they fought Kushina, Minato, and the others.

Besides, even if they were eliminated, as long as the Heaven Scroll was on him, they could still pass.

After Natsuki finished speaking, he turned and walked in another direction.

As he walked, he summoned five dolls.

After injecting souls into them, he had them fly in every direction.

Although the Forest of Death was very large, he quickly found another shinobi squad.

Natsuki rushed over at once.

He did not hide at all and appeared openly in front of them.

"Natsuki?"

The expressions of the three genin changed drastically at the same time.

They naturally knew Natsuki's name very well.

"Wait. He's alone!"

The young ninja who was the captain suddenly gained confidence.

Natsuki did not waste any words and took out a wooden sword.

Water Breathing, Third Form, Flowing Dance!

A stream of water surrounded him as the wooden sword swiftly swung three times.

The three genin were sent flying.

"What scroll do you have?" Natsuki asked, holding his sword.

"Heaven. Heaven Scroll," the young ninja answered with a trembling voice.

Natsuki turned and left.

Seeing this, the three genin looked at one another, all feeling as if they had survived a disaster.

Natsuki soon found a second shinobi squad.

After defeating them at lightning speed, he learned that they also had a Heaven Scroll, so he continued forward.

[Congratulations, Host. You have unlocked Bickslow Template Ability Two, Doll, Linear Formation.]

Natsuki looked at the words that appeared before his eyes and nodded slightly.

He had defeated six genin, so he naturally met the condition.

With a thought, Natsuki controlled the five dolls and had them line up in a row.

The next moment, the five dolls lit up, and a ray of light flew out, cutting a tree in front of them in half.

Its power was somewhere between C-rank and B-rank. It was barely acceptable.

Natsuki was more looking forward to the remaining three formations.

At that moment, the sound of something cutting through the air rang out.

Black Feather descended from the sky.

Natsuki raised an eyebrow and thought to himself that there was no need to keep troubling other shinobi squads.

He followed Black Feather and soon saw Nawaki and Nonō.

"I just fought one against three and defeated a shinobi squad!"

When Nawaki saw Natsuki, he could not help showing off.

"Very impressive."

Natsuki smiled and said, "In the second round of this Chunin Exam, you contributed the most."

The three of them ran toward the finish line.

When they arrived at the finish line, they saw Gaku.

Natsuki handed him the Heaven and Earth Scrolls.

"Congratulations. You have successfully passed the second round of the Chunin Exam," Gaku said with a smile. "The third round will be held at the First Training Ground two days from now."

"Are we the first shinobi squad to arrive?"

Nawaki cared more about their ranking.

"You are the first," Gaku answered.

"Great!"

Nawaki immediately became excited.

Natsuki and the others did not leave right away. Instead, they stood where they were and waited.

Soon, they waited until Kushina, Minato, and the others arrived.

All three shinobi squads passed.
