Chapter 122: Ophis
Either of them appearing in any supernatural area would cause a stir.
Ophis was a force beyond standard calculation, her power vast enough to leave most opponents helpless.
Even high tier gods like Odin placed below her in output.
"Vali, it seems you've aligned yourself with the Khaos Brigade." Yasuhiro said.
Vali looked at Yasuhiro.
"You've gotten even stronger since we last met. If I don't seek out greater challenges, I'll never bridge the gap between us."
"And Ophis is your shortcut?"
Yasuhiro stepped closer to Ophis.
Unlike others who would panic in her presence, he calmly reached out and patted her head, gently smoothing her long hair.
The motion was natural and practiced.
To him, Ophis was simply a detached girl who happened to be a dragon god.
Ophis didn't pull away or display any annoyance.
She leaned slightly into the touch, accepting the gesture without hesitation.
"I'm not interested in cheap tricks," Vali remarked.
"Most members of the Khaos Brigade think they can do whatever they want just because Ophis granted them decimal of her power."
"But Cao Cao and the hero faction make excellent sparring partners for me."
"Your choice of sparring partners might have some issues," Yasuhiro replied.
"Cao Cao and his group recently crossed paths with me and were forced to retreat."
"Judging by the condition they left in, I doubt he's fully recovered yet."
Vali took note of the comment.
When he had tested his strength against Cao Cao within the Khaos Brigade, something had felt off about his opponent's condition.
Now the reason was clear.
"Ophis, why are you here?" Yasuhiro asked, looking down at her.
"I missed you," Ophis replied plainly.
"We checked the church earlier, but you weren't there," Vali added.
"Ophis expanded her perception across the dimensions to locate you."
"Didn't I give you a mark to contact me directly?" Yasuhiro asked.
"I forgot. It was too troublesome," Ophis said quietly.
Yasuhiro sighed while lightly ruffling her hair.
Their initial meeting had been simple enough.
Ophis had previously approached him to join the Khaos Brigade in her pursuit to reclaim the dimensional gap from Great Red.
Yasuhiro knew the brigade's leaders were merely exploiting her raw power for their own agendas, something he found thoroughly disagreeable.
Instead of joining them, Yasuhiro had drawn Ophis's attention toward himself.
While she hadn't abandoned her ultimate goal, her primary attachment had shifted from the dimensional rift to him.
This shift was precisely why Cao Cao had targeted Yasuhiro earlier.
Without Ophis's direct presence, the Khaos Brigade lost much of its leverage, leaving its members scrambling to maintain their standing.
Yet, despite their frustration over her frequent departures to find the saint, none of them had the strength to challenge him directly.
