DxD: The Holy Knight!

Chapter 74: Rookies Four

"Stop."

Before they could even fight, Rias and Akeno heard a sudden voice.

He appeared right between the two of them.

With a gentle wave of his hand, the attacks they had been preparing to launch disappeared.

Rias and Akeno landed safely on the ground.

Yasuhiro stepped onto the uneven ground.

"That show just now was incredibly boring," he said.

Hearing Yasuhiro refer to their intense battle as boring, Rias and Akeno reacted differently.

Rias felt furious at first then remembered her earlier defeats.

Before he could bully her, She stopped herself.

On the contrary, Akeno looked full of genuine grievance.

If Rias hadn't been so focused on avoiding Yasuhiro's bullying, she'd have been shocked to see her queen wearing such an expression.

Looking like a wronged girl, it was an appearance Rias never imagined Akeno could make.

Given her normal personality, it was unlikely for her to act that way.

She rarely showed her true feelings and the expressions she usually make were nothing more than a carefully crafted disguise.

But right then, Akeno acted completely different.

Ever since Yasuhiro reincarnated Akeno as an angel, she had developed a deep subconscious affection for him.

She viewed him much like a husband figure.

It was due to the uncontrollable influence of her subconscious that she couldn't wait to invite Yasuhiro over as soon as she made a progress in her holy lightning training.

She felt like a little girl who had received an award at school and desperately wanted to show off her achievements to an adult.

Now, instead of receiving the warm encouragement she had expected, she was told her efforts were boring.

This made her feel wronged.

Akeno felt highly conflicted in her mind at that time.

Though, This feeling of affection was only a subconscious construct. Her conscious mind remained clear.

Otherwise, she'd have seriously suspected that the brave saint cards he used contained some mind control.

At that moment, Akeno replaced her expression with her usual one.

"You two must be filled with resentment," Yasuhiro said.

"I wouldn't dare," Rias replied in a deliberately lowered.

"Saying you wouldn't dare just means you do hold resentment in your heart," Yasuhiro pointed out.

"The power of destruction is an innate power of the bael clan. The bael clan has always been second only to the four great maou in status within the underworld."

"I don't need to explain its strength to you, do I?"

"Your mother was from the bael clan. You and your brother inherited the power through her line. However, your brother is now one of the four great maous."

"His mastery over the power of destruction makes countless enemies tremble with fear."

"Meanwhile, your powers only earned you the mere title of the crimson haired ruin princess, which sounds like a fake title given just to make you feel good."

As Yasuhiro spoke at length, Rias's expression turned painful especially when he mentioned Sirzechs.

As Rias's queen, Akeno was familiar with her situation.

Sirzecks doted her to the extreme and Rias greatly admired him in return.

Unfortunately as his sister, Rias's personal brilliance was destined to be overshadowed.

Rias worked hard and got herself part of the Rookies Four.

Yet whenever outsiders talked about her, they would mention the current maou and treat her as if she were just a foil to her brother.

She disliked this fucked up reality.

When it came to her title as the crimson haired ruin princess, it was exactly as Yasuhiro had said.

It felt like an empty title...

Because whenever others saw Rias, the first thing they thought of was her brother Sirzechs.

With such an overwhelmingly powerful brother, it didn't matter how hard Rias worked.

Even if she had a lot of personal achievements to show for her efforts, they were all wiped out by the simple fact that her brother was the maou Sirzechs.

Just like the geniuses that people often talked about, that single phrase could erase all of their grueling efforts.

People would claim they only succeeded because they were geniuses...

They ignored how much sweat and tears those so called geniuses had shed in secret.

It was the exact same situation for Rias.

If Yasuhiro heard Akeno's self monolog, he'd probably die of cringe.

Rias? Hardwork? These are foreign concepts to the spoiled girl.
