Chapter 238: The Benefit Of Physical Intimacy
Her voice was shaky, like someone who had just finished crying. Still, it possessed an ethereal presence that almost swallowed him in its essence. He could tell that she was not a human; she certainly did not look like one.
This woman was definitely a goddess by the way she moved gracefully, as though her feet never touched the ground. What he couldn't tell was what she was the goddess of!
She moved towards the window, the night breeze causing her flawless silver hair to flutter lightly as she took a deep breath. There was no smile on her face, and the tears still clung desperately to her cornea.
"What do you mean you have the right room?" Jacob said, looking at her with a straight expression on his face. He no longer was shocked, as it seemed that this woman posed no harmful intent towards him. In fact, she looked sad, rather than as though she had come to fight.
"I've been in this exact room before. I took my last lover here. He was a joy, had white, soft hair exactly like yours." She turned towards him and ran her fingers through her hair, taking a deep breath that accentuated her already voluptuous chest and backside.
"Isn't that the kind of information you keep to yourself?" Jacob raised an eyebrow. "You still haven't told me why you are here."
"I'm here because I've been watching you, Jacob… Yes, I asked Uga what your name was. I've been watching you, and I would like to sponsor you, assuming none of the other constellations have gotten to you." She smiled, but behind the smile was still a very vivid sense of sadness that enveloped her.
"You're the first one I've seen."
"Well… you may already know me, but I will still introduce myself. I am the goddess Elyssara, the Weeping Goddess." She pressed her palm against her voluptuous chest, which seemed very eager to escape the clothing that it rested within. "I am very fond of powerful warriors such as yourself. I have noticed that in 23 floors, you have not even sweated a little during any fight. I really… admire that."
She came over to the bed and sat beside him, now looking into his eyes with her violet, tear-filled ones, searching as though looking for the answer to an unasked question. Jacob simply stared back.
"So what does your sponsorship entail?" Jacob asked, not caring how she felt about his wins so far. Even though she was a goddess, possessing otherworldly beauty, Jacob never allowed himself to be the first to look away from a beautiful woman's gaze.
"Well… I would be recognized as your benefactor. You would get certain benefits in the later rounds… I'm sorry… heavens, you look just like him." She brought her hands up to touch his face but seemingly restrained herself. This was the first time that she had seen him so clearly.
"Just like who?"
"My last lover. You have his eyes, his nose… c-can I touch your hair?" she said with a faint glint in her tear-filled eyes.
"Uhm… sure." Jacob was a little uncomfortable that a strange woman was demanding to touch his hair for no reason, but he let her anyway. If he even sniffed a single hint of malice, he would respond in kind, not caring if she was a woman or not.
She stretched her pristine, porcelain hands forward, the color of her nails matching her eyes. She ran her fingers through his hair and exhaled, closing her eyes, but not a single teardrop came out of either of them. A slight moan escaped her lips.
Jacob merely had a confused expression as her hands ran through his hair slowly. "So what kind of benefits were you talking about? Do you mean I can use weapons in the later stages?"
"It's not very often that I decide to sponsor fighters. I have to have seen something in them… I have been watching these battles for hundreds of years now, and I have only sponsored two fighters. The last one looked exactly like you…" She retracted her hand and smiled, half-heartedly. "And yes, you would get the benefit of using weapons in the later stages of the tower."
Jacob listened keenly as she spoke. He certainly liked the idea of being able to use Excalibur later in the tower, even though he did not have much use for it. His weapon proficiency was far higher than his physical prowess, and if he did use weapons, he may not be able to keep himself from unaliving someone during the duel.
"Is that all?"
Jacob rested on his back, his shirt was unbuttoned, and his hair was slightly wet, as he had just taken a shower. "Is that all the benefits I'll get?"
She turned her gaze downwards. "I know it is not much, but trust me… anyone of those fighters out there would kill to be able to use their weapons in battle… there is one more benefit."
Her voice became soft. It still had that sorrowful tone about it, but it had become much softer. She looked into his eyes more intently now, an almost imperceptible glint within hers.
"Why do I feel like I know what you're about to say?"
"It's a benefit that I freely give to you. And it will be a contractual agreement for the duration of time in the tower." Elyssara smiled again. Even though she seemed like she already shouldered a burden that was insurmountable, she did like to engage herself in the pleasures of mortals. She looked into Jacob's eyes and could only find but a faint, nearly hidden hint of grief that had been buried in the young man's past. Another reason why she wanted Jacob. She would never physically engage herself with a man who still harbored his grief within him very blatantly. "The benefit of physical intimacy."
She whispered slightly, but Jacob was not moved. He merely raised his brow again, a small curve manifesting on the side of his lips in mild amusement…
