Adrian quietly walked the familiar, yet strange, roads. The feeling of seeing people bustling about certainly felt odd to him.

He had spent just a week on Savage Earth, and yet he was already feeling awkward being back in the civilized world. The smooth pavement under his feet felt weird, and so did the sound of distant traffic.

In some way, he was missing the calm yet chaotic life of Savage Earth. Adrian stopped for a moment, looking up at the clear blue sky, smiling.

"At least I’m in the modern world now," he whispered to himself. "I can figure out a few things, like building a kiln, about pregnancy, and other stuff to help the tribe when I go back."

The thought gave him renewed motivation, and so he adjusted the strap of his backpack as he approached the familiar gates of his old high school.

He had spent countless hours within these walls in his previous life, but now, returning as a teenager once again, everything felt both familiar and strange.

The familiar red-bricked buildings, the laughter of students in the corridors, and the scent of freshly cut grass on the school field stirred something in him, reminding him of a life he had long forgotten about.

As he strolled towards the main building, lost in thought, someone yelled at him, snapping him out of his nostalgia.

"Hey, you! Stop loitering and get moving!"

Adrian turned to see the guard at the gate glaring at him impatiently. He chuckled softly. Although the guard was always stern towards the students, the old man also had a soft side.

Adrian only got to know about it after being bullied.

Bullied? Yup. It was also a stupid phase of his life. Then again, he looked at his new physique. Only a fool would think about bullying him now.

"Sorry!" Adrian flashed a sheepish grin at the guard before hurrying inside. "Let’s just get in before I see... her, just my fucking luck."

Then, as he turned a corner, he saw her.

His ex-girlfriend, Gina, stood by her locker with her friends. She looked just as he remembered. Gentle expressions, long dark hair that reached her waist, and her eyes always sparkling with laughter.

Adrian had fallen for her back then, but in this life, he wouldn’t repeat his mistakes again. He would rather marry himself than ever cross paths with him.

Even without that factor, she was his ex for a reason. He had no place for pretentious people in his life anymore, especially those who couldn’t respect his family.

She had been his first love, but their romance had soured quickly. She said something about his mother that no man could forgive, and he broke up with her. However, he was a pathetic excuse of a man back then and went crawling back to her.

But not this time.

With a determined expression, Adrian walked past Gina without so much as a glance in her direction. Still, he could feel her eyes on him, her expression shifting from surprise to irritation, but he refused to let it affect him.

Entering the classroom, Adrian sat near the back and settled in, ignoring his classmates’ whispers and curious glances. Adrian had a clear goal in his mind.

He was here to make things right, to build a better future for himself and his family, and to do the same for his tribe. Dwelling on the past and petty drama was the last thing on his mind.

Lost in thought, he didn’t notice when someone tapped him on the shoulder.

"Hey, Adrian. Long time no see. Whoa... dude, did you join a gym or something? What happened to you over the summer break?"

Adrian turned to see his old friend, Michael, grinning at him.

"Michael! Yeah, it’s been a while," Adrian replied, returning the smile when he saw his freckled face and extraordinarily big glasses. "As for these... I had nothing better to do, so I just did some exercise here and there."

"Some...? Dude, you have to coach me too!"

"Fucker, stop dancing and sit already."

Michael was Adrian’s only friend during his time in high school. Unfortunately, their relationship had soured because of a misunderstanding, and in the past, Adrian was too proud to admit his mistake, and they drifted away.

But Michael did well for himself and even married into a decent family. Unlike him, who got screwed repeatedly.

Well, it’s all in the past. No point dwelling on it anymore.

Suddenly, their attention drifted towards the commotion at the back of the room. There, amidst a group of students, stood Chad, doing what he did best: bullying others.

Adrian felt a knot forming in the pit of his stomach when he saw him. All the trauma he had received from his hand made him have that reaction.

Why am I feeling this way after all this time?

Chad was notoriously known for his bullying tactics, targeting anyone he deemed weaker or inferior. Today was no exception as he stood over a smaller, timid-looking student and hurled insults and threats.

Adrian felt for the kid and was about to step in when it happened.

A rough voice said, and at the same time, a new system notification appeared before him.
