Dual World Apocalypse: My Harem Gives Me 10x Rewards

Chapter 73: Step 73 to Greatness: Always Open Mystery Boxes With Hannah

After having their fill, everyone returned to work. Sera and Hannah were looking for water from within the settlement, and Root was busy re-tilling the soil. Tsukika was helping Mika master the art of the bow, and the rest of them were helping with the repairs.

Why were they training with bows? Because Tsukika had seen Adrian giving out the bow mastery skill book to everyone while he was clearing his storage.

Tsukika, surprisingly, had mastered the bow too. So instead of the women referring to the skill book, she took it upon herself to teach them about bow... one woman at a time.

As for Adrian... well, he was shocked at the moment.

"...what is this card?" he mumbled, holding the combined charcoal pit card.

Till now, whenever he had combined cards, he had reached to an epic version of them. He had assumed the charcoal pit would be the same since it was a structure at the end of the day.

However, right at the moment he combined two rare cards, instead of turning purple, the card turned red and felt warm!

It was the first time a card was making him ’feel’ something. To make things even weirder, it did not have a rarity anymore. Just an image of a river-like structure, but with all the redness around it, it looked more like a river of lava than anything else.

Name: Lava Ridge

Type: Terrain Card

Rarity: N/A

Biome: Lava Biome

Affected area: 42 m × 42 m

Restriction: Can only be used in underground caverns.

Description: Upon activation, the ground within the affected radius cracks open and begins reshaping itself. Soil hardens into volcanic rock, fissures open and glow orange beneath the surface, and slow-moving rivers of lava emerge along the largest cracks.

Existing vegetation, structures, or terrain features within the radius are destroyed during the conversion. This process is irreversible.

An entire area would be changed forever!? And it’s not a small area either.

Previously, the biggest structure he had made from the cards was the pond, and even that was less than a quarter of the area this terrain card would consume.

Adrian couldn’t think of a single use of having such a terrain. Well, other than having it as a defensive structure. Even then, making this terrain would do them more harm than good, especially in the lush forest.

He didn’t want to put it anywhere and start an unstoppable forest fire.

The concern wasn’t because he was worried about the forest, but he knew something like that would definitely attract the goddess of death’s attention. How could she not pay attention to an entire forest dying?

"Oh, wait, there’s a restriction for using it," he said, breathing a sigh of relief. "Can only be used underground. Huh, who would waste their time digging out such a large area underground for no reason?"

Adrian was happy that he discovered a new type of card, but that was it. He didn’t think he would use it anytime soon, if ever.

With the inventory empty, it was time to open the celestial chest and hope for the best.

"Hehe... I hope I get something good," Adrian mumbled, rubbing his hands together. "Wait, before I do that!"

He sent Hannah a text to drop everything and hurry over to him. Since she was a walking lottery cheat, he wanted to have her close when he opened the chest.

I would have given her the chest if I could take it out of my inventory, but oh well, this isn’t bad either.

"Master! I have something to—eek!"

Before Hannah could even say what she was about to, she tripped and fell again. Adrian could only sigh and lift her up in his arms, not wanting to delay the reveal any further.

Hannah was flustered, as it was the first time she had been so close to Adrian. Her face turned bright red, and her heart raced as she felt his strong arms holding her in a princess carry.

"M-Master what—!?" Hannah stammered, her cheeks red, but Adrian just showed her the gesture of zipping lips before focusing on the chest again.

Unlike her flustered state, Adrian was too excited to unlock the chest that he didn’t even think about what he was doing. While holding Hannah in a princess carry, he clicked on the chest icon in his holographic inventory to open it.

"Woah..."

The Celestial Chest glowed brightly before vanishing from his inventory. In its place, a large, mysterious egg-shaped thing appeared, occupying 30 out of 31 inventory slots.

The egg, if one could call it that, wasn’t covered in a white shell. Instead, it was covered in black metallic scales that seemed to shift colors whenever he looked at it.

"What the—?!" Adrian’s eyes widened in shock.

He was so taken aback by the sight of the massive egg that he completely forgot he was holding Hannah when his arms loosened.

"Ow!" Hannah landed on her backside, rubbing it with a pout. "Master... that hurt..."

Adrian still didn’t notice her and kept staring at the egg of unknown origin.

"A giant egg? What the hell is this supposed to be?"

The only way to answer that was to check its stats page. And for that, he had to bring that egg out. Thankfully, he did not have to pull it out of his inventory, he could just ’summon’ it. A mechanic that was unique to the egg, given its size.

Adrian focused on the egg in his inventory and willed it to appear. A bright flash of light appeared beside him as the massive egg materialized before him... giving him and everyone else a massive shock.

Why the shock?

Because the egg stood nearly two and a half meters tall, with a width of almost one and a half meters near the end.

Its shell looked and felt like metal and glowed with iridescent patterns under the sunlight. The egg was so large that it cast a noticeable shadow over Adrian and the surrounding area.

Name: ???’s egg

Type: Egg

Rarity: Unknown

Hatching rate: 0.00%

Diet: Blood of other creatures.

Temperature: It’s too cold out here (needs a hot environment to hatch).

"Great, even its stats don’t say much," he muttered, circling the egg slowly. "What the hell is supposed to hatch from something this big?"

His first thoughts were of a dinosaur, given that they were in primitive times. However, from the documentaries he had seen about them, they had large eggs, but the shell wasn’t made of a metal-like substance.

"Wait, needs a hot environment to hatch?"

As he read that requirement, he remembered the card in his hand.

What could possibly be hotter than a lava ridge?

"But where am I supposed to find such a large underground area to build it?" Adrian thought, putting the egg back into his inventory. "I can’t put the egg out here, nor can I store it in my inventory forever. This darn thing just takes too much space!"

Suddenly, opening the chest in such haste did not seem like a wise choice. At least, then it would only take one slot, not thirty.

"Master... can I talk now?" Hannah asked, still rubbing her sore back.

Adrian nodded absentmindedly, only for her to shove a card in his hand.

"I don’t know if you know what it is, but I got it from the wishing well—"

Once again, before she could finish her sentence, Adrian pulled her into a bear hug, lifting her small frame off the ground.

"You’re my lucky star, Hannah!" he yelled, looking at the card she just gave him.
