Chapter 365 - 319: Trying to Charm Me?
Across the stone bridge, a cursory glance revealed...
Zelir and the others could still see the figures of a few Decayed at the entrance of the Ancient Castle...
Or perhaps they weren’t Decayed at all, but some kind of higher-level guards.
Compared to the Low Level Decayed they had just dispatched with ease, the gear on those figures across the bridge was far superior.
The Armor they wore wasn’t the tattered, heavily rusted junk; it was all high-quality equipment, and the weapons in their hands gleamed with a cold light.
Moreover, they were wandering around in groups, seemingly on patrol.
Clearly, they weren’t to be trifled with.
"All right, let’s head back," Zelir said with a nod.
The team began their return journey.
First, they returned to the light barrier at the entrance to the second floor of the ruins. Then, they emerged from the Temple and passed through the Central Courtyard Garden and the front hall area.
The journey was smooth, taking less than a day, including a short rest of a few hours.
After all, there’s a significant difference between a quick trip back and a slow, exploratory treasure hunt.
After passing through the light barrier one by one, the team finally returned to the underground hall from before.
A nostalgic, boisterous wave of heat washed over them.
The hall was still the same scene of chaos and vitality.
"Hey! My brothers and I risked our lives for this Demon Core, and you’re only offering Five Gold Coins?"
"Piss off! If you’re not selling, don’t waste my time!"
"Need a Mage! Need a Warrior! Need a Swordsman!"
"Don’t team up with that guy... I’ve seen several teams go in with him, and he’s always the only one who comes back alive."
"Don’t you dare spread rumors! I’m warning you, I’ll beat you up!"
"Get the hell out of the way! Don’t block the path! My brother is dying!"
Two burly men carrying a stretcher rushed toward the medical area. An Adventurer lay on it, blood gushing from his abdomen.
How lively.
"We’re finally back..."
Gray stretched leisurely. "This trip was exhausting."
"Yeah."
A relaxed smile appeared on Zelir’s face. "Time to go sell our spoils."
Hearing this, the weary expressions on everyone’s faces were immediately replaced by joy.
Their haul from this trip was quite substantial...
Nine Minotaur Demon Cores.
A massive Magic Crystal, over a meter in length and width, its value currently inestimable.
A series of rare Magic Plants, sixteen stalks in total, not including the three that were unrecorded in any known guide.
A Fog Demon Core from an adult.
A Thorn Giant Beast Core.
And some assorted Armor of the Decayed Fragments.
The total value was definitely over a thousand Gold Coins!
Zelir planned their next steps, deciding to start by selling the less valuable spoils, like the Armor Fragments.
There was no need to go to a Blacksmith Shop in Sengu Town or shop around for the best price.
The underground hall had its own Blacksmith Shop, and the Armor Fragments weren’t worth much anyway, leaving little room for haggling.
Before they even stepped into the Blacksmith Shop, a dry wave of scorching metal heat rushed out to meet them.
It was accompanied by the CLANG CLANG CLANG of a hammer.
Zelir took the Armor of the Decayed Fragments from his Storage Pouch and piled them all onto the long table in front of the Blacksmith Shop.
"Boss, take a look at these."
"Coming!"
The burly blacksmith stopped his work.
He wiped the glistening beads of sweat from his forehead and came to the long table to carefully examine the fragments.
"Oh... this forging technique is very old."
"The materials are decent, Refined Iron Ore mixed with a small amount of Black Steel... but unfortunately, it’s been poorly maintained. The corrosion is too severe."
The blacksmith picked up a piece with his tongs and tossed it into the nearby furnace.
With a TSSSSSS, the armor plate quickly turned red-hot.
"You see... the loss from reforging will be at least thirty percent."
Zelir didn’t understand the intricacies of this craft, but Marcus and Gray, who were standing beside him, nodded repeatedly.
They knew much more about this than Zelir and agreed with the blacksmith’s assessment.
"For all of this, as a single lot, I’ll give you ten gold coins and thirty silver coins. How about it?" the blacksmith finally offered.
Zelir glanced at Marcus, who gave a slight nod.
"Done," Zelir agreed readily.
A bit of space was finally cleared out in his Storage Pouch.
Next up was selling the Magic Crystal and Magic Plants.
These two would not be so easy.
Ordinary shops didn’t have the expertise to appraise the quality of Magic Plants and Magic Crystals.
So, they had to find shops that specialized in selling Magic Potions or Magic Items.
They left the underground hall. It was now afternoon.
A cool breeze blew past, refreshing the team.
With Marcus leading the way, they returned to Sengu Town proper and found a street that specialized in buying and selling supplies for Adventurers.
"This shop looks decent."
Marcus looked up at the sign.
It was designed with a certain flair.
It also clearly stated that they bought and sold Magic Potions and Magic Items.
"Hmm..."
Zelir nodded slightly.
Before going in, however, he deliberately took out his Mage’s Guild badge and pinned it to his chest.
It wasn’t to show off. He just wanted the shopkeeper to know: ’I am a real Mage. Don’t think I’m some greenhorn you can fool on the price.’
Just as he entered the shop, two Adventurers brushed past Zelir on their way out.
They were muttering something under their breath.
"I have a feeling we got ripped off..."
One of them had a look of clear dissatisfaction on his face.
"They only gave us twenty Gold Coins for that Magic Crystal."
"Shut up!"
The other one, a bearded man, was furious.
"Wasn’t it because you couldn’t keep your eyes off her the whole time? We had to take whatever price she offered, you idiot!"
