Chapter 96: Weapon, Armament, Assimilation
"Understood," Scheherazade noted with absolute clarity.
"Are there any other questions regarding magic?" Lucian asked, turning his gaze toward the other two girls.
"My progress is a bit slower, but casting itself is no longer an issue." Yamraiha raised her hand, projecting a spell formula that swiftly coalesced into a sphere of water. "My main hurdle lies in converting Commands and optimizing my magic replenishment."
Yamraiha excelled at meticulous, fine-tuned control, but her raw talent as a Spirit Summoner simply couldn't compare to Scheherazade's.
"That aspect is something you'll just have to develop gradually," Lucian advised. "However, since you're incredibly skilled at fine manipulation, I do have a suggestion."
"Please, go ahead." Yamraiha listened intently, her eyes filled with the deep respect of a student facing their mentor.
"In a certain other world, there exists something called a Magic Crest. In essence, it acts as an external Magic Slot," Lucian explained. "Because magic is an incredibly profound field, the actual breakthroughs achieved by a single generation of research can be vanishingly small. Therefore, a method was created to physically pass down accumulated research and spell formulas to the next generation."
"In practice, a Magic Crest functions like an external memory drive. And because it also assists in the casting process, it serves as both RAM and ROM simultaneously."
"Are you suggesting I use my Vassal Weapon to form a Magic Crest?" Yamraiha asked thoughtfully.
"Whether the Vassal Weapon directly forms the Magic Crest or simply acts as the physical medium to house it, both methods are perfectly viable," Lucian confirmed. "I recommend designing it to do both, as the two functions don't conflict."
It was just like Morgiana's Household Vessel in the original timeline—it possessed a fire attribute, but it also granted her the ability to fly.
The functions of the carving tool and the vessel being carved didn't conflict. As for its physical form, Yamraiha would have to conceptualize that herself, or allow her subconscious to naturally shape it during the forging process.
"What about you, Kougyoku?" Lucian asked, looking at the princess. "Have you encountered any issues?"
"Um... my magic is water-attributed, but I also possess the Djinn, Vinea..." Kougyoku trailed off, looking slightly conflicted.
Vinea was a Water Djinn. Her Falna-granted magic and her Djinn Equip essentially overlapped. While having both undeniably increased her combat endurance, it didn't do much to expand her overall versatility. The redundancy was glaring.
"The magic bestowed by the Falna is shaped entirely by an individual's innermost qualities, desires, and personal history," Lucian explained calmly. "The intense psychological pressure of relying solely on Djinn Equips naturally bred a subconscious desire for a secondary magic that aligns with what you're most familiar with—hence, water magic."
"Is it possible to change it...?" Kougyoku asked, biting her lip.
"You can forcefully overwrite it," Lucian nodded. "I can wipe your current magic. As for what will replace it... that entirely depends on how you actively steer your own desires."
Lucian continued, "You possess a high aptitude for water magic, so developing it further wouldn't be a bad choice. However, I personally recommend aiming for non-attribute mental interference magic, or even spatial magic. A front-line fighter's greatest weakness is a lack of mobility and unpredictable maneuvering. Spatial magic would perfectly cover your blind spots."
Kougyoku fell silent, pondering his words carefully.
"There's no need to rush. You have plenty of time to consider your options," Lucian added gently. "If you try to force a change in your mindset and end up awakening a completely useless magic, that would be a genuine waste."
"No, I've decided!" Kougyoku took a deep breath, her eyes flashing with resolve. "I want to awaken spatial magic! Only by becoming stronger can I truly protect everyone and carry out your will, Lord Lucian!"
"Very well."
Lucian didn't waste any time. He raised his hand and completely erased the water magic currently occupying Kougyoku's status board.
"Let's forge your Vassal Weapons first," Lucian said.
He stepped back and held out both hands. Dark mist surged from his left palm, while an expanse of ethereal white fog bloomed from his right.
[Annihilation Maker].
[Dimension Lost].
Lucian began weaving the two ultimate Longinus gears together. The fundamental core of a Vassal Weapon was effectively a magical beast. By utilizing Annihilation Maker to construct the physical framework of the beast, and then employing Dimension Lost to sever and isolate its internal space, he could create a perfectly blank soul vessel.
"[Sub-Species Balance Breaker]."
Lucian poured his mental power into the construct, violently shaping the chaotic fog into three distinct, tangible forms.
Yamraiha received a beautifully ornate ring. Scheherazade was given a delicate necklace. Ren Kougyoku was handed an elegant hairpin.
Because they hadn't yet imbued the items with their own will, the three artifacts were entirely blank. The moment Yamraiha slipped the ring onto her finger and channeled her intent, it flared with a brilliant azure light.
"It really works..." Yamraiha murmured, staring at the ring in awe. "I can store a massive amount of spell formulas inside it. As long as my magic holds out, I can instantly cast any spell I've pre-recorded!"
"If you manage to develop your own unique magic through the Falna later, you can also engrave that into the ring. This way, you won't be restricted by the hard limit of three Magic Slots," Lucian explained.
"Thank you, Lord Lucian!" Yamraiha beamed.
"Mine possesses the ability to autonomously synthesize Rukh." Scheherazade touched the necklace resting against her collarbone, a soft, relieved smile gracing her lips. "With this, I'll be able to utilize my Commands flawlessly even within the Divine Court."
Ren Kougyoku carefully slid the hairpin into her hair. "Mine grants the ability of spatial displacement. However, it requires an established magical marker to jump to..."
"If you use your Djinn Equip, Vinea, to manipulate water vapor in the atmosphere, creating microscopic water droplets to serve as your markers... you'll be able to teleport freely within that domain," Lucian pointed out. "This perfectly integrates your Djinn with your Vassal Weapon."
"I understand now!" Kougyoku's eyes lit up with profound realization.
If her Vassal Weapon alone couldn't fulfill the requirements, she could bridge the gap by combining it with her Djinn. Not only did this solve her mobility issue, but it also elevated her combat capabilities to an entirely new dimension.
