Chapter 612: Ancient Wilderness Mountain Range
Chapter 612: Chapter 611: Ancient Wilderness Mountain Range
Qin Ya knew that Xiao Jianfeng was a man of his word.
Making him go back on his word would surely earn Qin Ya a world of hurt.
By telling him the news, Qin Ya was able to gauge his character from his reaction. It was safe to say that earning a favor from Xiao Jianfeng was equivalent to gaining the backing of a Venerable. Within the Divine Country, no one would be able to touch him easily.
Looking at Xiao Jianfeng’s resigned expression, Qin Ya said lightly, “Alright.”
“Sigh, I knew it…”
Xiao Jianfeng had thought Qin Ya would refuse; he never expected him to agree.
“Really.”
“I have no reason to lie to you.”
“You little rascal, don’t tell me you had this in mind from the very beginning.”
Qin Ya shrugged his shoulders and said nothing.
He soon left the River Mountain Box.
Not long after, Jii Xingyue came to him and said that the Meiying Venerable was inviting him to travel to the Divine Capital together. However, the matter was of great importance, so he was not to speak of it.
“I understand.”
The Divine Capital was the heart of the Divine Country.
Although he didn’t know why the Meiying Venerable had sought him out, Qin Ya had always longed to visit the capital. To be escorted by a Venerable was an opportunity he couldn’t have hoped for.
The Meiying Venerable didn’t alert anyone. She didn’t even bring Jii Xingyue, heading for the Divine Capital alone with Qin Ya.
It was worth noting that Bi Xiaoyu had a sudden epiphany and entered seclusion, so she was unable to follow them. Qin Ya had her remain at the Inspectorate for the time being.
In a sprawling mountain range, all manner of Fierce Beasts lay dormant. There were eagles with vast, thousand-zhang wingspans; terrifying behemoths whose flames could scorch the land for a thousand li; venomous insects no larger than mosquitos, yet potent enough to kill an Era-Defining expert; and even rare species like Flood Dragons were not an uncommon sight. This was the border between Meiying County and the Divine Capital: the Ancient Wilderness Mountain Range!
Qin Ya and Meiying traveled through the range, a protective barrier of energy shimmering around them. They didn’t dare let their guard down for a moment—after all, even Venerables had fallen in the Ancient Wilderness Mountain Range.
“ROAR…”
Just then, an enraged roar echoed through the mountains.
A massive Exotic Beast came charging toward them. It had the head of a lion, four hooves that resembled eagle talons, and a body covered in a layer of fine black scales.
The Exotic Beast had no wings, but it whipped up violent gales that allowed it to gallop through the air. Its speed was also incredibly fast.
In the span of just two or three breaths, it crossed an immense distance and arrived before them. Its cavernous, bloody maw snapped open, and a terrifying energy began to condense within it. A fiery red light flickered as waves of scorching heat radiated outwards, making the surrounding space feel like a furnace.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM…
The light in the giant beast’s mouth grew brighter, and a liquid could be seen churning within. A moment later, a shocking pillar of molten lava erupted, surging toward Qin Ya and Meiying.
‘What terrifying heat,’ Qin Ya thought.
Qin Ya’s expression shifted slightly. The lava spewed by this giant beast was far more powerful than any natural phenomenon; even an Era-Defining King might not possess such might.
CLANG…
With a flash, his longspear was in his hand, letting out a startling hum.
The Four Symbols True Intent began to circulate, then erupted, forming a terrifying wave of Natural Energy that condensed at the tip of his spear. With a thunderous boom, a beam of light shot forth from the spearhead, tearing through the air.
The spear-light collided with the lava! An earth-shattering explosion!
The streams of lava shattered against the spear-light, scattering into innumerable droplets. They rained down upon the mountains below like a shower of fire meteors.
Wherever the fiery rain fell, birds and beasts fled in terror as mountains crumbled and forests were incinerated!
It created a scene of apocalyptic devastation.
“ROAR! Human, not bad!”
At that moment, a deep, rumbling voice came from above Qin Ya.
The terrifying beast’s mouth moved, and it spoke in human tongue!
But Qin Ya’s expression remained calm, showing no surprise. Once a Fierce Beast’s power reached a certain level, its intelligence became comparable to a human’s. Speaking was a trivial matter. In a place like Beihuang, where countless Exotic Beasts roamed, this was even more common.
“But in my eyes, you are still nothing more than an ant.”
As its voice faded, the giant beast let out a low growl. The airflow of the world suddenly shifted as gales materialized from thin air, churning the clouds. Fiery red flames then erupted from the beast’s body, merging with the raging winds.
It slowly formed into an incomparably powerful firestorm!
The power of this firestorm was immense, radiating heart-pounding fluctuations. Qin Ya judged its might to be no less than that of an ordinary Half-Venerable.
‘To think that a random beast in the Ancient Wilderness Mountain Range would have the power of a Half-Venerable. This place truly is fraught with peril!’
“A mere beast dares to act so presumptuously!”
Just then, a cold voice rang out, and a boundless Evil Qi filled the air!
The surrounding space suddenly froze, and the world fell silent!
BOOM!
A terrifying Palm Qi streaked across the sky, shooting straight for the firestorm. In an instant, the Palm Qi tore through the storm as if it were splitting bamboo, utterly shattering it.
“ROAR…”
Compared to its earlier majestic ferocity, this roar was tinged with terror. A red glow erupted from the beast’s mouth as it spewed another gout of lava!
Yet, before the Palm Qi, the lava was as fragile as paper.
With a deafening crash, the Palm Qi enveloped the lava and slammed directly into the beast’s massive head. The creature’s body trembled, its eyes rolled back, and an overwhelming agony made it howl in pain as it was sent flying backward.
Not far away, Meiying, her face an icy mask, indifferently withdrew her hand.
‘Tsk, this woman is really violent,’ Qin Ya mused.
Looking at the frosty-faced Meiying, whose appearance was identical to Fang Mei’s, and then recalling Fang Mei’s seductive, charming demeanor, Qin Ya couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of dissonance.
The two of them were complete opposites, yet they shared the exact same face.
By now, the giant beast had recovered its senses. It stared at the Meiying Venerable in the distance, its massive body trembling and its eyes filled with panic.
“A… A Venerable!”
The beast practically trembled as it choked out that single word.
It never imagined that the two humans it had casually intercepted in mid-air would be Venerable Level experts. What were the chances that it would be so unlucky?
“Die.”
As the word fell, a majestic Evil Qi surged toward the heavens with terrifying power.
Enveloped by this Evil Qi, the beast couldn’t muster the slightest will to fight. Just as Meiying was about to kill it, a voice rang out.
“Wait a moment,” Qin Ya said calmly.
“What is it?” Meiying’s brow furrowed in confusion.
To the beast, Qin Ya’s sudden voice was like a sound from the heavens. It looked at him, its earlier ferocity completely gone, its eyes now filled with gratitude.
“There are countless Fierce Beasts in the Ancient Wilderness Mountain Range. If we continue on foot, we’re bound to be interrupted. We may not fear them, but it will be troublesome. This beast’s strength is considerable, and it is also fast. Why don’t we use it as a mount? That way, we can avoid being bothered by other Fierce Beasts and pass through more quickly.”
Qin Ya said with a faint smile.
