Chapter 715: Last Gift, Last Message
Seven days had passed since Gui Ying left the Gui Clan’s secret realm. When the final toll of the golden bell echoed through the secret realm, Feng Xiyan finally stood up from the cold floor.
Looking at the two bronze mirrors submerged beneath the hot spring, his eyes were devoid of emotion.
After a brief moment of silence, Feng Xiyan put on the clothes prepared by Gui Ying and left the spiritual hot spring.
Outside, Gui Di had been waiting. Clasping his fists, he bowed and greeted him respectfully, "Great General Feng."
Feng Xiyan looked up at the bright sky and asked in a hoarse voice, "Where is Gui Ying?"
Gui Di was silent for a long time before answering, "My Young Master has left."
Receiving this answer, Feng Xiyan asked again, "Those bell sounds... were they because of him?"
Gui Di’s jaw tightened slightly, but he still replied, "...Yes."
Hearing this, Feng Xiyan fell silent.
Gui Di remained in a bowing position while Feng Xiyan continued to stare at the sky.
Reaching out his hand, Feng Xiyan felt the gentle wind brush past his palm, slipping through his fingers. Sensing the cold yet refreshing breeze, he slowly closed his hand, as if trying to grasp something.
Looking down at his clenched fist, Feng Xiyan finally spoke, "Send me back to Xiqiang City."
"Yes," Gui Di responded. Straightening his waist, he stepped forward and extended his hand. "Great General Feng, please."
Feng Xiyan turned and grasped Gui Di’s hand without hesitation.
The moment he did, his vision darkened, and the ground seemed to vanish beneath his feet. Before he could react, he felt solid ground again.
When his vision recovered, Feng Xiyan released Gui Di’s hand and looked ahead. In the distance, three large characters were carved into a massive wooden plaque above the city gate.
Xiqiang City.
Turning back to Gui Di, Feng Xiyan said, "Thank you."
"This is the least I could do," Gui Di replied. Flipping his palm, a black ring appeared, resting quietly at its center.
"Great General Feng, this spatial ring was specially prepared for you by my Young Master. Inside are items he wishes to give you. Aside from storage, it can also be used as a communication tool with any of the Gui Clan’s members."
After he said that, Feng Xiyan took the black spatial ring in silence.
Looking at his emotionless face, Gui Di added, "This ring is a symbol of the Gui Clan. The moment you put it on, you will become one of us."
Hearing this, Feng Xiyan asked, "Why did Gui Ying give me this ring?"
Gui Di did not answer directly. Instead, he said, "Great General Feng, my Young Master left a message for you."
Meeting Feng Xiyan’s cold gaze, Gui Di continued solemnly, "Feng Xiyan, do not hesitate. Do whatever you wish to do. Remember—the Gui Clan and I, Gui Ying, will always stand by your side."
After speaking, Gui Di clasped his fists. "Great General Feng, may you achieve your goal. Until we meet again."
He bowed deeply, then turned into a streak of golden light and shot into the sky.
Feng Xiyan watched the disappearing golden light in silence, his hand tightening around the black spatial ring. Looking away, he put on the spatial ring, then bit his fingertip and smeared blood onto its surface.
The moment the bright red blood touched the spatial ring, a golden formation appeared under Feng Xiyan’s feet.
Wung~!
The golden formation began to rotate, gradually accelerating. Two seconds later, a golden dragon surged out, circling the sky twice before diving straight toward Feng Xiyan’s forehead.
Boom!
As the dragon vanished into the center of Feng Xiyan’s brows, the formation slowly dissipated.
Feng Xiyan opened his eyes and took a deep breath. He could feel that his connection to the Yin Mirror had grown stronger. And faintly, he could also sense the Yang Mirror.
Lowering his gaze to the black spatial ring, a flicker of determination flashed across his cold eyes.
"It’s time to settle the score," he whispered softly.
As his words disappeared into the silent surroundings, Feng Xiyan lifted his foot and walked toward Xiqiang City in the distance.
Standing on top of the city wall, one of the soldiers noticed someone approaching from a distance. Narrowing his eyes, he stared at the man dressed in black.
When the soldier saw the man’s face clearly, his eyes lit up.
"It’s the Great General! The Great General is back! Open the city gate!"
The moment his voice rang out, the other soldiers all turned toward the direction he pointed.
After a brief moment of shock, they burst out excitedly, "The Great General is back! The Great General is back!"
Coming back to his senses, the Gate Captain hurriedly ordered, "Open the gate!"
"Yes, Captain!"
While the soldiers rushed to open the city gate, the Gate Captain turned to a nearby soldier and ordered, "Quick! Go and report this to General Xue!"
"This subordinate will go immediately!" the soldier responded before rushing down the stairs.
Outside the city wall, Feng Xiyan heard the soldiers’ cheers and glanced at them. However, his eyes held nothing but cold emptiness.
By the time Xue Ruhong and the other generals arrived, Feng Xiyan had already reached the city gate.
Kneeling before him, Xue Ruhong, Tan Pengtai, Fan Wanming, and Ding Zhenshun clasped their fists and greeted in unison, "This subordinate welcomes the Great General back home!"
"Home..." Feng Xiyan murmured dazedly.
Sensing something was off, Xue Ruhong asked, "Great General, why have you returned alone? Where are General Zhan and the others?"
Feng Xiyan didn’t know whether Wu Ruizhan and the others had survived the thunderbolts, but he was certain that Zhan Qi and those stationed at the Yu Rong Border Pass were safe.
Looking at Xue Ruhong, he replied, "General Zhan and Military Advisor Tuluo are guarding the Yu Rong Border Pass. As for the others, this general has not seen them since the battle with Jin Yu."
