Chapter 214: One Chance
Soon, Tuluo Cheng’s body could no longer withstand the pressure of the golden light, and he coughed up blood. "Cough!"
Watching everything from the side, Feng Xiyan’s heart trembled in awe.
Unlike Feng Xiyan, who was thrilled to witness a miracle, Tuluo Cheng felt like he was about to die.
Clenching his jaw, he endured the crushing pressure and thought, ’No! I can’t die here! I still need to avenge my tribesmen!’
The second that thought formed, an ethereal, male voice echoed in his mind.
"Born from love, raised by hatred, die with regret."
The ethereal voice shook Tuluo Cheng’s heart.
"W—who... are you?" he asked, glaring at the bronze mirror.
Instead of answering, the voice said, "Repent, and your wish will come true. Remember, you only have one chance."
After that, the bronze mirror floated back to the altar. A second later, the golden light disappeared, and everything fell silent.
Still kneeling before the altar, Feng Xiyan looked at the bronze mirror, then turned to Tuluo Cheng.
Seeing him in a daze, Feng Xiyan bowed to the bronze mirror before standing.
He then walked over to Tuluo Cheng and said, "Military Advisor Tuluo, you are very fortunate to have witnessed the miracle."
Hearing this, Tuluo Cheng snapped out of his daze. Pushing himself up, he wiped the blood from his lips with his dirty sleeve and looked at the bronze mirror.
After a moment of silence, he weakly said, "So, this is the Feng Army’s god?"
Feng Xiyan shook his head and calmly replied, "This is Heaven—not only the Feng Army’s Heaven, but now your Heaven too."
Tuluo Cheng stared at the bronze mirror for a long time before pushing his body up from the ground. Walking to the altar, he hesitated for a moment, then took three incense sticks.
With trembling hands, he held the incense to the candle flame. Two seconds later, the incense was lit.
Stunned, Tuluo Cheng stood frozen as Feng Xiyan smiled and said, "Welcome to my Feng Army, Tuluo Cheng."
Turning to look at him, Tuluo Cheng’s eyes reddened as he hoarsely asked, "Great General Feng, can you help me avenge my tribesmen?"
Feng Xiyan clasped his fists, bowed to the bronze mirror, then straightened his body and replied solemnly, "As long as Heaven wills this general to help you, this general will do my best to get your revenge."
Listening to Feng Xiyan’s solemn promise, Tuluo Cheng’s tears fell. He nodded, then knelt before the altar and sincerely prayed to Heaven for the first time in three years.
After placing the three incense sticks in the burner, he walked up to Feng Xiyan.
Stopping three steps away, Tuluo Cheng knelt, raised three fingers, and vowed, "Great General, from today onward, this subordinate’s life is yours."
"As long as you help this subordinate get my revenge, this subordinate will climb the mountain of swords and walk across the sea of fire for you. If there is a day you want this subordinate’s life, you are free to take it."
After Tuluo Cheng finished his vow, Feng Xiyan reached out and helped him up.
He then turned to the door and said, "Someone, come."
A soldier soon entered and clasped his fists. "Great General, what are your instructions?"
"Prepare a tent for Military Advisor Tuluo to stay in. Also, inform the kitchen to prepare a hot meal for him," Feng Xiyan ordered.
"Yes, Great General."
After giving the orders, Feng Xiyan looked at Tuluo Cheng and said, "It’s already late. This general will introduce you to the other generals tomorrow morning."
Tuluo Cheng clasped his hands at that and sincerely replied, "Thank you, Great General."
Nodding at him, Feng Xiyan said, "You should get some rest now."
At that, the soldier gestured and said, "Military Advisor Tuluo, please follow this subordinate."
Tuluo Cheng nodded and followed the soldier out of the tent.
Left alone in the commander’s tent, Feng Xiyan walked up to the altar. Standing before it, he thought, ’I wonder why Heaven wants me to help Tuluo Cheng.’
While Feng Xiyan was trying to discern Heaven’s will, Gui Ying had just snuck into the Xiqiang Inn, completely unaware of what had happened in the Feng Army’s barracks.
As if he were walking in his own courtyard, Gui Ying fanned himself slowly while clicking his tongue and commented, "Tsk, this place is so dirty."
Covering his nose with his fan, he frowned slightly and muttered, "Also, what is this unpleasant smell? It smells like a rotten corpse."
After looking around the main hall of Xiqiang Inn, Gui Ying glanced up at the second floor.
Kicking off the ground lightly, he soared into the air and landed gently on the upper level. Counting the rooms, Gui Ying found Ji Hui’s room and walked toward it.
Standing in front of the closed door, Gui Ying closed his eyes and peered into the room using his Heavenly Eyes.
Seeing that the adjutant was sleeping while guarding Ji Hui, the corner of Gui Ying’s lips curved up slightly. Placing his index and middle fingers on the door, he activated the soul-locking technique.
A second later, black-purple threads as thin as cicada wings flew out from his fingers, drifting toward the center of Ji Hui’s forehead.
The moment the threads seeped into Ji Hui’s head and locked onto his soul, Ji Hui frowned and let out a soft groan.
"Ugh..."
Sending his consciousness into Ji Hui’s mind, Gui Ying appeared in his dream. With a ghost mask covering his face, he looked down at Ji Hui, who was kneeling on the cracked ground.
Seeing that Ji Hui’s consciousness had almost disappeared, Gui Ying clicked his tongue and muttered, "What a weakling."
Then, he tapped the center of Ji Hui’s forehead with his index and middle fingers. A second later, black and purple light emerged from his fingertips and seeped into Ji Hui’s forehead.
Retracting his hand, Gui Ying calmly ordered, "Ji Hui, wake up."
The next second, Ji Hui’s soul slowly opened his eyes.
