Chapter 545: Go Act Outside
Chapter 545: Chapter 526: Go Act Outside
Xinghua’s words left Yang Chun thoroughly embarrassed, but Xinghua didn’t feel she’d gone too far. What the Yang Family and Yang Chun had done back then was despicable. For her to have the nerve to show up at their door today was just asking for trouble.
“Brother Liangzi.”
Yang Chun looked at Dong Liang, tears welling in her eyes. She hadn’t expected Xinghua to be so difficult.
Xinghua looked at Dong Liang as well. She was saying all this to stand up for the Dong Family. If Dong Liang showed any pity for Yang Chun, it would mean she had completely misjudged him.
“Xinghua is right. Yang Chun, I once thought of you as my sister, but what you all did back then erased any bond between us. Since we agreed to act like strangers, please don’t come to our home anymore. Let’s just live our own separate lives.”
Dong Liang wasn’t a cruel person. He and Yang Chun had grown up together, but she and her family had long since destroyed that bond. Now, she was just someone he knew. He didn’t know what was going on in her head, but if he did, he would have told her to give up all hope. He would rather stay single his entire life than marry a woman like her.
Xinghua smiled faintly. ‘Dong Liang is a good, straightforward man, but his kindness isn’t without principles. That’s good. I wouldn’t want a man who goes soft just because a woman cries.’
“Exactly! After everything that was said, what are you doing here now? Today is Xinghua’s first visit. Why are you here crying? You’re ruining a perfectly good day and bringing bad luck on us all.”
Wang Qiu grumbled, also displeased. She had been in high spirits today, but Yang Chun had ruined it all.
“Ma’am, Brother Liangzi, I was wrong. I know I was wrong. What I did back then was my fault, but I’ve paid for it! The truth is, I never wanted to do it. Everyone was talking about my family, and my parents felt they had no choice. I never wanted to get married. My heart has always belonged to Brother Liangzi.”
Tears streamed down Yang Chun’s face as she spoke, her gaze fixed pleadingly on Liangzi.
‘This woman is so shameless! She’s been married for almost two years and now she comes here spouting this nonsense.’ Xinghua was so furious she felt an overwhelming urge to slap her.
Dong Liang’s face flushed with a mixture of embarrassment and anger. He had never expected Yang Chun to say something like that.
“Why don’t you say that to your husband’s face? Go tell him you have another man in your heart and see if he doesn’t beat you to a pulp.”
Xinghua sneered at Yang Chun.
“I’d say this to anyone’s face! If my heart wasn’t always with Brother Liangzi, do you think… do you think he would hit me? Brother Liangzi and I grew up together. I’ve always considered myself his. I had to get married back then, otherwise my family would have been shamed into ruin. The truth is, I was always waiting for Brother Liangzi.”
Yang Chun wore an expression of someone who had thrown all caution to the wind.
“Pah! Cut the shameless crap! When were you ever Liangzi’s woman? You think we don’t know the truth? You were pregnant, but you were so reckless you caused your own miscarriage! Your husband beat you for *that*! What are you trying to blame our Liangzi for? A promiscuous woman like you deserves to be beaten! I’m telling you, you say one more thing like that and don’t blame me for getting nasty!”
Wang Qiu spat on the ground and railed at Yang Chun. For Yang Chun to say such things in front of Xinghua… If Xinghua got angry, what would they do? At that moment, Wang Qiu loathed Yang Chun with every fiber of her being.
“Brother Liangzi, you tell them. Am I your woman or not? That one year, when you were home alone, I came to see you. We lay on the bed together… and we… Have you forgotten it all?”
Yang Chun ignored Wang Qiu, directing her question to Dong Liang. She looked as if he was the one who had abandoned her.
Xinghua also looked at Dong Liang. ‘So something like that happened?’ But it was all in the past. She wouldn’t get angry over it, though she still felt a little uncomfortable.
“Yes, I was home alone that day. But when you got on the bed, I sat up. I never lay down with you. What’s more, I never even touched your hand, let alone did anything else! If I did anything inappropriate to you, may lightning strike me dead! I only ever saw you as a little sister. I had no other thoughts. Please stop spouting this nonsense. You may not care about your reputation, but we still have to live our lives!”
Dong Liang hadn’t expected Yang Chun to bring this up, but he explained the situation anyway, afraid Xinghua would misunderstand.
Yang Chun gritted her teeth in anger. From what she knew of Dong Liang, she never thought he would humiliate her so publicly. ‘He must really care about that Xinghua.’
“Have you said enough? Are you finished? Could you be any more shameless? If you’re done talking, then please leave. We need to make dinner. You may not want to eat, but we’re hungry. Stop being an eyesore here.”
Xinghua truly despised people like Yang Chun. ‘You made your choice back then, so don’t come crying with regret now. What is this whole act about? Are you trying to anger me into leaving so you can get together with Dong Liang? You’re a married woman who isn’t even divorced yet. This is absolutely disgraceful.’
“That’s right, hurry up and leave! Don’t waste our time. Just looking at you makes me lose my appetite.”
Wang Qiu also shooed her away. Dong Liang remained silent, but his expression was anything but welcoming.
Yang Chun saw she was outnumbered three to one, and Xinghua, in particular, was not holding back at all. ‘No, I can’t just leave like this. But what can I do?’
An idea formed in Yang Chun’s mind. She started walking out, and as she passed Dong Liang, she planned to fall against him. Then she would hug him, claiming she felt faint and dizzy from grief. If Dong Liang caught her in his arms, that Xinghua woman would definitely get angry. Then, when Xinghua caused a scene, Yang Chun would cling to Dong Liang, drive Xinghua away, and sooner or later, Dong Liang would be hers again.
It was a good plan, but as she fell toward Dong Liang, he instinctively sidestepped. Xinghua’s reaction was even faster. She had been watching Yang Chun closely, wary of another dirty trick. Seeing Yang Chun about to fall on Dong Liang, she shot forward and roughly grabbed the already-toppling woman.
“Feeling unsteady? Need me to help you? Or should I help you sober up?”
Xinghua gripped Yang Chun’s arm tightly, a cold light flashing in her eyes.
Dong Liang was already out of his seat by now, his expression grim. He couldn’t believe Yang Chun would stoop so low.
“Get out! Get out of my house! How can there be a woman as shameless as you? Trying to throw yourself at our Liangzi—you’ve really got some nerve.”
Wang Qiu’s face was terrifyingly dark. She truly hadn’t thought Yang Chun would do something like this. If she had fallen on Dong Liang and rumors started to spread, how could the Dong Family ever show their faces in public again?
Xinghua’s grip was painful, but Yang Chun couldn’t break free. Her plan had failed. She looked to Dong Liang for help, but his gaze was so cold it looked like he wanted to throw her out himself.
“Get out. If you want to put on a show and faint, go faint outside. Don’t dirty our floor.”
Dong Liang didn’t throw her out, so Xinghua did. She dragged Yang Chun to the doorway and gave her a hard shove. Yang Chun stumbled, lost her footing, and fell backward. Just then, Yang Chun’s mother happened to come in. She hadn’t heard anything for a while and had grown worried, so she entered just in time to see her daughter falling. She rushed forward and caught Yang Chun.
