Chapter 357 181: Where From
"If you're not here to take our territory, then what are you doing here?" Liu Xingxing asked, his face full of curiosity.
"It's a long story, and I can't explain it all at once. Instead of saying I'm here to take your territory, it's more accurate to say I'm looking for allies. From the looks of it, you've never left this region, have you? You don't know what's happening outside?" Batubohe asked in return.
At his words, it wasn't just Liu Xingxing who was curious—Li Ziyu and Zhang Peng were intrigued as well. They had only ever stayed in this one area and had never really ventured into other regions. After finding the Wraith Mountain Range, they had practically turned it into their main base, spending a significant amount of time there and exploring even less of the world.
And from what Batubohe was implying, he hadn't just come from some other place—he'd come from one of those "major regions." How could Li Ziyu and the others not be curious?
Compared to many resource-rich areas, the place where Li Ziyu and the others were now was like a remote village with poor transport and no access to information, a stark contrast to a bustling metropolis. The two weren't even in the same league.
"It seems you really don't know. To put it simply, we all come from the same place. We'd best not fight amongst ourselves. We must unite. Only then can we survive." As Batubohe spoke, his expression grew very serious; he had clearly been through an unforgettable experience.
"Brother Batu, where did you come from? Can you tell us about it?" Liu Xingxing asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
As a Treasure Hunter, Liu Xingxing was filled with an adventurous spirit and was incredibly curious about the outside world. But the Otherworld was too dangerous for him to run around recklessly. Without Li Ziyu's protection, it wasn't just other Transmigrators he had to fear—even the Natives could beat him to a pulp.
"Me? I'm from the Central Zone. Well, the Natives call the place I'm from the Central Zone. You've probably heard of it," Batubohe said with a chuckle.
The Central Zone?!
Li Ziyu froze for a moment, then it all clicked. He finally understood why Batubohe's fortress was a higher Level than his and why he commanded so many troops. He was from the bountiful Central Zone. Everything made sense now.
"But isn't the Central Zone supposed to be a great place? Why would you leave and come all the way out here?" Liu Xingxing asked, baffled.
The Central Zone was the best land in the entire Wasteland, rich and abundant in resources. Their area, by contrast, was a poor backwater with scarce resources and fierce competition. Why would anyone abandon the Central Zone to come here?
Even Li Ziyu and Zhang Peng looked at Batubohe, equally perplexed.
"Because I lost. I was chased out of there," Batubohe said with a wry smile, not trying to hide the fact.
He didn't seem embarrassed in the slightest; on the contrary, he spoke with complete frankness. His words, however, made Li Ziyu and the others tense up all over again.
'A failure?'
'Who did he lose to?'
'They could tell Batubohe was powerful. Even if he couldn't dominate the Central Zone, surely he was strong enough to hold his own territory. To think he'd been driven into this poor backwater just to scrape by... that was a bit frightening.'
'And another thing—would there be pursuers?'
'That would be a massive problem. To be able to rout someone like Batubohe, just how strong would his enemies be? Could they defend against them? The chances looked slim.'
"Relax. I didn't lose a fight with other Transmigrators; I lost to the Natives. And they didn't follow me here," Batubohe explained, sensing their thoughts.
Only then did Li Ziyu and the others understand. He must have faced the same situation they were in.
If Batubohe's cavalry hadn't arrived tonight, they probably wouldn't have defeated the Alliance Army and the Demonized Creatures. In that case, their fate would have been the same as his—hunted down like dogs.
'Well, what do you know. I guess that makes us brothers in misfortune, huh?'
Liu Xingxing's gaze toward Batubohe was now filled with sympathy.
