True Apocalypse Game

Chapter 279 264: A Talk

An endless sea of information flooded into Shen Feng's mind. His consciousness entered the Transfer Tower's information transmission system, where it was torn apart like a net.

He first sensed a cloud of golden light appear before his consciousness, and then, as if he were being torn limb from limb, his consciousness was scattered among all the Transfer Towers across the globe.

Mexico, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, London, Moscow, and on and on.

In every city with a population over a million, a Transfer Tower had formed.

These Transfer Towers, varying in size, received signals of different strengths, forming a vast information network.

The signals they received came from the entire Cosmos, from the cosmic microwave background radiation, from unknown spatial rifts, and from other Parallel Cosmoses!

In that instant, Shen Feng's consciousness seemed to become the Cosmos itself. He saw primitive silicon-based lifeforms emerge on planets orbiting their stars at just the right distance. He saw nameless celestial bodies burning fiercely beside the Orion Constellation. He saw C-beams glitter in the darkness of the Don Waisse Gate. He saw a colossal black hole at the center of the galaxy devouring and spewing light. He saw the infinite, dead silence at the end of the universe.

Then, his consciousness ascended once more, rising above the Cosmos to behold a magnificent and strange spectacle.

Information from countless Parallel Cosmoses flashed before his eyes.

A Cosmos filled with beings of pure energy; a Cosmos where a black hole consumed everything; a Cosmos occupied by terrifying, bizarre, and indescribable colossal creatures; a Cosmos crisscrossed by the trails of starships; a Cosmos with only a single, super-giant planet; and on and on.

These strange spectacles nearly made Shen Feng stop thinking, leaving him in a state of profound shock.

But aside from those Cosmoses radiating with various forms of vitality—be it passionate, terrifying, or bizarre—the vast majority of them were simply black.

There was only darkness. No light, no heat. The Cosmos had completely died, leaving not a trace of vitality.

Even time itself had lost all meaning.

These dead Cosmoses were the overwhelming majority. A single glance was enough to make Shen Feng feel as if his own consciousness was being flash-frozen and cast into a silent Hell.

Only death is eternal.

And the countless Parallel Cosmoses were like innumerable overlapping bubbles, or like the infinite, densely packed, and endlessly nested cells of a giant honeycomb!

This information seemed to be drawn in by Shen Feng's consciousness and was simultaneously transmitted to the countless zombies around him.

Just as more Cosmoses were about to be pulled into his consciousness, he abruptly opened his eyes. His biological brain, still sluggish and numb from the alcohol, had not been completely drawn in.

He was drenched in sweat.

He understood that he hadn't actually been dragged into other Parallel Cosmoses; he had merely received information from the Transfer Towers.

This endless stream of information alone had nearly shattered his brain!

If not for the dulling stupor of the alcohol, which prevented his neurons from smoothly receiving the information, his biological brain might have already been cooked by the overload!

He could even feel a searing heat from his Silicon-Based Brain, giving him a splitting headache.

What these Transfer Towers were receiving wasn't just information from this Cosmos, but information from endless Parallel Cosmoses!

'Why does the Master of the Void want to receive all this information?'

'What is it trying to do?'

Shen Feng pondered for a few seconds, then closed his eyes again. He began to cautiously control his consciousness, trying to feel the information being released by the Transfer Tower.

This time, his thought signal was shot out like a marble!

He could feel his thought signal transforming into an extremely complex set of numbers, which seemed to designate a coordinate.

This was no three-dimensional coordinate, but a five-dimensional one that used several massive Parallel Cosmoses as its frame of reference!

Besides its position within this Cosmos, the coordinate also included a temporal coordinate and a coordinate for the dimension this Cosmos occupied!

The meaning contained within was far too complex for him to comprehend in his current state.

In the next moment, Shen Feng had already withdrawn his consciousness, grounding himself in the tangible sensations of his surroundings.

The way the Transfer Tower tore at his consciousness was simply too intense. A few more seconds, and he might have been lost in it forever, becoming just another part of the tower.

He now finally understood the basic purpose of these Transfer Towers:

To receive endless information from Parallel Cosmoses, and simultaneously, to broadcast Earth's coordinates to specific locations and times!

'What in the world is the Master of the Void doing?'

'Why receive information from other Parallel Cosmoses?'

'And for what purpose is it broadcasting Earth's coordinates?'

'A welcoming banquet? A hunter's trap?'

'Or perhaps, a lonely search?'

During the information transfer, Shen Feng had also realized that receiving and transmitting these signals was the main purpose of the entire Transfer Tower system on Earth. Controlling the zombies through the Consciousness Field was merely a secondary function.

In other words, the Transfer Towers were like control centers, and the zombies with their mutated brains were like miniature base stations or signal emitters.

As for the Symbiotes that had developed consciousness, they were more like bugs or viruses that had emerged during the operation of this base station system.

In a way, it was all rather tragic.

Outside the Transfer Tower, the Symbiotes' desperate struggle continued, but more and more of their bodies were being absorbed into the tower.
