True Apocalypse Game

Chapter 276 - 261: Transfer Tower

After dissecting so many zombie brains and studying the virus’s characteristics, Shen Feng could be considered an absolute expert on zombie brain structure and the Evil Spirit Virus.

Insulating the information exchange between his Silicon-Based Brain and his biological brain, while using the Silicon-Based Brain to simulate a zombie brain’s signal reception and transmission patterns, was not a difficult task for him.

In a way, the deeply mutated brains of zombies were surprisingly similar to a Silicon-Based Brain. Both could receive and transmit information, far surpassing the capabilities of a normal human’s biological brain in this regard.

He had currently suspended some of his Silicon-Based Brain’s functions, leaving only the basics active to receive control signals from the Hannibal Symbiote. He allowed his body to be completely controlled by these signals, making him a true member of the Hannibal Symbiote.

Meanwhile, his own primary consciousness silently observed his body’s actions and changes from a bystander’s perspective.

’Becoming your own enemy... This is the deepest form of infiltration. It’s a truly bizarre feeling.’

Unless Shen Feng chose to reveal himself, the Hannibal Symbiote would never discover his presence, as his body was now under its complete control.

It was like a person being unable to detect a virus existing within their own bones.

Under the Hannibal Symbiote’s control, Shen Feng’s body arrived on a dilapidated street. There were still signs of explosions, and a burnt-out, abandoned tank sat by the roadside, suggesting a fierce battle had once taken place here.

He and the zombies around him shambled onward. Just as they passed the tank, a shrill cry suddenly echoed from the street ahead, like thousands of people screaming at once:

"Hannibal! You’ve crossed the line! Are you trying to start a war!"

Then, from the buildings ahead, zombies began to slowly emerge.

The zombies varied in appearance, but every single one of their faces was contorted in anger.

A Consciousness Field, slightly weaker than Hannibal’s, spread out and enveloped Shen Feng and the zombies around him.

It was another Symbiote.

"Chuck!" Shen Feng shouted, following the command issued by the Hannibal Symbiote. All around him, the other zombies of the Hannibal Symbiote screamed the name in unison. The hoarse cries of nearly ten thousand zombies sounded bizarre and frenzied.

This was the will of the Symbiote.

"So you really were hiding here! Heh heh..." the Hannibal Symbiote said. "Crossed the line? Since when did this world have boundaries? The Divine Apostle is about to awaken, and you’re still hiding here. Are you just going to wait for him to turn you back into an electronic component?"

On the street ahead, several thousand zombies emerged from the buildings on both sides. Some held clubs, knives, and guns, though they clearly couldn’t control them with any precision and just clutched them in their hands.

The thousands of zombies spoke in unison:

"The will of the Divine Apostle is irresistible. All we can do is await his judgment—grant us freedom, or grant us death. That is all. Do you really intend to resist the Divine Apostle?"

The Hannibal Symbiote laughed grimly.

"I wouldn’t call it ’resistance,’ but what must be done, must be done. Perhaps I can seize control of the Transfer Tower in Mexico City and become the new Divine Apostle."

The thousands of zombies belonging to the Chuck Symbiote fell silent, as if considering the Hannibal Symbiote’s words. After a moment, they replied:

"What do you propose? We are both collective wills born from zombies. We should understand how insignificant we are before a tide of a billion corpses..."

It, too, was tempted.

The Hannibal Symbiote’s zombies slowly advanced as its massive Consciousness Field merged with the Chuck Symbiote’s. It spoke in a low voice:

"Naturally, we fight for our own survival. But not ’our’ survival... *my* survival!"

The moment it finished speaking, the Hannibal Symbiote’s constituent zombies let out frenzied roars. They brandished sharp weapons and stabbed at the eyes and ears of the Chuck Symbiote’s zombies, aiming to destroy their brains!

Or they opened their cavernous mouths and viciously tore at their opponents’ necks, sinking their teeth into the cervical vertebrae to rip their heads off.

At the same time, the Hannibal Symbiote’s Consciousness Field began to crazily ramp up its power, suppressing the opposing field.

Shen Feng let his body be controlled, pouncing on a zombie. He grabbed a piece of rebar from the ground and began to furiously bash the zombie’s head in.

The Chuck Symbiote wasn’t completely unprepared. It also let out a crazed roar and began a vicious fight.

Dozens of the zombies under its control even raised the guns in their hands and began firing at close range.

They had no precise aim, but at this distance, it was enough.

Zombie after zombie attacked each other manically. The street became a scene of utter chaos. The battle between the two powerful Symbiotes looked more like a chaotic-era gang war.

The zombies grappled like wild beasts, resorting to any means necessary. Severed limbs flew through the air, and the scene was both brutal and bloody.

After all, the Hannibal Symbiote had come prepared and was larger in scale. Ganging up on their opponents, they quickly gained the upper hand. In the blink of an eye, the Chuck Symbiote had lost nearly half of its zombies.

The Chuck Symbiote finally began to retreat. But as its constituent bodies reached the end of the street, a thousand of the Hannibal Symbiote’s zombies, who had long been lying in ambush, sprang out. They threw fishing nets and ropes, tying up the fleeing zombies of the Chuck Symbiote like they were trussing turkeys.

Then, the Hannibal Symbiote’s Consciousness Field began to furiously assault the brains of the Chuck Symbiote’s zombies, bombarding them with a massive stream of information.

At first, the Chuck Symbiote offered some futile resistance, but in the end, its defenses collapsed completely.

About an hour later, the zombies of the Chuck Symbiote had been completely assimilated by the Hannibal Symbiote. The unique Consciousness Field from before had vanished, leaving only a new, more powerful Hannibal Symbiote Consciousness Field.

Shen Feng also "captured" a hostile zombie from the Chuck Symbiote and, under the Hannibal Symbiote’s control, assimilated its consciousness.

Through this battle and assimilation, the Hannibal Symbiote’s scale expanded once more, its number of constituent bodies reaching over thirteen thousand.

The losses incurred while hunting the Angie Symbiote were completely recouped. In fact, it was now even stronger, which greatly pleased the Hannibal Symbiote’s consciousness.

Shen Feng could even feel the heartfelt joy emanating from the massive consciousness.

’It’s just that its combat style has devolved into simple zombie brawling,’ Shen Feng thought. ’Even though I know it’s doing this to absorb more zombies into the Symbiote, it still feels a bit... low-class.’

The Symbiote, now composed of thirteen thousand zombies, continued its advance in search of new prey.

During this process, whenever it encountered the occasional living survivor, the Hannibal Symbiote would kill them on the spot without the slightest hesitation.

Apparently, it had no intention of offering any living sacrifices to the Divine Apostle.

Several days passed quickly. The Hannibal Symbiote successively assimilated more than a dozen Symbiotes of various sizes, its scale swelling to nearly thirty thousand.

As it moved through Mexico City, it resembled a grand parade.

While the Hannibal Symbiote was devouring and expanding, similar battles were taking place in other parts of Mexico City.

The other Symbiotes were also attacking one another.

The Divine Apostle was about to reawaken, and the Transfer Tower would soon be operational again. To preserve their free will and survive the coming cataclysm, they had to accumulate power as quickly as possible!

「Early one morning a few days later」

The sky was overcast, and a light drizzle was falling. After resting for a night, the Hannibal Symbiote once again arrived at a street corner near the center of Mexico City.

Thirty thousand zombies were scattered throughout the street like a swarm of black ants, all looking toward the Transfer Tower that soared into the clouds.

Shen Feng, wearing a hood and mask, hid among the Hannibal Symbiote’s ranks and also looked toward the Transfer Tower.

Unlike its previous drooping, crooked state, the Transfer Tower now stood completely upright, trembling rhythmically as if it were a living creature.

The ring of eyes on it flashed incessantly, scanning every corner of Mexico City.

At this moment, many of those eyes were staring at the Hannibal Symbiote.

At the same time, four other hordes of corpses swarmed into the corresponding streets of the city center, bringing powerful Consciousness Fields with them.

The largest of these hordes numbered fifty thousand zombies, while the smallest had twenty thousand.

Including Hannibal, these were the five most powerful Symbiotes currently existing in Mexico City.

At this moment, they all raised their heads, staring at the Transfer Tower that soared into the clouds.

Their gazes were filled with hatred.
