True Apocalypse Game

Chapter 252 - 240: Spider Nest City

The two plagues that nearly destroyed the world were eventually brought under control through global cooperation, but the immense power displayed by the Stone Statue Virus and the Evil Spirit Virus also attracted the greedy attention of many interested parties.

In particular, various national militaries and violent criminal organizations began to study the two viruses, hoping to derive some new toys from them.

Perhaps some serums that granted powerful abilities, or maybe some entirely new special viruses, and so on.

However, after the plagues, all countries had sealed off the quarantine zones and incinerated the bodies of the infected, so obtaining samples of the two viruses was no easy task.

On the international black market, where Bitcoin was the main currency, the prices for the Stone Statue Virus and Evil Spirit Virus skyrocketed. They briefly became the most expensive viruses on the black market, surpassing other dangerous ones like Ebola to become the new darlings of the virus world.

Among them, the price of the Stone Statue Virus was many times higher than that of the Evil Spirit Virus.

After all, the Evil Spirit Virus had previously had a massive global outbreak, with numerous infected individuals and their corpses in the East Japan and New York quarantine zones alone.

Although a relatively strict deactivation process was ultimately carried out, it was still quite simple to bribe some relevant personnel to obtain zombie tissue samples and, subsequently, the virus.

The Stone Statue Virus was different. It had only had one large-scale outbreak in a small town in Alaska, while other outbreak sites had very few infections. Therefore, it was comparatively much rarer.

Fortunately, both viruses shared a characteristic: they were extremely resilient and easy to preserve. Otherwise, things would have been even more troublesome.

Hearing the hooded man’s words, Igo glanced at him, then turned and walked to a freezer. He took out two sealed glass vials from inside and handed them to the man.

The vial on the left contained a severed finger. The vial on the right also contained a severed finger, but this one was petrified.

"The Evil Spirit Virus tissue sample on the left is twenty thousand US Dollars. The Stone Statue Virus tissue sample on the right is one hundred thousand US Dollars. Thank you for your business... I only accept Bitcoin or US Dollar cash. Also, I need to see your passport."

The hooded man took the two glass vials and examined them carefully. After confirming they were authentic, he nodded and said:

"Alright. The money has been transferred to your account."

At the same time, he took out a passport and flashed it open in front of Igo.

He then stuffed the vials into his backpack and turned to walk out.

Igo checked his account and nodded. He hadn’t expected the man to be so decisive.

He then shot a look at a few men in the distance and asked curiously:

"Can I ask something? What are you buying this stuff for? Vaccines and Healing Potions have already been developed, so these two viruses are basically useless. Are you trying to cultivate a new virus?"

As a doctor who performed illegal organ transplants in Mexico City, he had received all sorts of strange requests, but this was the first time someone had come to buy the Stone Statue Virus and Evil Spirit Virus. He couldn’t help but ask.

The man replied without turning his head:

"I’m going to see which of these two viruses is stronger. Let them have a fight."

With that, he had already reached the doorway.

Igo shrugged and snorted coldly. ’What a freak... Too bad you won’t get the chance.’

The moment the thought crossed his mind, several large men with spider tattoos suddenly appeared at the door, blocking the hooded man’s path.

The man in the lead, who wore sunglasses and had a handlebar mustache, said grimly:

"Our boss wants a word with you. You’re coming with us."

The hooded man was taken aback for a moment, then suddenly grinned. Looking at the man’s spider tattoo, he nodded and said:

"Alright. And who is your boss?"

"You’ll find out when we get there," the man with the mustache said coldly, simultaneously pulling out a Colt pistol from his waistband and pressing it into the hooded man’s side.

The hooded man pursed his lips and raised his hands. Sandwiched between the men, he was led toward the back of the hospital.

Igo, the hospital’s chief surgeon, also walked alongside the hooded man, occasionally sizing up his physique, paying special attention to his heart and kidney areas with a look of great satisfaction.

"Mr. Igo, as the hospital’s attending physician, can you tell me who we’re going to see?"

Igo corrected him with a deadpan expression:

"First of all, I’m not an attending physician. I’m just the chief surgeon, responsible for removing organs, not for any damned treatment... We are now going to see a confidant of Mr. Guzman, the leader of the Sinaloa Group. His name is ’Fatty’ Cole."

The hooded man nodded, putting on a look of childlike curiosity, and asked:

"I just came here to buy a virus. Why do I need to see this Mr. Cole?"

Igo smiled faintly and patted the hooded man’s shoulder.

"Mr. Cole is extremely obese and has a bad heart. He currently needs a healthy one, and you are very healthy... Of course, we’ll have to check for a match first."

To his surprise, the hooded man showed no sign of panic and calmly said:

"I’m an Eagle Country citizen. If I go missing in Mexico, it will attract the attention of the Eagle Country Government."

"Hahaha!" The mustached man with the spider tattoo laughed heartily. "Who do you think you are, Enrique Chichi Camarique? Your current President wishes everyone who comes to Mexico would just disappear. If you go missing here, he’ll just think you deserved it!"

In February 1985, Eagle Country DEA agent "Chichi" was kidnapped off the street. A month later, he was found tortured to death by a Mexican drug cartel.

The Eagle Country Government immediately launched a strong counterattack. In 1988, Eagle Army Special Forces infiltrated Honduras and captured the chief liaison between a Mexican drug trafficker and a Columbian Drug Lord. At the same time, they continuously pressured the Mexican government, forcing them to arrest the three leaders of the Guadalajara Cartel: Miguel Felix, Rafael Caro, and Orestes Fonseca. This ultimately led to the downfall of Mexico’s first-generation drug cartel.

"Is that so..." The hooded man shrugged and chuckled along with them.

Seeing this man who was about to have his heart harvested remain completely calm, the mustached man with the spider tattoo burst out laughing and said to his companion:

"Is this Eagle Country guy high on something?"

His companion chuckled sinisterly and said:

"Who knows? Eagle Country people are our customers, after all. Maybe this kid’s using our own product."

The group chatted idly as they entered an elevator and soon arrived on the third floor of the hospital.

The entire third floor was empty except for a few scantily clad female nurses; there were no other patients or doctors.

Inside the only room, a huge private suite, a fat man weighing well over a hundred kilograms was lying on the bed, breathing through an oxygen mask and watching the news on TV.

The news was reporting on recent shootouts within Mexico, followed by a special report about a police officer involved in the recent arrest of Guzman’s son. The officer had been killed in an act of revenge, shot more than 150 times in his car.

The fat man ripped off his oxygen mask, took a drag from a cigar, and cursed with a laugh:

"Hahaha, those rotten cops! They actually dared to declare war on the Sinaloa Group. A bunch of idiots. We can celebrate the Day of the Dead for them next year."

He then turned his head to Igo and asked:

"Is this the donor you found?"

Igo quickly replied:

"That’s right, Mr. Cole. See? He’s quite strong, isn’t he? I’ve already checked his passport, and his blood type matches yours. If you’re satisfied, we can run the tests on him now and then schedule the surgery."

Cole tilted his head, looked at the hooded man, and gave a sinister smile.

"Not bad. Does this mean I’ll have an Eagle Country heart from now on?"

He then sat up straight and, with a serious expression, mimicked the Eagle Country President:

"Nobody knows more about heart transplant surgery than me... Let’s make Eagle Country great again! Hahahahahahahaha..."

Everyone present, including the hooded man, immediately burst into uproarious laughter.

The hooded man, who was about to have his heart harvested, laughed the hardest of them all, almost to the point of tears. Pointing at Cole on the hospital bed, he said in Chinese:

"That’s uncanny! A perfect impression of Trump, the man who’s making China great again! Hahahahaha..."

The people around him were stunned. They couldn’t understand what the man was saying and were completely bewildered by his hysterical laughter.

He didn’t look at all like a man who was about to die.

The mustached man with the spider tattoo frowned and barked:

"You Eagle Country piece of shit, what are you saying? Is that Japanese? Why are you laughing!?"

Cole also looked at Igo, confused.

’Did they find me an idiot for a donor?’

Igo quickly explained:

"Mr. Cole, he just came to buy the Stone Statue and Evil Spirit viruses, and he already paid in full. He might be a little slow, but his heart won’t be affected by his intelligence. There’s absolutely no problem."

"Then hurry up and get him tested," Cole said, waving his hand impatiently.

He desperately needed this healthy heart. Otherwise, being surrounded by so many hot-bodied nurses without being able to perform was driving him mad.

Several men, including the mustached one with the spider tattoo, immediately moved forward and grabbed the hooded man’s shoulders, intending to drag him into the adjacent examination room.

But then they discovered that their hands felt as if they were pressing against a block of iron. The man didn’t budge an inch!

The hooded man had now wiped the smile from his face. He scanned his surroundings with a blank expression and said:

"Where is Cthulhu? Have him come out."

"What the hell? Is this kid really a retard?" the mustached man blurted out, stunned. "How is he so strong?"

The hooded man sighed and said:

"So you guys really are just an illegal organ transplant ring controlled by the Sinaloa Group? Not from the Purification Society? To think I wasted so much time with you just because I saw a spider tattoo..."

Cole frowned. "What are you doing! Get him already!"

The mustached man and the others immediately tried again, attempting to lift the hooded man, but he remained completely immobile, as if cast from iron.

Suddenly, the mustached man let out a bloodcurdling scream. His hands had begun to disintegrate and vanish like ash, and the effect was rapidly spreading up his body!

It wasn’t just him; the same thing was happening to everyone around him!

Even Cole, lying on the hospital bed, screamed in agony as his skin began to rapidly turn to ash and disintegrate. In the blink of an eye, he was reduced to an anatomical model, then a skeleton, and then he vanished completely!

In less than a minute, everyone except Igo had simply disappeared, leaving behind only tide-like pools of gray matter on the floor!

His mind went completely blank. He collapsed to the floor, trembling as he stared at the hooded man, unable to comprehend who—or what—this person was.

Then he heard the hooded man ask, his voice devoid of any emotion:

"Mr. Igo, I’d like to ask, is there anything in Mexico related to spiders? For instance, any garbage gangs or corporations named after spiders, or maybe an assassin called Spider?"

"Spi... Spiders..." Igo now understood that they had provoked someone they never should have. He frantically racked his brain for anything relevant but couldn’t think of anything, sweat pouring down his face like rain.

Just then, the Spanish-language news report on the television continued:

"A sinkhole has opened up in the western district of Mexico City, revealing the ruins of an ancient city from the Aztec Civilization. According to archaeologists, this city is the legendary Spider Nest City of the ancient Aztecs..."
