Chapter 263 - 229: Saint Heir (3)
The crucial thing was that even Qin Shen, with his sensitive perception, hadn’t noticed a thing. This person’s abilities had to be incredibly, incredibly strong.
Just like the Laina Holy Mother, perhaps he also had the ability to monitor them. That would explain how he could create a barrier wall specifically to block them.
Jiang Si swung her arm, and the barrier wall shattered once more. She roared in frustration, "Get the hell out here!"
The only response was empty air, as if she had been talking to herself the entire time.
This feeling of helpless frustration was simply agonizing.
Jiang Si clenched her fists tightly. ’I refuse to believe this person’s power won’t run out eventually.’
But when she tried to pull another helicopter out of her dimensional space, a fresh wave of bitter anger washed over her. Back at the Holy Mother Base, she had taken out most of her supplies, only for them to be sucked away to some unknown location by the black hole.
Now, she had no helicopters left in her space, only ground vehicles.
Seeing the look on her face, Qin Shen immediately gripped her by the shoulders, stressing, "Calm down. You need to calm down."
If Jiang Si lost control, she’d be playing right into the hands of whoever was behind this.
Jiang Linhai’s heart was gripped with anxiety. Shen Baoying and the others had run into someone this powerful. Still, he said to Jiang Si, "Don’t worry. I’m sure everyone will be alright."
Reassured by the others, Jiang Si gradually calmed down.
Suddenly, Kilton thought of someone. "Have you by any chance met the Saint Heir?" he asked Jiang Si.
Jiang Si’s brow furrowed. "From the Holy Mother Base, too?"
Kilton nodded, a fearful look in his eyes. "I’ve only ever heard of the Saint Heir. He’s immensely powerful. They say he has three eyes and can peer into all of creation. No one’s wicked or impure thoughts can escape his sight."
’Not only can he monitor us in real time, but he can also read minds and erect powerful Barriers. He really is formidable.’
’But we never saw this guy show up back at the Holy Mother Base.’
’Could he have just emerged, only to be transported away by the black hole?’
’Or maybe he and the Holy Mother didn’t get along, and he just used my hand to eliminate her.’
For the moment, Jiang Si couldn’t think of any other explanations besides those two.
Wishing she could drag the bastard out of whatever sewer he was hiding in, Jiang Si asked, "What else do you know about him?"
Kilton shook his head, then added abruptly, "I heard Bai Hezi mention the Saint Heir once. He’s always completely covered from head to toe. Maybe he’s afraid of the sun?"
’The Saint Heir is afraid of sunlight. A true sewer rat who can’t bear to be seen.’
Jiang Si looked up at the sky. Sooner or later, she would drag him out into the open.
Suddenly, Jiang Si recalled the Laina Holy Mother’s ability to control other superpower users. ’Perhaps that’s why this Saint Heir wanted the Holy Mother dead.’
Jiang Si and the others got back into the SUV and set off again. At this rate, it would take them eight or nine days to drive to Mei Na’s location.
Jiang Si got in the vehicle. This time, no barrier wall appeared.
’Maybe his power isn’t so limitless after all.’
Everyone took turns driving.
「Overnight」
Jiang Si’s consciousness finally entered Mei Na’s body again.
When she opened her eyes, she saw a middle-aged woman, coughing incessantly, her eyes filled with exhaustion.
Behind her stood a dozen or so other men and women, all of them looking equally frail.
Huang Lijuan saw her wake up. She coughed twice before managing to speak, her voice strained. "You’re awake. Would you like some water?"
Jiang Si was confused. ’Wasn’t I with the snow wolf? How did I end up here?’
But this woman was a fellow countrywoman, which gave Jiang Si a sense of trust. She nodded and opened her mouth to ask, "Thank you. How did you all rescue me?"
The moment she spoke, she realized Mei Na’s throat felt like it was being cut by a knife, a searing, fiery pain.
’It feels like Mei Na has a cold.’
’But it’s unlikely everyone here has a cold. Could it be a viral flu?’
Jiang Si’s brow furrowed. As she carefully observed Huang Lijuan’s condition, she realized it was a real possibility.
In a post-apocalyptic world with no medicine, a viral flu could easily be a death sentence.
What’s more, this was likely a strengthened strain of viral flu.
They needed medicine and vaccines, or a superpower user with healing abilities had to get here to treat them.
Otherwise, Mei Na would likely succumb before they could arrive.
After drinking the hot water, Jiang Si prepared to leave Mei Na’s body and try to use the black hole to teleport to her location.
Suddenly, she heard Huang Lijuan jump to her feet in a panic, shielding her young daughter.
Jiang Si followed their gaze and saw the snow wolf from before. It had returned, and it dropped a snow snake it was carrying not far from her.
Then, she saw Huang Lijuan staring at her in astonishment, a look of clear suspicion on her face, as if asking whether she knew the wolf.
Jiang Si nodded. "He’s my wolf. He doesn’t bite good people. Don’t worry."
But how could they not worry? All they had were melee weapons, and they were all sick. If the wolf suddenly attacked, how could they possibly fight back against such a massive snow wolf?
