Chapter 232 - 219: Fly Quickly
BAM—
Dai Mao was sent flying. Jiang Si’s vision blurred; she could even see his feathers scattering against the sky.
Dai Mao was a vain creature; he’d go to the beach just to show off and compete with the other males.
In a flash of rage, Jiang Si clenched her fists. Her pupils contracted, and a powerful force erupted violently within her.
Feeling a furious, boundless energy with nowhere to go, Jiang Si fixed her gaze on the giant python’s head. A powerful Energy Ball, crackling with electricity, instantly materialized in her palm. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!—
The giant python abruptly exploded into a gory, mangled mess.
The earth-shattering tremor nearly knocked Bailiman off her feet.
Anxiously, she scanned the heap of gore for Jiang Si and Aisar. A moment later, she saw Jiang Si walking slowly toward her, carrying Aisar in her arms.
A look of delighted surprise filled Bailiman’s eyes. She hurried over to meet them, but the moment she took Aisar, she sensed something was terribly wrong with Jiang Si’s expression. She looked like a soulless puppet, her movements controlled by another.
The moment she reached out to touch Jiang Si, Jiang Si flew away.
That’s right—she flew. Jiang Si’s feet were hovering above the ground.
It was as if everything around her was parting to make way.
Bailiman tried to call out to Jiang Si, but all that escaped her lips was a strangled, whimpering sound.
The last vestiges of Jiang Si’s sanity fought for control. One moment she was lucid, the next she was consumed by the urge to unleash the roiling energy within her.
It was as if she were desperately fighting for control of her own body.
In a moment of lucidity, Jiang Si managed to move to Dai Mao’s side.
She reached out, intending to heal him.
But Dai Mao showed no signs of life.
The giant python’s last strike had claimed his life.
Though they had only known each other for a few short days, Dai Mao’s willingness to sacrifice his life to save her had already made him incredibly important to Jiang Si.
As she fought for control, she managed to look inward, sensing the energy stone within her.
The moment her will solidified, the multicolored Superpower Stone suddenly split. A fragment broke off and flew into her hand.
Jiang Si instantly realized that this piece of the Superpower Stone might be able to revive Dai Mao.
Jiang Si fed the fragment to Dai Mao. A brilliant light flashed from within his body. Soon, new feathers began to sprout at a visible rate. His body instantly grew larger and stronger. And though his heart hadn’t started beating again, he opened his eyes.
A look of joy flashed in Jiang Si’s eyes. But in the next instant, as her concentration lapsed, her consciousness completely faded away.
She rose to her feet, her expression vacant. Raising a hand, she brought it down, and the very ground split open with tremendous force, a huge fissure racing straight toward the volcano.
In that instant, it was an apocalypse. The earth shook, the mountains swayed, and for a moment, it seemed as if heaven and earth themselves were in the palm of Jiang Si’s hand.
Bailiman clutched her unconscious daughter, utterly terrified.
Jiang Si’s power was so immense she no longer seemed human.
She was more like a demon god bursting forth from the depths of hell.
A wave of satisfaction washed over Jiang Si as she vented her power. The next second, she raised her hand again—like a mountain-cleaving axe—and slammed her palm onto the ground.
Another fissure, even wider than the last, tore through the earth toward the steaming, rumbling volcano.
Vultures circled high above the island, their panicked cries piercing the air.
In that same instant, swarms of snakes desperately slithered toward the sea.
They paid no mind to Bailiman and Aisar, not even thinking of attacking. It was as if they knew that if they didn’t flee now, they would never leave the volcanic island.
RUMBLE—
The volcano let out a deafening roar, seemingly on the verge of erupting at any moment.
Bailiman frantically shook Aisar awake while pushing the half-finished raft Jiang Si had been building into the sea.
Discovering he could fly, Dai Mao shot into the sky with a SWOOSH. He glanced down at Jiang Si, who stood motionless, and then flew back down.
After unleashing her power, Jiang Si collapsed heavily to the ground with a THUD.
Bailiman hesitated for a second, then gritted her teeth, ran back to Jiang Si, and helped her onto the raft.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to escape on Dai Mao’s back. But neither she nor her daughter knew how to ride a Vulture, and with Jiang Si unconscious, a single wrong move would send them falling.
The raft was their only option.
RUMBLE—
The volcano was truly erupting. Fire and lava burst forth, filling the sky with a deadly spray.
Dai Mao spread his enormous wings, shielding Jiang Si and the others from the lava, while Bailiman and Aisar paddled furiously.
But they were no match for the speed of the advancing lava flow.
Moreover, the eruption was causing tectonic shifts, stirring the sea into a frenzy of monstrous waves.
Just like the tide of snakes in the water, the colossal waves threw them back onto the shore.
