Chapter 231 - 219: Fly Fast
The instant the giant python’s coils tightened around her, a suffocating pressure clamped down on Jiang Si’s neck. Her entire body felt as if it were about to be crushed.
She summoned the last of her strength, drew the dagger from her waist, and threw it with perfect accuracy. It struck the giant python’s eye in a single motion.
The giant python shrieked in pain, letting out an earth-shattering roar. Its coils slackened, and Jiang Si and the others were released.
The moment Jiang Si hit the ground, she snatched the axe from the dirt and swung it viciously at the snake’s tail.
The python let out another furious roar. Its cold eyes locked onto Jiang Si, filled with a terrifying hatred, as if it wanted to tear her limb from limb.
Jiang Si had seen her share of monsters even more terrifying than this python. The greater the danger, the calmer she became.
Both the dagger and the axe could be thrown one last time.
Hitting its eyes wouldn’t do much. Snakes primarily relied on their forked tongues to detect scent particles in the air and their heat-sensing pits to perceive thermal energy, forming a mental image of their prey.
The most effective attack would be a precise strike to the python’s vital spot.
’But this python is massive. Even if I could get on top of it, I’d probably be thrown off and devoured after just a few strikes.’
Jiang Si’s gaze shifted to the space beneath the snake’s belly. Her only submachine gun was pinned there.
It had slipped from her grasp earlier. Getting it now would be incredibly difficult.
Bailiman and Aisar gestured for Jiang Si to run while they lured the python away.
’This python has its sights locked on me. There’s no way I can escape.’
A surge of anxiety hit Jiang Si. She tightened her grip on the axe, deciding to fight this thing head-on.
’Besides, this python isn’t venomous. A bite won’t kill me. One of us is going down, and it’s going to be it.’
Jiang Si raised her axe, gritted her teeth, and charged the python, yelling to Bailiman and Aisar, "Run!"
’They’ll only be a distraction if they stay here.’
The python opened its massive maw, attempting to swallow Jiang Si whole.
But Jiang Si was no pushover. Before her axe even fell, a dagger flew from her hand and buried itself deep in the python’s throat.
Shrieking in pain, the python thrashed on the ground. Its massive convulsions shook the earth like a series of tremors.
Utterly fearless, Jiang Si seized the opportunity, running up the snake’s thrashing body to deliver a fatal blow.
Bailiman and Aisar saw its tail whipping toward Jiang Si. They tried to cry out a warning, but the rasping sounds from their tongueless mouths were completely drowned out by the python’s thrashing.
Just as the axe in Jiang Si’s hand was about to strike the python’s vital spot, its tail lashed out at her with lightning speed.
By the time Jiang Si tried to dodge, it was already too late.
But in the next instant, something astonishing happened.
Dai Mao suddenly leapt up and viciously pecked the snake’s tail.
The python, about to strike her, instantly redirected its attack toward Dai Mao.
Dai Mao’s sharp beak was only able to inflict a superficial scratch on the python’s thick tail.
It snatched Dai Mao up in its tail, flung him violently against a tree, and with a sickening SMACK, seemed to smash all of his internal organs to bits.
Jiang Si watched Dai Mao fall limply to the ground. The wooden splint she had fashioned for his wing had shattered into two pieces, and with it, her hope of leaving the island.
Rage roared through her. With a blazing glare, Jiang Si raised her axe again and swung it viciously at the python’s chest.
But the python, recovering, was now fully on guard.
Before her axe could land, the python’s body coiled tightly around her once more.
Jiang Si instantly felt a suffocating pressure even more terrifying than before, and her grip on the axe began to fail.
’But she had fought so hard to survive this long. She had people who loved her, and people she loved. How could she be willing to die now?’
As Jiang Si struggled desperately, Bailiman and Aisar grabbed rocks and began pelting the python, trying to divert its attention.
The python’s attention was indeed diverted for a moment, but it quickly tightened its coils again, intent on swallowing Jiang Si before dealing with anything else.
Veins bulged on Jiang Si’s forehead. Suddenly, Aisar rushed forward and viciously stabbed a sharp piece of wood deep into the python’s body.
As the python writhed in pain, Jiang Si was able to gasp for breath. Reacting instantly, she slashed through the snake’s skin with a backhanded swing of her axe.
Thoroughly enraged, the python coiled around Aisar, trapping her as well.
Meanwhile, the rocks Bailiman kept throwing had no effect on it whatsoever.
Just as Jiang Si’s vision started to blur, Dai Mao slowly opened his eyes. He forced his battered body upright and raked the snake’s coils with his sharp talons.
