Chapter 236 - 166: Lin Jiang Takes the Stage
He couldn’t push his own ideas through, but he could still veto Li Wuyang and Zhou Jin.
And so, they remained at a stalemate, with no one able to gain the upper hand.
"This meeting has been going on for an hour," Qin Zhengqing announced. "Let’s take a ten-minute break before we continue."
The atmosphere in the room relaxed. Li Wuyang and Zhou Jin approached Qin Zhengqing, putting on a show of humility as they presented their ideas.
Dealing with two juniors was a simple matter for Qin Zhengqing. He handled them with ease and sent them on their way.
"Yangyang," Li Wuyang said, "Uncle Qin is my elder, so I’m not really in a position to discuss these matters with him. But since you’re also a vice president here, when might you have some time? We could chat about this. We’re peers, so we probably think along the same lines. We might even be able to reach a consensus."
"I only hold a nominal position here; I’m not in charge of any specific operations. There’s no need for us to have dinner."
"Don’t be so quick to refuse. I’m only asking you to dinner for the sake of the company’s business and its future. Zhou Jin asks me out all the time; we’ve already had dinner several times and have talked this over quite a bit. Since our opinions are divided, we can’t just let this stalemate continue, can we?"
Qin Yangyang tilted her head slightly, her gaze raking over Li Wuyang in a top-down appraisal. The faint mockery in her expression made him squirm.
"Don’t bother trying those little tricks on me. It’s really quite childish."
Li Wuyang had always considered himself a master of subtlety, so being called childish by Qin Yangyang nearly shattered his confidence.
It was like telling a man he was short, poor, and ugly—he might feel sad. But telling him he was impotent could drive him straight into depression.
This comparison was a perfect fit for Li Wuyang.
He knew Qin Yangyang’s personality and had long been trying to attract her by showing off his mature side.
In the end, not only had he failed to attract her, but he’d also been slapped with the "childish" label. The smile vanished from his face.
"Fine. If you don’t want to have dinner, I won’t insist. Zhou Jin and I can settle this matter on our own."
With that, Li Wuyang returned to his seat, his expression grim. He was like a pouting child, saying nothing, his emotions written all over his face.
Qin Zhengqing saw the whole exchange and shook his head in disapproval.
Composing himself, Qin Zhengqing returned to his seat.
"Alright, let’s resume the meeting. The matter has become urgent. We must reach a consensus on our development strategy."
"President Qin, I have something I’d like to say."
"Go ahead."
"If everyone continues to insist on their own ideas, it will be difficult to reach a consensus today. I propose we table this matter for now."
"Table it until when? Are you suggesting you’ll go back, reconsider the matter, and change your mind?"
"That’s not what I mean," Li Wuyang said.
"Since it’s so difficult to reach a consensus, I think we need someone to break the deadlock. There’s something I’m sure you’re aware of: an investment firm called Disregard Risk Investment Company has acquired a 10% stake in Desheng Properties. I think we should invite them to the next meeting. Perhaps then we can reach a productive outcome and stop wasting our time here."
’That’s what I was thinking, too.’ There was truly no point in remaining deadlocked.
The focus of their work would now have to revolve around this Disregard Risk Investment Company.
"President Qin."
Qin Zhengqing’s secretary quietly approached his side.
"The front desk just called. The general manager of Disregard Risk Investment Company is here."
