Chapter 235 - 166: Lin Jiang! Makes His Entrance
"Not everyone possesses such a powerful integration capability."
"It’s truly impressive. I was also quite surprised when I first heard the news," Qin Zhengqing said.
"That would make things much easier," Qin Yangyang said.
"If we can win that company over and sign a strategic partnership agreement, our two companies will be tied together. We’ll hold 46% of the shares, so the controlling interest will still be in our hands."
"Dad, we need to get started on these talks right away. There can be absolutely no slip-ups," Qin Youyou said.
"It would also save my sister from having that Li Wuyang pester her every day. He’s always strutting around, acting all high and mighty. The sight of him is just irritating."
Qin Zhengqing looked over at Qin Yangyang. "Has he been looking for you again?"
"He keeps calling me, but I’ve just been ignoring him," Qin Yangyang said calmly.
"He’s the general manager of Xiangrong now. I’m sure he’s just trying to use this to threaten you into dating him, and then take over our family’s business on the side," Qin Youyou said.
"That bastard. He never learned how to do proper business, just a whole lot of dirty tricks."
"What kind of language is that?" Qin Zhengqing reprimanded.
"You keep calling people bastards and scumbags. Who have you been learning that from? Have you been making friends with the wrong crowd again?"
"No, no, I was just angry," Qin Youyou said with an apologetic smile.
Qin Yangyang glanced at Qin Youyou.
’She hasn’t learned a single one of Lin Jiang’s virtues, but she’s certainly picked up his knack for cussing.’
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—
The knocking sound interrupted the father and daughters’ conversation.
Qin Zhengqing’s secretary was standing at the door.
"President Qin, some of the company’s shareholders have arrived."
"Understood."
Qin Zhengqing got up, straightened his suit, and walked out of the office. The Qin Sisters followed behind him.
It was late June, and as per company tradition, it was time to hold the quarterly meeting to review the second quarter and establish the guidelines for the third.
"Uncle Qin, Yangyang, Youyou..."
Just as they reached the entrance to the conference room, they saw Li Wuyang hurrying over to greet the three of them.
"Wuyang, you’re here," Qin Zhengqing replied with a smile.
"My dad had something to attend to today, so he couldn’t come. I’ll be attending the meeting in his place."
"Alright, let’s go."
The group went into the conference room, which was already full of people.
Seeing Qin Zhengqing and the two others enter, the company shareholders and representatives all stood up and offered polite greetings.
Once Qin Zhengqing was seated, his secretary distributed the relevant documents and financial statements, and the meeting officially began.
As per the agenda, Qin Zhengqing briefly explained the company’s situation, and the remaining representatives also shared some of their own thoughts.
These were all just perfunctory proceedings. Once they were concluded, the meeting got down to business.
"Everyone has seen the financial reports for this quarter. I believe the company is on the edge of a precipice. With the development of the digital age, user demands are quietly undergoing a transformation. Our familiar business models and ways of thinking can no longer keep up with the currents of the time. My idea is to slow the pace of our expansion and further enhance our product’s service and quality. This is the problem we must urgently address..."
Qin Zhengqing’s speech lasted for about two to three minutes, the result of his careful deliberation.
When he finished, the conference room was silent for a moment.
"President Qin, I have a different opinion."
The speaker was a young man named Zhou Jin, who was sitting across from Li Wuyang.
He was the son of Zhou Qunsheng, the chairman of Xi Yuan Technology Co., Ltd., as well as the company’s general manager. Today, he was attending as a representative of the board of directors.
"Alright, go ahead."
"With the national economy in decline and the housing market sluggish, we’ve shifted from a growth market to a stock market. In this situation, I feel we should continue to expand our property management area. Let’s secure our foundational market share first, and then tackle the problems of service and quality. Otherwise, our space for survival will be further compressed, and by then, we’ll have lost the initiative."
"I agree with President Zhou’s idea," Li Wuyang said. "In a stock market, acquiring more users means more opportunities. We should resolve this issue first, and then we can talk about other things."
"If we can’t even hold on to our foundational market share, there’s no point in even talking about quality and service."
The conference room was silent. The other shareholder representatives did not voice an opinion on the matter.
Their status was different from that of Li Wuyang and Zhou Jin, so they were reluctant to immediately choose a side.
"I have considered the problems you’ve mentioned, but the company’s capital chain is not robust. Without adequate investment, expanding so recklessly could easily lead to a break in our funding chain, which would be a fatal blow to the company."
Qin Zhengqing said, "What we should be doing now is stabilizing our foundational market share and developing steadily within the stock market."
"The slump in the housing market has pushed the property management industry into a red ocean market. If we expand recklessly, it’s tantamount to dancing on the edge of a cliff. I’m sure everyone understands the danger involved," Qin Yangyang said.
"The state has already implemented policies to ensure the completion of housing projects. All over the country, land is still being sold to drive GDP through the housing market, which is also being stimulated by various other means. This so-called stock market phase is only temporary. I believe we will be greeted by a blue ocean in the not-so-distant future," Li Wuyang said.
"I agree with President Li’s point of view," Zhou Jin said.
The meeting continued, with both sides voicing their opinions, but because shareholding represents voting power, Qin Zhengqing was imperceptibly at a disadvantage.
After a back-and-forth that lasted a full half hour, nobody was willing to concede, and everyone stuck to their own opinions. No conclusion was reached.
However, because Qin Zhengqing’s shareholding exceeded 34%, he possessed veto power, even if he didn’t have the advantage in voting rights.
